Re: The World in Revolt IC
"Well," Viola says, dancing back a few paces and brushing off her clothes, "that is certainly one way to go about that. In the future, might I suggest subtlety? I find that my prey is generally easier to slay when it is unaware of my presence." she flashes a smile; she can't help but feel some affection for the brusque warrior.

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Lying among the shards of the shattered wooden door are remnants of the stone door that once sealed the entrance. It appears the dwarves that found the crypt had little success in unlocking it. The 15 foot entry opens into a larger room with high ceilings that fade into darkness. From the light entering the broken doorway, you can see some markings on the floor and a slight fissure in the middle of the room, but the far side and the edges of the room are dark.

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Viola flashes a smile at Wolfen, accepting his decision. She enters the dark tomb and folds up her parasol, placing it in the pack on her back. The darkness feels good against her skin, and she takes a moment to enjoy the feeling before motioning her companions and stalking ahead.

Viola
SpoilerAs your eyes adjust from the light of the entryway, the chamber becomes visible in tones of violets and blues. The comforting view of the world is interrupted as you notice two huddled figures against the side walls doing a poor job of hiding in the darkness. They look to be wild humanoids with a look of death to them.No longer active in forums.

Re: The World in Revolt IC
At the sight of two humanoids, Viola motions for quiet to her companions behind her. She then approaches them, trying to get a better look.
If they seem to be dead, she will search then for valuables.
If they seem alive, she will get closer and whisper, "I am Viola Darkbough. We're explorers -- are you part of the Dwarven expedition?"
If they seem to be undead, she will ready herself to ambush them in a surprise round, when her companions blunder into the area and the two groups notice one another.
SpoilerI can't seem to edit the google doc from my phone :( I'm sorry. I will try to work out how to do it, but for now, I hope the description is enough

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Radiel nods at Wolfen, moving into position nearly silently. At the sight of Viola's signal he draws forth his rod, stance shifting from his usual neutral posture to a distinctly combative pose. His eyes begin to radiate a faint pearlescent hue as he stares at the scene, prepared to attack.
SpoilerRadiel readies an action to cast Rebuke Undead if he sees any hostile actions take place (he's unaware that Viola's a vampire). This could go badly.Last edited by Cheesy74; 2012-06-19 at 10:01 AM.

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Bugbear - FighterBugbear smiles and nods at Wolfen, following close behind Viola into the dark chamber. He gets more nervous as they lose the light further in, and when the young Drow puts a finger to her lips, seeming to indicate she has seen something his human eyes can't pick out, he steps beside Viola and gets his fists up and ready to protect her.
Spoiler(1d20+4)[8] Perception check to try and see what caught Viola's attention. Human, so normal vision.
If permitted, Bugbear readies a Grappling Strike against anything that seems to attack Viola and is within his reach (not including known allies).

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Spoiler(1d20+9)[20] lol, deva
Also I'm sorry for what's about to happen.
As the hellish creatures descend upon the party, Radiel's voice begins to echo throughout the chamber. Vigorous words of divine power resound from him as massive peals of thunder seem to strike with every syllable he intones. Arcs of searing light leap from his body as a massive pulse of glowing light bursts forth from him, engulfing the field nearby and sending the undead reeling.
SpoilerThis will hit Viola and attackers 1 and 2.
(1d20+10)[26] versus will [attacker 1]
(1d20+10)[26] versus will [attacker 2]
(1d20+10)[13] versus will [Viola]
If hit, Viola will be pushed to E6, attacker 2 to H6, and attacker 1 to A4.
Damage: (2d10+9)[20] radiant damage.
Any victims hit are dazed until their next turn.
Anyone who saves takes half damage.
Radiel's normally placid features are replaced by ones of fury as he completes his invocation. A silvery halo begins to waft out of his seething form.Last edited by Cheesy74; 2012-06-20 at 07:09 AM.

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Bugbear - FighterBugbear squints into the darkness, not seeing a thing, when suddenly the world erupts into chaos all around him. Assaulted first by the smell of decay, he catches movement out the corner of his eye when a foul undead creature stumbles from the shadows towards him. Bugbear barely has time to react when there is an explosion of other-worldly light from behind him, accompanied by what seems like a thousand voices chanting in unison.
The light passes harmlessly through Bugbear, but slams into the attacking creatures with incredible force. As his eyes adjust from the flash, Bugbear sees that Viola as well is writhing in pain. No time to wonder about it now, as the moaning and shuffling of more creatures echo from the darkness towards them.
Spoiler(1d20+6)[15] Initiative
Readied attack does not go off, as nothing within Bugbear's reach went after Viola.Last edited by MiketheMountain; 2012-06-20 at 09:37 AM.

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Viola is not expecting an attack from her alleged allies, but still manages to resist the worst effects of Radiel's good-intentioned treachery. She screams -- a high, girlish sound -- as the searing divine light washes over her. Blood drums in her ears as her mind races.
Was that an accident? How could it have been? Did the Deva go rogue? No, Bugbear was unharmed. What just happened!?
SpoilerViola takes 15 Radiant damage. Thanks Gigi Digi for the avatar.

From out of the darkness rush two pale, figures with scabbed skin and blank eyes. Their movements are stiff but swift. Evil pours from them as their wiry, hunched bodies lurch in to attack. Claws tipped with crusted fingernails swipe at Bugbear and Viola.

Melhved
Giving one glance to the back to reassure herself of no ambush, Mel rushes forward, weaving through the crowd of allies to try and find a spot to swing from. As she sneaks around the corner behind Viola, the pale fiends lash out at her with their crusty claws but fall harmlessly on her shield. Sliding forward, she swings a leveled blow at the fiend held by Bugbear not only cutting deep into its flesh, but also entreating the earth to grip the fiend more tightly.

Re: The World in Revolt IC
Radiel swings his rod vindictively and intones a syllable that shakes the very foundations of the structure. An enormous bolt of lightning shoots from the ceiling and engulfs one of the spawn, arcing through the field and striking its nearby allies. The creatures, thoroughly charred by the strike, begin to convulse and twitch, unable to move to their own defense.
"Unleash your wrath!" he shouts furiously.
SpoilerI shift to E2 and invoke Lightning's Revelation on Type 2-3. It hits 2-3, 2-1, and 1-1.
These attacks are versus reflex.
(1d20+10)[30] 2-3
(1d20+10)[22] 2-1
(1d20+10)[29] 1-1
Anyone hit has all defenses reduced by 3 until the end of my next turn and takes the following damage:
(2d6+10)[18] lightning damage
(2d6)[11] - potential bonus critical damage (crit on 2-3, they take 22 damage plus this amount)
EDIT: Since none of my attacks missed, I'm removing my Memory of a Thousand Lifetimes roll, hence the warning below the post.
I'm also activating my Rod of Blinding Awe's daily power to immobilize 1-1 until the end of my next turn.
EDIT2: I made a small miscalculation and forgot my Mark of Storm.
All damage is one point less than rolled and I slide 2-3 to B6, 2-1 to B5, and leave 1-1 where he is.
