"Gordon... now see, that name don't ring a bell. Check up how?" Jack says, looking at the kid.

Speaking of Valiara, Quinn happens to be stalking torwards her at the moment, her face an expressionless mask.

To be fair, I don't believe that Blaine knows exactly what is going on either.

Ooohhhh boy! The look that has spread across that goblin woman's face is priceless.

Maybe Blaine would decide not to harass the woman if she didn't react to the stimuli he is providing?

Probably not. He was instructed on how to handle the opposite gender in situations where one has been captured.

Cloud their minds with anger. Wait for them to slip up.

As such, Blaine resolves to continue the harassment of the goblin woman with as much wit as he can muster!

"I probably don't find this situation as amusing as you do. You want me to 'stay where I am,' after all. Where I am is lying on my back on a bed of some sort with restraints holding me against it."

Zero's response puzzles Valaira. Even if one were designed, they had a "family" that consisted of their creator and their comrades.

"How were you created if you didn't have a mother or creator?"

(I think we should wait for BR to undeadtime before continuing interaction between Zero and Valaira.)

They somehow manufactured me. I don't know how they did it.

Zero watches Quinn walk towards Valaria.

On the outskirts of the camp Evan followed Din here and is now heading into the site.

Valaira surprisingly doesn't notice the advancing Quinn. She is just dreamily watching the clouds drift through the heavens and enjoying her conversation with Zero.

"I guess you could say that I am the same way. I wasn't actually born either."

Valaira timidly confesses.

If not for Blaine's testimony, there would be no indication of Valaira's malicious nature.

I imagine that if it ever comes out that she really is evil Zero would probably sigh and think it was his own bad luck.

What do you mean?

Zero asks as he continues to watch Quinn.

Quinn stalks over to stand near the twosome, and looks them over for a moment.
Is that a hint of sadness in her expression?
"Valaira. I would desire a word with you."

Valaira opens her mouth to respond to Zero's inquiry when Quinn makes her request.

Valaira does analyze Quinn enough to realize that Quinn appears to be sad.

"Is something amiss, Quinn?"

Valaira compassionately probes.

Mercilessly slaying her at this point would be analogous to deliberately stepping on a newborn puppy's neck.

"But I'm not entirely me. No illness would make me want to eat you."

Olivia bets that Dr. Burnett would taste good too. All that positive outlook and optimism... Mmm, tasty.

"Actually, that's not true." Dr Burnett starts pulling out textbooks and showing Olivia pictures of patients with weird diseases that make them want to eat weird things.

Pica. Tricophagia. Auto-cannibalism. And she probably has a bunch more that her player can't think of.

"I have heard some...disturbing things. I would like to know if they are true," Quinn says simply to Valaira, a small frown on her otherwise neutral face. "Particulary that you are evil. Is this true?"

She's straight to the point, at least...

Generally, if this question were posed to a normal person who was evil, said person would protest that he or she were, without a doubt, not evil.

Valaira is not such a being.

Thus Valaira, with her eyes cast downward and voice full of remorse, whispers,

"I...I don't know anymore."

If she were as corrupt as Blaine claims why would she have spared him and taken him to GLoG in the first place?

Why wouldn't she simply break the link between herself and Blaine and then murder him?

Zero will stay quiet but remains ready to move. If there is a fight, he wants to be able to stop it immediately.

And this is why Quinn, even in her state, asked...
She knows better than to take one person's opinion as fact.
(Which isn't, of course, to say that sometimes she doesn't. <_<)

Quinn watches Valaria for a long moment, then nods, once, sharply, and goes to sit down next to the woman on the other side of her from Zero.

"It was told to me by Sir Blaine - " a hint of humour? " - that you are evil incarnate, and that I was to kill him, in order to ensure your demise. And that half a billion soldiers had attempted to kill you before, and failed. I would like to hear your side of the story."

[Zefir]

"Huh. Never heard of him." Reinholdt shrugs. Usually he's better informed. Oh well.

"And yeah. Kirk admitted to being AMEN buddies with Magtok. And when I had trouble with Magtok, he said he'd check it out. He came back claiming there was no issue whatsoever and didn't even bother looking past the deceit he knows Magtok for. It didn't take long to realize he was actually working for Magtok as an inside man in GLoG. Probably because of that time I caught Magtok in the act of shooting Quinn and Ermine." Reinholdt scowls.

"I don't even know what I am anymore, much less what I feel about the actions I have taken in my past."

"You know how when we die, we are supposed to become a part of something greater?"

"I was that greater something. I was the one hope that comforted dying beings everywhere. I pitied them. If they were going to die, why should they have lived in the first place?"

"Blaine was employed by the AEF, a radical military group which sought human supremacy. They conducted genocide campaigns against various species using patriotic men who were duped by their government, told day after day that the aliens 'wanted only the destruction of humanity at large.'"

"I couldn't let them kill everything different from themselves! They couldn't be reasoned with!"

"I didn't want to cause more death, I wanted to stop it!"

Valaira is overwhelmed and sobbing once again. She is emotionally broken in every sense of the phrase.

It seems like Blaine is the real villain here, even if he doesn't recognize that fact.

Quinn listens dispassionatly to Valaria's story. Part of it matches, but the rest...

Well.

As the woman starts sobbing, though, something changes in Quinn's face. And she leans over to try and embrace Valaria, offering her a shoulder to cry on.

(And I need to sleep, alas. G'nite.)

Kirk frowns even more at Din and walks closer to her to get a look at the note. "What is that all about?" He's not liking this whole business. It's making him edgy.

A young woman arrives at the front door, looking exhausted and struggling to carry a very charred looking man.
"Hello? I need some help here?"

Charred man makes no resistance to whatever anyone tries!

"Wouldn't be bad after all. It's better than nothing and if we do it right they imagine their old live hunts them. Well it sounds evil but sometimes its nessassary."

He seems to be not good with the idea but still thinks it's the right way .

The cat shakes his head. "I don't want to go that far. I think I'll just stay out of sight when I can."
