Re: ItP Chapter II- Battle for Haruki-Kun
Good game even though I barely played it, so I will fill the rest of this post with roles stuff most people won't read.
First of all, except with roles that actively impede allied powers or enhance enemy powers while they live, all powerroles are useful. The smallest possible power would be Ramsus's power of "You are not a villager". The ability of the person with this role is to claim it. By doing so, they can prevent mislynches by town and distract the wolves from trying to kill more powerful roles. Any "useless" town info roles may simply ignore their scans if they wish. As it is, seers should wait until they have scried enough people as wolves that they consider 62.5% (chance that someone scried as wolf is a wolf) of that number of wolves to be of more value than their life, and then claim to the scried that are 87.5% likely to be villagers. However, it is true that the seers as they are are rather weak, and do not balance Real Life. I do have a couple ideas that could empower them:
1. You could make a third role whose power is to know which seer scried truly. This could lead to many interesting problems of when to claim, and importance in which seer to claim to be.
2. You could give seers the option to, instead of scrying, help the other seer with their scry, guaranteeing its success. If both seers did this, the scry would be wasted however. For this to not break you'd either need to have the seers receive the same role PM or to make a wolf role where if they correctly state that one seer is helping another and which seer is the helper, then the help is ineffective, but to prevent them from doing this every night you'd want either for their power to not work the next time it would every time they guess incorrectly or to give them other powers and only let them do one thing (Perhaps give the Devil the ability to do this instead of scry?)
.
That's what I can think of

Re: ItP Chapter II- Battle for Haruki-Kun
A few notes from the game
1) Just read the QT. Thanks for saying such nice things about me. I really appreciate it.
2) I've been the Sniper many times and usually its a tough role because I'll often use my power and kill innocents and I'll get 4 people saying in thread "Sniper, stop killing people at random!" or "Sniper, you're only making it easier for the {wolves}" So imagine my glee when I head-shotted the villainous Devil in the face! Surely, the thread will sing the praises of their unknown hero and...and...and.... no one said anything No "Good job, Sniper" not even after I passed away. I thought now surely, I'll get a "Good job, Atreyu. Thanks for taking out that devil. We'll get the rest." *SOBS*
3) Wow, this was a great game of wills. I haven't been this intrigued in what would happen after I died in at least a year. Awesome job from all the players. *claps*
4) Lex-Kat and Co makes awesome narrations!inner circle Legionary of Resiliance

Re: ItP Chapter II- Battle for Haruki-Kun
Well, I can say brilliant sniping. For the sniper to hit the devil that quickly was brilliant, and I was honestly surprised by the fact that the wolves didn't lose a single other role.
You were the best Team Good Role, or the most effective one anyways."Trust bladescape, Shadow of Doubt,"

Re: ItP Chapter II- Battle for Haruki-Kun
Being scried was the only situation I could think of in which they would be useful; the point is, they can't claim they scry as anything special, so it comes down to luck instead of any tactics on their part.
Plus it's only more useful if the wolves can scry as villagers sometimes; otherwise it's a villager by another name.Last edited by Internet Flea; 2011-07-18 at 11:15 PM.

Re: ItP Chapter II- Battle for Haruki-Kun
Game over. As promised - winners get to be role in the new game (With survivors who were active the most filling in the blanks.)
ITP Chapter III - Battle for Rakkoon
Roles:
SpoilerPlayground (Heroes)
SpoilerThe Fiery Tower (Baner)- He successfully completed his mission in chapter 2 of our stories, but his time in RL has driven him nuts not being with the playground. So he's back, and this time doing what he can to keep people here and safe.
Lemonus/Rogue Nine (Seer/Fool)- Which one is the seer and which one is the fool, no one really knows. We do know that both were the parents in chapter two, so they think they know it all. Like most parents who argue though - if one is right the other is wrong. Each night the send in a scry to see if the person logged in is a playgrounder or a real life monster in disguise. (The role of who is the Fool, and who is the Seer is randomly changed throughout the game.)
Rakkoon (Angel)- Rakkoon saw the evils of the Real Life in chapter two. He knows best on what tricks the narrator's can pull, so he has it's best to avoid them. This loveable critter of the forest kung-fu has the ability to make narrators laugh, thereby avoiding the extra points, so if he's pointed at by the narrator/anti-narrator, no worries. Those points just count as 1.
The Fiery Tower (Shield)- The Doctor in chapter 2, this tower knows how to defend against the attacks of Real Life. What better way to help keep Rakkoon alive from an attack other then placing him up high where Real Life can't touch him. Though because the tower is on fire, the protection will only be once. (Takes the kill from the first time Haruki-Kun is attacked by the wolves).
Reinholdt (Killer)- Sniper. Nuff Said. At night can send in the name of a player to be removed. 3 day cooldown.
Bladescape (Narrator)- You think we'd let a game become active without putting the narrator name directly into it? That would be serious, and we need to be SILLY. Bladescape's point counts as 3 (except on Rakkoon). Power starts game as off. Can send in PM to turn the power on. Once power is active, it remain's active until game over.
Playgrounder (Villager)- The playgrounders love their woodland friends and will do everything to eliminate the Real Life's call. Each day they can point to lynch someone they believe to be a Real Life Monster.
Real Life Monsters (Villains)
SpoilerThe Taxidermist (Alpha Cloaked Wolf)- This old man has been working on capturing critters for years by continuously setting traps and snares. One creature has always eluded him - the Kung Fu Rakkoon. But now he knows where Rakkoon is hiding, and has come to try and collect his white whale and perhaps a few other trophies along the way. Scries as Playgrounder - Picks wolves.
The Zoo-keepers (Wolves)- Animals belong in a zoo, at least that's what the zoo-keepers think. Will they be able to handle the wilderness known as the playground? Only they know how to contain the wild.
The Tracker (Devil)- When one is hunting for Rakkoons, they need a good person to guide the way. The Tracker can find anything, land, sea, air and now - electronically.
The Parents (Beasts)- The fierce two-some can drag any playgrounder away from the computer when they go. With their catch phrase "Go spend some time outside!" as their trademark, sending them away for their search will result in losing another as well.
The Hacker (Disguiser)- The hacker can log into the boards as anyone else. He's so good, he can in fact make anyone look like someone else when logged in. Each night he can send in the name of a player and make them look like anyone he wants when they are scried.
Lex-Kat(Anti-Narrator)- Well, if team good gets one, then why shouldn't team evil? That would be silly, and we need to be SERIOUS. Lex-Kat's point counts as 3 (except on Rakkoon). Power starts game as off. Can send in PM to turn the power on. Once power is active, it remain's active until game over..
The Doctor (Voider)- The cause of illness is enough to take anyone away from the boards for a time, but the doctor can pretty much tell you to stop staring at the screen waiting for your updates because it's bad for your health. Each night, he can send in the name of a player whose power he want's to de-activate for the night.
The Sneaks (Neutral)
SpoilerLady Tialait (Seer/Defender)- Everything learned has a price. And almost no one knows that more then Lady Tialait, except maybe Rules Lawyer #1. Each night Lady Tialait can send in a name to learn the role of that player. Though the scries are 100% accurate, the goals are not. (And yes, they will be different then Goals in chaptor 2)
Rules Lawyer #1 (Seer/Defender)- Everything learned has a price. And almost no one knows that more then Rules Lawyer #1, except maybe Lady Tialait. Each night Rules Lawyer #1 can send in a name to learn the role of that player. Though his scries are 100% accurate, his goals are not. (And yes, they will be different then Goals in chaptor 2)
Szilard (Careless Baner)- Enough Hiding - it's now time to get a name made for himself. Thanks to his disguise in chapter two, Szliard wants to make more of a name. So why not become a martyr who only helps others?
Still thinking on the seer/fool rules. Will likely make a change, though haven't figure it out yet.
See note on narrator rule change.

I agree with Lady T being a nuetral baner. Also yeah, weren't we going to change the town seer/fool pair to be less useless?

Re: ItP Chapter II- Battle for Haruki-Kun
Oh, OK... that's a bit better. Sorry about that, major spot check fail. <.<
Might I add something I came up with last night? I think 7 wolves, all power roles, is a bit too much for a ~30 person game. I had 7 power role wolves in Alchemists 1, 45 person game, and it still broke... <.<
Just an extra two cents.
EDIT: Nothing to take too seriously, I'm rambling.Last edited by Haruki-kun; 2011-07-27 at 06:45 PM.
