Each cabin has rooms A-D. The main lodge has plenty of bunk space, but there are no separate rooms.

Cabin 5 - Maple is reserved for visitors who do not want to stay at the lodge. They are requested to check in at the main lodge, where any member can give them permission to stay for a few days. Longer than that, and unless they are in need, they would be requested to either join or move to their own place or one of the local inns.

New cabins can be added as the plot demands it. Here is a list of unused tree names:

Description of the new GLoG setting:

After the original GLoG building was destroyed by an army of catpeople, the survivors took out a mortgage and purchased Phoenix Lake Campground. Facilities include the main lodge house, a bathhouse with separate male and female sections, a stable (no horses present), various picnic shelters, and a few scattered cabins. It's set in the foothills of the Acro mountains, and mainly surrounded by woods. There are many hiking trails nearby leading to mountaintop vistas, waterfalls, seacoves, and various other locations, both within this thread, and in the Outside thread. The campground is also within easy walking distance of the Taverna Generica and the city of Inside.

At the lake, there is a small dock with a little shed nearby where a few canoes and paddleboats are stored. (They probably should be inspected first before trying to put them in the water.) The swimming area has a GIANT slide and a rope swing. Because GIANT slides and rope swings are awesome. There is also a playground under the trees, set back from the lake somewhat, and a set of horseshoe pits.

Having been built on a Generic Ancient Burial Ground, Phoenix Lake Campground is haunted by various ghosts. They are generally harmless, and for the most part glad to have some company, though pranks and hijinks may occur. Ghosts, like the drones of old, can be NPC'd by anyone. They tend to speak in Gray.

[Lake, Southern Shores]

Our descriptive tour starts here, because NK has jurisdiction here.

The southern shore is a gentle slope descending into the waters of the lake, sandy here and there, and perfect for waders and swimmers. There are no high banks along the water, which is normally quite pleasant. Being winter, of course, it is rather chilly. The foliage around the lake isn't prickly or harsh at all, and a free trees provide shade for those inclined to lounge nearby.

[South Meadow]

Immediately south of the central shoreline is a rather nice meadow. Although winter has robbed it of some joy and vitality, [South Meadow] will be a lovely spot for picnics when warmth returns, with soft grass, pretty blooms, and an arrangement of surrounding trees that lets in just enough wind to cool you off in the summer but blocks enough so that the windchill doesn't freeze you.

As the tree line thickens, conifers and deciduous trees grow in thick clumps, making a patchy canopy overhead. Hiking trails wind through it here and there, but it is mostly overgrown; the southern woods are a more remote and neglected part of the campground.

The bare wooden limbs of the deciduous trees contrast sharply with the continued vitality and life of the firs and other conifers. The elevation gently slopes up the deeper south you go, wit forested hills rising and eventually the great peaks of the mountains forming the southern part of the valley.

[Once in a lifetime, you get a new beginning]

GLoG, was blown apart and torn down, those who visited it mourned the loss of such an extravagant building, and for the loss of a landmark they grew up with. When they heard word of it being rebuilt, from almost the ground, people came to see, and to work. The following is an excerpt from a journal of a woman who came to see the new place...

On the northern shores of the lake, 'tis easy to see why they pick such a place. To the south it one range of mountains, sandy beaches and old forgotten trails, on the north side, things are rockier. For example, even as I write this, I stand on the head of a short cliffside some six feet above the glistening blue waters, well they are frozen over with ice at the moment, glittering in the sun, but I can imagine the summer view...

To look around, turning in an eastward fasion, it's easiest to notice the grey mountain peak of the beginning of the northern range, the massive waterfall feeding the lake shining white even from here, there are the forested groves and the low growing holly bushes, some dead for the winter, others still a vibrant green as thier sort dictates. To the north, I will have to travel through the woods, to be looking upon the sights. Coming back 'round to the west, you can see the battered place of old, where a graveyard must have stood, some pitted old pillars and laystones of granite grown over with moss, and pushed aside by saplings.

Upon starting the climb up the hillsides about the mountainous locale, I noticed that where some rockslides had taken the face away from the lower mountain revealing black, midnight cracks into the roots of the world, leading who knows where, and sealed for who knows how long. Ah! I have reached a merry pinnacle, about halfway up those imposing peaks. Oh, 'tis cold, certainly, but any who dare venture up this far are surely in for a treat of wonder. Looking down across the forest, you can see the blackened trees to the west, and the breaks in the treeline where the cabins and lodges stand empty, with the little cleared roads drawing snaked pathes between them.

Up here, you can taste the frigid air, and only the lowest growing bushes are able to grow at all. Miraculously, when I stopped in a little enclave on the side of the hill, heading back down now, there were blueberries growing! In the middle of winter, no less! Unfortunately, there was a storm brewing, and I had no time to stop and wait. One thing did catch my eye though, on the way down, that somehow I couldn't see from the peak, and I have yet to drop by the main lodge itself to see, but from here I could see a tree, massive beyond reason of twisted branches and a trunk easily as large as a house, I would say it was a blue ash, but they couldn't possibly grow so tall...

Island: (by Rebonack)

In the midst of the lake there is a small island. Getting here is a bit of a swim unless other means of transportation are available.

It's generally sandy with more than a few alder trees quite happy to take advantage of the water. Everything is powdered with a light application of snow, disturbed by only the occasional bird footprints. Isn't exactly the sort of location large animals come to.

The place is largely wooded with the occasional granite boulder sticking out of the snow, strange swirling petroglyphs etched into them. And in the middle of the island is a structure of decent size. A low, squat building of stacked stones. Looks to be a crypt of some kind.

Should one step into the barrow...

It's dark inside. And kinda wet. The walls are carved with the same odd swirling sigils that were found on several of the stones outside. In the middle of the ruin lies a huge stone table, ancient glyphs ringing the edge. The slab appears to have broken ages ago, split right down the middle. Several windows allow sunlight to filter in, causing the various stone to cast long shadows.

Or at least they do when the skylights aren't covered in snow.

Buildings:

Main Lodge: This large building contains an industrial kitchen with a cafeteria style serving area, and an open space that was once used as the dining hall. The space is warmed by a massive fireplace. Bunk beds are lined up on one end of the hall, opposite the kitchen, and a few comfy chairs and sofas are beginning to appear around the fireplace as they are procured. The building itself is made of stone.

Bathhouse: This building is divided into the men's and women's bathhouses, with entrances at either end. It has shower stalls, a line of sinks, and toilet stalls in each. By now, the shower curtains have been replaced and the whole area has been scrubbed to cleanliness and usability.

Cabins: Each cabin has 4 rooms, each with shelves and space for three bunk beds. The ones nearest to the lodge have been cleaned out and are habitable, though they lack furniture and any source of heat.

Workshop: A well built cabin designed by Reelshka, containing nothing at present but the Mainframe installation. It is locked.

Infirmary:

The outside of the infirmary looks just like all the rest of the buildings. Nothing distinguishes it at all.

But inside, everything is white, with silver highlighting. Even though it doesn't seem possible, when looking from outside, sunlight filters inside. Giving the place a warm feeling with natural light.

A soft, soothing music filters through the whole building and words can barely be heard saying words of healing and comfort, like: "You are going to be okay." "We'll take care of you." "You are dear to us." and so on.

Each room is walled off for a limited amount of privacy, because the pixies know that humans seem to need this. Strange. But it is limited. There are no doors.

Except the angles are more severe, so that people on the other side of the hall can't see into anyone's room. Only someone intentionally looking in, can see you.

There is also a small living area in the back which includes a small kitchen and bedroom among a few other things.

About the Drones Mk 2:

In other news, the drones are back at GLoG.

• Drones are NPCs who can be played by anyone, within the guidelines below
• Their Primary Function is member safety
• They no longer have teleport beams or alignment scanners
• They do have stun beams and the ability to record what's going on around them
• They follow orders, unless those orders conflict with their Primary Function
• There are only 10-12 in operation at any one time
• They can be destroyed, but if so, they'll be restored from backup
• A few have been supplied with medical programming, and thus can be godmodded for infirmary duties.
• Sadly, they have no cake fixation. Sunny arrived after the Top Secret Cake Baking Kitchen had been abandoned.

Attention villains:

Conflict is great! It's the heart of any story, and there isn't much to roleplay without it. However, as a player to player courtesy, please check in with the players who are active at any given time before launching an attack. Not everyone wants to roleplay combat scenes, and sometimes there are other things going on that players don't want to interrupt for a random fight. Either a PM/IM to players, a short post in thread to say ((Mind if I introduce a villain here?)) or a longer post in the OOC thread if it's a larger plot is appreciated.

Also, please don't plan any villainy that will result in destroying the base or having the same effect (poisoning the lake, burning down the forest, etc.)

Base Defences:

So Khiansa goes around the grounds, casting alarm spells around the surrounding woods, and wards against the weaker classes of undead, devil or demon (eg. Those least likely to be PCs ), weak wards to limit the strength of destructive magic, and other such weak fields of protection, in order to make things a bit safer in general, before he can eventually go back over and make stronger, more selective wards.
After setting up the wards, he'll start the considerably harder work of magically fortifying the buildings themselves, especially the lodge, weaving spells of protection and strength in between and through the building materials, so that they may better withstand attack.

NB: As part of a continuing effort to move away from DnD and become more freeform, there is no longer any inbuilt organizational capability of 'alignment detection'. Individual PCs may or may not have this ability.

Harnel smiles sadly to her. "Whisper, this is the Nexus - it's an entirely different world. I'm not from here either. But believe me when I say this - There's always a way home. I just stay because I like it here and the people I love are here too."

"I love Grass-bringer, but he isn't here." Whisper says.

[Infirmary]

"Brand." Lisor says, smiling, though obviously still in pain. In factshe's shuddering a bit, "You're wonderful. But please, shut up so she can grow my feet back, ok?"

She doesn't seem to notice Reelshka

Brand shuts up and tries to be supportive.

[Infirmary]

Reelshka keeps waiting in the back with a worried expression. The fact that the patient discussed is a goblin adds some racial solidarity to her concern.

[Outside]

Brinika is approaching he halflings. It's the first time she sees someone more or less her size outside the goblin colony.

Tiko and Lily are climbing out of the water for another go at the slide. Seeing another child though, they both stop. "Hi! Wanna play with us?" Tiko asks.

[Halae]

[Infirmary]

The pieces missing from Lisor will grow back then; she's not resisting the effect. How quickly does this happen?

Brand probably succeeds at being supportive though, and despite Lisor telling him to be quiet, she really appreciates his company and help.

[Water]

Harnel nods and whispers, "And that's why you'll see him again. Always hold onto that love."

[Morty]

[Outside]

Sure. I'm Brinika and this is Caretaker. Who're you? A lot of people seem to have come to the campsite all of a sudden.

Pretty quickly- it should take about ten minutes overall.

Zero is looking around the base. He is wondering how the redemption stuff works. So far he has not really done anything.

Giant Slide

Tiko, who is 8 years old, bows solemly. "I am Tiko Applehill, and this is my sister Lily."

Lily giggles at her brother pretending to be grownup. "Do you live here? This is a nice place! I like the slide!"

Lake Grass

Whisper looks up at Harnel, for a moment looking like she's going to cry. But she fights it, and looks down again, running her hands through the muck. "I will. Always."

Infirmary

Brand will wait with Lisor as long as it takes. He's really getting anxious to check on Pansy and the kids, but he knows Pathfinder will keep them safe, and right now, Lisor's needs are more urgent.

Outside

In addition to the people, there are also four massive Aurochs (giant oxen) roaming around and grazing in the marshy part of the lakeside. They stand about 2 meters high at the shoulder, and have large horns, but they seem quite calm.

Harnel nods and says, "Whenever you need it, you'll always have a home with me and my family. I'll always be willing to help you, with whatever you need."

[Infirmary]

Lisor will stay as still as possible during the entire time. Because of the pain, however, if he's close enough she'll eventually grab Brand by the arm and squeeze hard. She's not a strong girl by any means, but she has a tight grip, and the poor halfling likely won't be able to escape, even if he won't be hurt by this.

Once her feet are regenerated though, she'll relax, glad that the pain is going away. She's breathing heavy from the stress, though, and looks fairly tired.

Zero is looking around the base. He is wondering how the redemption stuff works. So far he has not really done anything.

If he goes in the Main Cabin, Zero might find the notice about Dr Burnett offering appointments for psychotherapy and a sign up sheet. But because she's kind of tiring to play for me, she doesn't have any appointments available until next week. Hopefully I'll have a bit more energy to play her then.

I think Sophie and Irene are only doing their redemption work by word of mouth.

Shallow Water

"I like you." Whisper says, and then she abruptly flops down onto her belly in the water and starts 'swimming' away. Though she's staying only in the shallow areas where grass still grows and thus not actually swimming, she's moving really fast.

Infirmary

Brand lets her squeeze as tight as she needs to, even though it'll probably leave bruises later. After everything the rescued slaves have been through, a few bruises in a good cause is nothing.

"How do you feel now?" he asks. "Do you need anything? Food? Wine?"

Halfling. Of course he thinks of food first.

[Shallow Water]

Harnel watches as Whisper speeds off. Now to get out of the damn water.

He stands up, his pants soggy and the bottom of his shirt just as wet, and heads back of to the wagons, to check on the captured slavers

[Infirmary]

Lisor nods, "Meat." She says simply, and her stomach grumbles in agreement, "I haven't had any good meat in so long."

Well, food was the right thing to think of at this time

And he will meet Cessie who have already been checking them out. "Eh, hello? You took a bath?" The mage asks with a curious smile.

[Halae]

[Wagons]

Harnel shrugs, "Sat down to have a talk with whisper. She just happened to be in the lake at the time." He's smiling, happy that almost everything was resolved well.

[Shadowcaller]

[Wagons]

"Ah, I see. Whisper is quite spirited, you like her don't you?" Cessie asks, smiling back at Harnel.

[Halae]

"I do," he says, "I don't know why. She just sort of brings something out in me that makes me want to help her."

The slavers are still there - alive and unhappy.

Infirmary >> Main Lodge Kitchen

"You bet," Brand says. "I'll be back in a jiffy." He heads out and, with halfling instinct, finds his way to the kitchen in the Main Lodge. (The kitchenette in the infirmary isn't suitable at all. ) He gives an appraising look at the oxen, and another at the calf that was summoned recently by Valeira, but he hopes he won't have to butcher any of them. Well, not tonight. He'll be perfectly happy to butcher tomorrow, when there isn't a hungry goblin lass waiting.

He gets to the kitchen and is pleased to find a well stocked larder. Most of the meat is frozen, but a pork leg roast is in the fridge, thawed and ready to cook. Brand finds a stool to stand on and happily chops some steaks off of the roast and starts them cooking, then gets to scrubbing and peeling some vegetables. He can take Lisor a few pork chops, but he'd need a lot more than one leg of pork to fill up the bellies of the halfling family.

The two halfling children suddenly freeze as they're speaking with Brinika. "Food!" Lily cries. "Dad's making pork chops!" Tito exclaims. They immediately race each other to the kitchen, expecting Brinika to follow them just as eagerly.

Kitchen

Brand is just putting the chops onto a plate as his children race in. "This is for Lisor. Make your own." he says. The kids pout a little, but they know the goblin lady was badly hurt, so they aren't too resentful. And both of them can already cook as well as the average adult human, other than needing chairs to reach the stovetop. Tito carries on with preparing the rest of the roast and the vegetables, while Lily starts some bread rising.

Infirmary

About twenty minutes after he left, Brand arrives in the infirmary with a plate of pork chops. "They probably aren't as tender as they should be, but I didn't want to take time for a marinade."

They're delicious. Absolutely delicious.

Since they were ignored in the Infirmary, the three elves are here too. They'll offer to help however they can, but they aren't good cooks and know only the basics. They do seem to be able to interpret what the others will do without talking, though, as they worked together in a kitchen for months without tongues and charades really slows things down; bad for an impatient diner.

Lisor is the smiliest goblin you ever did see when Brand gets back. She's was wiggling her toes while waiting for the food, but when he starts approaching she can smell the food, at will meet him at the door. It's been so long since she used a fork that she just sort of stabs the meat and begins eating it off the fork.

The porkchops are pure nirvana. she says with a full mouth, "Tha's goo'," and she continues to shovel in as much as brand brought her.

Harnel motions for the two of them to leave the wagon so that they're not talking in front of the slavers, and steps back outside, "It's something that's been suggested to me before. Of course, being a nice guy gets me in waaay too much trouble."

Oddball is, of course, with Jamie. Sitting in her lap, I believe Oddball was when last he was undeadtimed.

Cessie move backwards and then chuckles at Harnel's comment. "Same with me, being good always got me in trouble, but it also led to a lot of good things. I wouldn't have had you for example." She smiles. "Pretty romantic around here though, don't you think? Quite unlike watching Watchtowers interior for hours in."

Brand watches a little enviously. Oh sure, he may have eaten one or three pork chops already, but he's still hungry. "Will you be okay? I need to go and check up on the kids and the Missus."

Kitchen

The halfling children are happy to have the help, especially with anything requiring height or reach. But they'll probably be offering a lot of helpful corrections and advice when they see that the elves know almost nothing about cooking!

The lodge kitchen is huge - made to cook for 200 campers, and the children take advantage of that to make enough food for all of the rescued slaves, plus all of the GLoG members that they've seen on site. Basically, cooking enough for an army!

Pansy, their mother, arrives, but sits down and lets the kids work. Part of her is itching to work in a real kitchen again, but most of her is too emotional at seeing her children so happy and resilient to do more than watch happily and try to keep from crying again.

The elves probably know more than I do, but are willing to learn more. Especially since it helps the children forget about their ordeal. If one can manage it, they'll slip off to sit next to the mother and give her a hug.

It occurs to me that perhaps the mother isn't in need of a hug, and if so that bit won't happen. I'm not too good with emotions.

Lisor doesn't say anything but nods and smiles, her mouth still full of food. She understands dedication to family, and is actually surprised Brand stayed with hr as long as he had. She'll swallow and say, "Go ahead. You've done more than enough for me." a grin on her face.

[Outside the Wagons]

"WATCH is nice, but it doesn't really have anything on this place, does it?" Harnel smiles, "It makes me wonder - Do you think we should get our own place away from the Tower?"

"Of course we should Harnel, but keep in mind I represent WATCH in the council so I need to be there a lot. I do have an elemental stone in the council though... I did tell you about this right?" She moves to sit down near the lake.
"In any case, any idea where you would want to live?"

Brand bows to her and scampers off.

Hopefully Brianna will tell her when she can walk on her new feet, because Brand certainly can't advise her.

Kitchen

Pansy accepts the hugs happily. She'll even talk with them a little, in a low voice, about their ordeal, since she's heard that they were also kept as slaves. She won't give many details. Mostly just about the fear for her children, and how horrible it was watching as Ezra trained them to be subservient.

Brand arrives in the kitchen and gives his wife a hug and a kiss before returning to kitchen duty.

"Yeah, you told me about that," Harnel says, sitting down beside her, "I think where we'd live would depend n what we want to do there. Do we want to be in the city? Outside it? how large do we want the place to be? Things like that we need to consider."

Lisor continues to eat, of course. She's just happy to have good food and no real wounds to speak of.

The elf is willing to share his story.

The elves were owned by an elf, who was an ex-drow temple slave and had been raised in the belief drow were superior. She was a tyrant, and had cut out their tongues so they could not reveal anything to visitors about her; she was a priestess of Dalachrech, a god of Invertebrates. They don't know anything else about Dalachrech, and were taught how to cook and escaped through a half-elf and a mysterious warrior-woman who I can't remember the description of. The half-elf had silver hair and control over plants. At night, they were kept in a locked room, chained to the wall. It was a fortress-temple, a 'hermitage', and only the four of them to tend it. There was a fifth, but he was executed to show the others what would happen should they escape. Another was taken away and none know what happened to him.

Oddball had fallen asleep... Regardless, it looks up at Jamie, slightly sleepy, and nods. "Oddish!"
