There are three of the grinning man-creatures left. Godot has dominated one, and grappled a second, and Xiulcoatl is trying to subdue a third.

I think I had Androse hit the right word: she's too much the stereotype of the princess in distress.

She's too much like Princess Peach.

Hm.. Maybe my recent Mariocart Double Dash marathon is effecting my writing? She looks innocent enough, but her racetrack (Peach Beach) is the only one featuring free range monsters (giant ducks) that actively hunt down the racers.

Ifni, I'd take offense at that if it hadn't made me laugh so hard.

Everything that gets said is filtered through our expectations. As soon as there was the glimmer of fakery, everything seems fake. It's why illusions from a DM can be so devastating (and can also slow down a game interminably) - you start to doubt and double-check everything. In this case, trying to trip Lycanthia up by following her story back to her father, instead of forward towards the alleged mirror thieves. If there is a father, and if their story passes the sniff test, there's still lots of time (today or tomorrow) to follow up with Mister Cyric.

Just to note, I'm waiting to see if casting that Detect Thoughts was a bad idea or not My rolls are in the previous post. I was asked to roll a save, so figured I probably should not post until that gets resolved.

For simplicity, I'll just take 10 on all Knowledge checks to recognize names/places in the woman's story: that gets me to 45 on Planes, Religion or Arcana and 28 on everything else.

From the story fragments earlier, we should all have a decent idea who Cyric is, at least

Togo, ty for the IC update. Do I get anything detecting thoughts on the madmen?

I'll try to post IC later today.

EDIT: Also, Umbriel is trying to think of monsters she's read about with disguise/polymorph powers, that also exude some kind of special scent and have compulsion abilities. (Of course, if she's a foul-mouthed sorceress with a vial of magic perfume, this is not going to yield anything useful ) Take-10 Knowledge check 45 for Planes/Religion/Arcana, 28 for anything else.

Huge numbers of creatures have polymorph and compulsion powers, including sirens, harpies, several abberations and plants, and almost every female-looking fey or evil outsider you've ever heard of. Scent narrows it down a bit, but nothing really springs to mind. Although, it does remind you of a story you heard about earlier in the adventure...

As for the 'madmen', three are unconscious, so the only you have to examine has been dominated by Godot. His mind is presently a fairly confused place, roughly on the intellectual level of a really well-trained dog. He's disappointed that the killing has stopped, really really wants to plunge his blades into the helpless unconscious madman near him, and is idly revisiting an old problem of how many swords you can stick into someone simultanesouly before their body simply falls apart under the strain, and wondering whether a gnome, being smaller but tougher, would allow for more or less. There are also a few images of Godot as a bloodstained pinata but he hasn't really had a good look at her yet.

I looked through the story fragments and don't see anything about scent, except possibly Cyric trying to trap Ahsile with a cursed flower - since Umbriel's memory is better than mine, could you point me to the mention? Or if you just mean the "beautiful lady with her ogre-like bodyguards", then no worries.

You get nothing on Akania as a place. You remember a very obscure reference to Akania as a minor agricultural deity, covering subsistance farming, finding fertile places in the sand, and protection from vermin. Her sacred animal was the ferret, probably because there weren't any cats in that area of the world. The nomads who worshipped her died out well over a thousand years ago though, and you're pretty sure there's no reference to her since.

As for the other matter, no worries then.:-)
