Well obviously watch Nightmare Before Christmas, is amazing. Then Pan's Labyrinth.

After that watch them in any order, possibly by using a die to determin which comes next.

Well, Troy is mentioned by name about a dozen times, and both Iliad and Cassandra are sung of in the song. The lyrics can be hard to make out sometimes, but Cassandra and at least one of the Troys are quite easy to hear.

Just do as I say, and stay in here (I'll stay in here)

Oh Frollo, you horrific man you.

Then it'll be Nightmare, El Fauno del Labyrintho, Princess and the Frog, Basil and Hot Fuzz.
Because I feel like topping off the marathon with hugely funny subversions of cop films and murder scenarios.
Oh! And I may throw in a re-watch of The Doctor's Wife before it comes off BBCiplayer.

Cassandra is the person who "Cassandra truth" is named after. It is a pretty iconic name, and in the legend, she is cursed by Apollo to predict the future but never to be believed. She foretold the fall of Troy, but obviously no one thought she was accurate in her prediction.

She was cursed because Apollo promised her divination if she slept with him, but then, after he had given her gift, she changed her mind and so he cursed her, being unable to remove the gift for some reason.

I've never really had that problem. But, then, most of the fanfic I've run into have been yaoi slashfics that had been sent to me in order to try to troll me or similarly abhorrent doggerel that wasn't interesting enough to read past the first two sentences.

I believe in it being a trollfic in order to preserve my humanist leanings and stave off misanthropy. It's wide open to interpretation though, which is why I put the "(?)" in there.

I'm going to avoid it for at least a little while, I tend to rage at idiotic writing, and I'm supposed to be getting calmer these days.

And most of the fanfic I've seen has been okay, just not interesting enough to waste my time on. Some stuff really impressed me though.

To be fair, it's not her fault that her series took off. She just knew how to market to teenage girls and middle aged women (it's pretty easy, actually. Have an empty, descriptionless, weak character as a woman so that any lonely girl/woman can pretend it's her, and then have a caricature of what those women think they want in a man as the male and you'll sell millions every time.)

I don't care for the series, but I also think it's a little silly how so many people apparently froth at the mouth over how much they hate it.
    End of line.

I am extremely opposed to burning a book because we dislike it, the least reason being that you have to but the books first, which gives the writer money.

The Pacific Northwest having beautiful beaches? This does not compute. The only stretch of their coastline I've seen that was beautiful could not be defined as a beach due to the massive chunks of rock forged in the fires of the belly of the earth that were strewn about after being forcibly disgorged when the earth was yet young or made up the entirety of the land abutting the water.

Clambering over the rocks and avoiding the massive amount of mussels had its charm, yes, and the seaspray was pretty awe inspiring at times, but not really what would be classically classed as beautiful either, though I certainly found it to be so. Most of the beaches seemed depressed by the weather and unable to muster up any kind of quality sand whatsoever.

I mostly just froth at the mouth over how much I hate vapid women who insist they have a right to my time when they do not and rail about how I'm not like a fictional account of some idealized abusive man when I have no interest in them and I just want to purchase my lunch and eat in peace.

Also, why should we be fair? Life and people are not.

I froth at the mouth at the books because of how poorly written they are. She has trouble keeping her canon strait, she's geniually bad at writing romance, and she takes an established mythological creature to a new place that unfortuantly does not work as well as it could of.

And that's not to say I don't have GOOD things I can say about it. As much as I hate it, the whole "Spirit Wolf" thing is kinda cool. They aren't werewolves, they are apparently native american wolf spirits. Or something like that. I also think she'd be a great Gore writer. You don't get better then spines crushing to dust and fountains of blood. Just..not in a birth scene, please.

The Pacific Northwest having beautiful beaches? This does not compute. The only stretch of their coastline I've seen that was beautiful could not be defined as a beach due to the massive chunks of rock forged in the fires of the belly of the earth that were strewn about or made up the entirety of the land abutting the water.

Those rocks create the most beautiful tidepools filled with slimy and many armed things, all if which are brightly colored. The rocks are so craggy no one goes climbing all over them (because it really hurts the hands to try), so they retain a beautiful majesty while standing out against the landscape. On windy days there is always the crashing of the surf, and at sunset the sky is blood red with deep shadows cast by the rocks across the sand. The sand itself is either a muddyish flat that goes out as far as you can see at low tide, lightly covered by a centimeter of water that smooths out ugly holes dug by children, or a beach of rounded rocks that crunch as you walk on them.
