We have semi-old grizzled veteran as the Captain, so go for it. For bonus points, this pony might be one of the only members of the guard to remember what Captain was like as a raw recruit 30+ years ago.

Name: Harten [ "That's DRILL SERGEANT Harten to you, ya whipper snapper!" ]

Title: Drill Sergeant [Was once a Captain himself, but gave up the title when he got too old.]

Race: Earth Pony

Appearance: Both his mane and his body are grayed with age, the only remnant of his original coat being the dark blue 'frills' around his hooves.

Age: In human years, he would be in his late 60's.

Skills: Knows and practices nearly every form of battlefield combat, ranging from hoof to hoof, swordplay, and archery. Though his skills are 'rusty' since his body doesn't respond as quickly as it used to, his timing and strategic methods are still hard to beat.

Biography: Once part of a crack team of a first wave assault unit, he retired to Bridle Shores in the hopes of peace and quiet. Since that never happened, he found solace in being able to teach other ponies the ways of the battlefield. Not much more is known about just who Harten is, but there has been speculation that there is more than meets the eye with this pony.

Personality: Cranky to a fault, Harten does really care for the guardsponies in Bridle Shores, but feels they lack the conviction to be real warriors, and so, pushes them to train more than they usually do. Having trained even the current Captain of the Guard....Captain.

Relationships: Captain, possibly Roy and Eric.

Cutie Mark: Dagger over a Cloak, with a Sword and Shield 'embossed' on the cloak. This is what has led many to speculate as to what he really did in the army.

With Zach using his 'Retcon Pen' to put himself back in his cell, yes it is. Better news for Scarlet joining is that with Roy down, they need a fourth member fast, and Eric is essentially in charge of the operation. He would have no problem with pulling a militia member for the mission. He'll probably get chewed out for doing so, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Feel free to have her overhear Eric mentioning all this to Tyrol and offer her services.

The Fetlock Nobility
Seperate from the normal factions that fire for either princess are the noble families that once made up and funded the bulk of Equestria's army. Made up of unicorm pryomancers, draconic fire ponies, and specially bred dragons; these high ranked officers were charged with defending the country from outside forces. A thousand years ago, the battle between the princesses split the group into two and sent half of them into "self-imposed exile".

Descendents of Flashfire: These are the ponies whose ancestors allied with Celestia and remained in Equestria. They are mostly unicorn nobles and hold great control over the Equestrian army. Slightly in favor of Celestia, they are more concerned with maintaining the quiet status quo.
Followers of Wildfire: The children of the forces who left Equestria upon Luna's defeat. Luna has recently convinced them to return for their financial backing. Their military force are almost as large but are generally less worried about the status of the nation. Dragon-like fire ponies make up most of their forces.

Hey mindfreak, the Plummet Shock is called such because on impact, is causes a sonic shockwave from the combined force of his motion the the sudden air compression of him being on the verge of a sonic boom when he hits.

So that captain wouldn't have gone splat. He would have imploded from the pressure in front of Simmer. The reason Roy didn't go implosive is because his sword took the brunt of the pressure wave and slowed Simmer down enough to counter the shock.




At least, that's how I see it.

But if you really want it that gory, so be it.

Lone Star is starting to slow down, though it's fairly clear he's nowhere near the crash yet, as he's still acting like a drunken moron, shouting something at the patrons.

"-And then sun tzu used his fighting money to buy two of every animal, and he put them on a boat, and beat the ever-lovin' crap out of 'em! And that's why, whenever a bunch of animals are in one place it's called A ZOOOO!!!"

Suddenly he sprung to attention for no apparent reason.

"SPACE MARENES! TODAY, THE ENEMY IS AT OUR DOOR!! IF WE DIE TODAY, WE DIE IN GLORY BUT WE SHALL NOT DIE, NO! IT IS THE ENEMY WHO WILL TASTE DEFEAT TODAY, AS WE HAVE PREPARED OUR PERIMETER FOR MULTIPLE SIMULTANEOUS DEEP STRIKES FROM SPAAAAAACE!! THE CODEX NAMES OUR MANEUVER 'STEEL RAIN'!!!! SPACE MARENES, PREPARE FOR GLORY!!! FOR DA GOD-EMPRESS OF PONIIIIIIES!!"

Then he crashed to the floor.

"...unless it's a faaaarm..." He moaned before finally going out cold.
