However, many times people will schedule one-offs just to be able to meetup with other Playgrounders that are semi-local. I'm not familiar with any that have happened in Texas, per se, but I know there are plenty of Texans here.

The Dutch Meet-up is regular. It follows a specific cycle of meet-ups being closer toghetter, then quite a bit of a time goes by and then it all starts over again.
We're just not as obvious about it.
