The beast Nephrim shoots doesn't have a chance to react before it is killed. The other beast, on the other hand, charges st the girl. When she swings her halberd at its head it moves to the side just enough that it burrows into its shoulder instead. It's still a grievous injury, but it gives the beast a chance to lash out with its claws.

"Ah, disruption field. I'll need to know the model, or if it's custom made, get a closer look at the emitter and the power system It may be low on power, there may be some sort of problem with whatever creates the 'sheath' of...well, whatever it uses...around the head," Phil holds his hands out to receive the handle, apparently not worried about the weight himself.

They've earned whatever rest they can get, stopping a digger squad is no laughing matter.

Once the stasis field has the walkers stilled, the rest of the aliens move on after their commander, not wanting to inflict any more human casualties. The one following the commander was the one I referred to as being shot at, and said situation continues. No more heavy weapons are used, but some small fusion guns are used to try and sear the joints together.

City Gate

The ones firing over the shield wall will fire one more salvo, then direct their attention to the empty spot in the infantry funnel that was meant specifically so that anyone getting past the two diagonal walls would be an easy target. The funnel moves forward a few tentative steps, then sinks the bottom parts of their shields into the ground for stability, then raise them, then step forward a bit, then sink them in again.

Nephrim just manages to dodge, although there's how ever many claws the beast has ripped through her denim dress; they also leak blood the colour of tarnished silver. If the halberd is stuck, Nephrim dives that way to jerk it free and maybe cause more damage. If it is not stuck, Nephrim places one end of the pole against her foot and presses a button causing it to double in length, possibly impaling the monstrous monster she is fighting on the end of the spear point that makes it a halberd rather than another form of polearm.

The final option occurs. Nephrim manages to impale the beast before it can recover. The way into the tower lies open. She best hurry before anyone spots her.

It would, but it would also help make it more mobile while allowing for a larger size. I think I'll go with the metal skeleton, though. Oversized golems are bulky anyway.

"Yeah, I guess it would totally reduce the weight for the same general size of golem otherwise," Crissy agrees. "How tough are they supposed to be, anyway?"

Nephrim darts into the tower, making sure the beasts are really dead before leaving and making sure that Fear didn't fall out at any point. She shrinks her halberd back into an axe and dashes up the stairs as fast as she can. She doesn't need to sleep, so theoretically she can't feel tired. In practice, however, her legs ache after a while and she has to catch her breath. Whether this occurs before or after reaching the rifle I have no idea; Nephrim swaps muscles every so often so the legs don't hurt as much, though that tends to cause the rest of the body to hurt slightly.

It's likely Nephrim will be quite tired before she reaches the rifle, but she won't be interrupted in her ascent. Once she does reach the top, she will find the rifle propped against the wall by a shattered window.

Nephrim will first size up the window to see if she could get out through it if necessary, even if she has to shrink slightly to do it. When that is done, she will take the rifle and lie it on the windowsill, trying to find the man on the stage in order to shoot him in the head with the gun; Nephrim's better with a pistol, surprisingly, but she's still quite a good shot.

The window is quite large. She might have to smash some more glass, but she could get through it.

Taking the gun mutes the sounds of fighting echoing up from the city. It's as if all the combatants stopped to wait for Nephrim to take her shot.

A ways in the distance a man paces back and forth across a stage. He gestures wildly as he speaks to the crowd of the dead before him.

Very tough... by the standards of my homeworld. Here, I suppose they're be hardy but not overly so. The main advantage of a clay golem is that it's very easy to repair.

The Tunnel Rats leave, taking their dead as best as they can, and head back to the HQ to await redeployment when necessary.

Yellow-Golems

(Sorry, thought I had put in this part...)

The walkers let the small ones go, judging their threat level to be minor compared to the rest. Instead, they go around to the larger ones, making sure to shoot each one again, and if possible, tear apart the bodies.

Too many things here can get back up.

Does the stasis field affect the pilot as well?

Viper Leader however, isn't in his walker, and is on foot. He stops when gunfire starts behind him, and ducks into a different hallway, kneeling down, shotgun raised as he draws a flashbang from his pouch.

Main Gate

The volley fire above the walls is blocked by the shield once more. The ones climbing on the wall, will find no resistance at the top, only charred remains and twisted hunks of metal.

The Funnel will be met with several dozen thumps as smoke grenades are launched into their midst and the surrounding area, even through the gate. The canisters begin spewing thick multicolored smoke. Greens, Reds, Blues, and Blacks, obscuring all sight except within a few feet.

The last of the larger golems are shattered, though their driver birds manage to fly away before they are crushed, there's not point in the intelligent canaries returning.

The small ones disappear in the rooftops.

It should. Unless there's some sort of stasis shield.

"You're fellows are safely contained and you are surrounded, please, cease fighting and allow for continuation of our mission. A diplomatic drone will arrive once this area of the city is declared safe."

The armored aliens atop the gate will look around, pushing the metal aside with their weapons if they can, and look for any possible threat.

The armored alien infantry is thankful for their gas masks and switches over to thermal vision. Oh, wait, the leftover heat from the fusion blast is obscuring the thermals, too...Ultraviolet? Not enough detail...High frequency wave radiation emitter/receivers are relied upon for sight here. The radiation is only dangerous if one is exposed to a large amount of it over a long period of time, but it cuts through most materials, allowing some vision through thin walls.
The emitters send out their first signal, working like advanced echolocation, and before the systems have even calibrated themselves to allow the aliens to see, they start firing randomly, one tossing a grenade of its own-a razor frag. Imagine a frag grenade with razor wire shrapnel.

Harnel goes about putting the tools Iggy had bought earlier on a convenient table, making sure not to damage any by dropping them. Once he's finished, they'll be lined up all nice and pretty waiting for Iggy and Harnel to get them.

Then he goes over to the scrap pile and starts looking for a welder, working off the image of Iggy's much smaller one

He might find a few things that looks like they might once have been welders, but it looks like this pile is scrap for a reason.

He might have more luck with the small building that's juuuust visible past a pile of cars.

As for Iggy, he's hauling pieces of metal out with wild abandon. It looks like he's having more luck, although that's probably because he wants "titanium" and not a specialised piece of equipment.

Iggy, upon seeing Rho and Phil come near, scampers over on all fours towards them, and looks up at Rho. Iggy's about a foot tall, and is a darkish grey colour all over, with dextrous feet. He'll try and climb up Rho, with no thought as to ownership of the robot, or indeed of anything being wrong with the action.

The remaining Walkers begin to make their way to where Viper Squad was. How long will the stasis last?

Viper Leader thinks over the last few minutes. They had refused to stand down and back away when warned. Not only that, but they had enough firepower to destroy an entire apartment block.

He decides on his course of action. "Nuts!" He shouts before throwing the flashbang.

Gate

The Gate's hinges are fused, but when enough force is applied, they slowly slide open. Also, given that there was just an Anti-Matter explosion, there's going to be too much radiation to see. Even if it's just from the glassed walls. The explosion affected too much, and many materials are still breaking down on an atomic level.

It's basically like seeing into a white-out.

The ones on the top of the wall will see nothing dangerous under the wreckage.

The smoke/radiation is too thick to see through to tell if the fire and grenade has any affect, but they're met with another volley of grenades, powerful frag ones this time, and twin blasts from a pair of multi-meltas.

Yellow Zone

The stasis mines only last about two minutes each, but there are several more still in the building that the slightest disturbance of rubble could set off.

((An apartment block? They've used up their rocket launcher (well, until they get time to reset the tubes, but they don't have that right now and don't plan on using the rockets again) All they did was blast a hole in a thin brick wall...))
"Please, we need to-KRUUUUH!" the flash blinds the commander and most of the other alien soldiers. They step back, blinking and clutching at their tempanic membranes. They had never encountered flashbags before, though they have an alien equivalent on hand. Their eyes won't take as long as human eyes to recover, but it still hurts like a bitch.

The two who aren't blinded step out from their cover and dash to help their comrades, if they see the human, they will run after him and try to catch him by the arm.

City Gate

There's a lot of thermal and mid-level EM radiation from an anti-matter explosion, but as for wave-form radiation, like the ones the aliens are using? Not much. I'll go with it, though.

The infantry switch over to infrared laser-scan (which sends out a craptonne of infrared beams that let the aliens know where everything is, but don't show many details. Still, better than thermal or ultraviolet at this point) right as the grenades bounce off or sail over the funnel's shields. Four aliens are severely injured and thrown forward by the grenades despite their armor, and noone moves to help them. The multimeltas manage to hit one of the damaged tanks and fuse the chassis to the sphere wheel and kill the driver. One of the remaining nine tanks fires its sustained electro-maser cannon down the opening in the funnel at a wide sweep, a little bit higher than your average human head, but if there's anyone particularly tall, or any tanks, they might find themselves screaming 'Not in the face!'

Harnel hands it over without worry. If Phil think he can take it, Harnel won't argue "That's the thing - I don't know how it works. It's a thing I got as a gift from a friend after they had raided a cult. This was in the cult's cache and I had lost my weapon, so she gave it to me."

The hammer is a Thunder hammer, which is a type of Power Weapon. It's the kind of weapon that, when active, can knock a tank onto it's side with a single hit in the hands of a space marine

"A cult, huh? Have you thought that maybe it doesn't work for anyone but a cult member, or that it's been tainted by some magic?
Phil peers at the power core and tries to see if there's anything wrong there.

"I considered that, but didn't have any way to test it." Harnel says, "This is the first opportunity I've had to see what's wrong."

The power core is indeed depleted. like with a battery, you can keep turning it on, but if it doesn't have the juice it needs it'll die in a matter of seconds

"Hmm...Rho, cables, please?" a pair of red and black striped cables snake out of one of Rho's shoulders and Phil plugs them into the power core to check the battery level, type, and whether or not it's rechargeable.

The hammer can be recharged easily enough, and it's built in such a way that it conserves power fairly well. it's just gone a crazily long time without a boost. For the most part, it just uses straight electricity

In that case, Phil has Rho fill it back up with excess power from Rho's generator and hands it back to Harnel.
"There you go, it just needed a recharge. I'd get it checked by a priest or a mage or something, though. Cultist weapons have turned paladins into the most horrible of monsters."

"Thanks," Harnel says, "I'll be sure to get this over to a temple to check it. I'll owe you a favor if you ever decide to call it in." He takes the hammer, swings it a few times, and activates the field. It glows brightly and strongly - the Half-dragon seems satisfied with it
