[Nexus-Plot] Nexus Champion

[ThirdEmperor]

About a half mile away from Inside, construction workers are hauling around large amounts of metal and timber, building what appears to be an arena atop a large grassy hill. Nearby, a neon sign flashes the words:

Riv sits a short distance away in a lawn chair, glass of lemonade in hand as he watches the zombie-like workers begin to set up the seats for the observers.

Ire steps in. "I'm here. Need a judge? You can trust a demon!"

Riv looks at Ire, sipping his drink. Yeah, sure. Judges are however wants to judge at the time. No being caught taking bribes though.

[UncleWolf]

Fluffy approaches the check in desk at his full height. He'll look down at the person there and growls.

It seems he wants to be able to fight.

[ThirdEmperor]

Riv looks up from his drink. Eep.

[UncleWolf]

Fluffy looks down at the man, still waiting to be signed in.

"What's the problem? Sign him in! Haven't you heard of Fluffy? From the Arena?" a voice calls out from somewhere near Fluffy's shoulder. If Riv looks waaaay way up, he'll see a pixie sitting there.

[ThirdEmperor]

Oh! You want to compete as well? Riv says, quickly pulling a clipboard out of his coat and writing Fluffy on it. We'll need a blood sample, in order to make sure he's not jumped up on magical elixer or anything.

[UncleWolf]

Fluffy scowls. Does it look like he needs drugs or magic?

Besides, it's not like he has many soft spots to draw blood from. Though, assuming it happens, the "drug" screen would pull up that he's infused with demonic energies.

[ThirdEmperor]

Riv looks at Fluffy's scowl, and quickly reconsiders. This fellow here is in charge of taking blood samples. He says, grabbing a nearby Drone and thrusting an adamantine hypodermic needle into it's hands. The Drone looks at Fluffy, and very carefully attempts to withdraw blood from an area that doesn't look too sensitive.

There's not many places that aren't covered by scales, but we'll assume they get a sample.

Another monster shows up to the arena! This one is only eleven feet tall, but it's purple and wearing a tuxedo, monocle, and top hat. Eig'Quzi surveys the area with a slight hint of displeasure. It doesn't like these kind of things. Ah, well.

The purple people eater approaches Riv, and... holds up a cat?

"This feline would like to compete in your games."

The tiny black kitten mewls in affirmation. Or maybe for another reason entirely; I don't speak Cat. Besides, some of the things THAT CAT says are best left untranslated.

Once it's managed to draw blood, the Drone runs away, not wanting to be anywhere near Fluffy any longer than needed.

Riv cautiously looks out from behind the lawn chair at Eig'Quzi. Hey! You found my cat! I wondered where the little scamp had got to. He says, pulling a live goldfish from his pocket and offering it to THAT CAT.

[VampireRot]

Eig'Quzi chuckles as the little kitten hungrily devours the offered fish and absorbs its life essence. Cute thing.

"I doubt a creature like this one could ever truly 'belong' to someone."

"Murrrr."

THAT CAT licks its chops and glances toward Fluffy. The tiny black kitten, pretty much an insect to the dire rancor half-dragon, blinks its eyes in greetings. No fear at all.

A small white cat with armored plates on its shoulders and a barbed tail leaps off of Fluffy's shoulder and into his hand to hiss at THAT CAT. Fluffy bends over at the demon and CAT to give them a sniff.

[ThirdEmperor]

Well, I was the one feeding him. Riv says.

"Just be glad you're not the one it's feeding on."

Eig'Quzi chuckles again. It glances at Fluffy, but doesn't seem bothered by the huge monster either. THAT CAT lowers its ears and hisses right back at the other cat.

The demon smells of fabric and mercury. And demons too, I guess. The kitten smells like a kitten should.

[Falgorn]

Shas'La, local Tau Fire Warrior, approaches the building, with eyes full of bemused wonder. He picks up his pulse rifle, getting a feel for it, then steps forward. "Hello, would I be able to join this, ah, competition?"

[UncleWolf]

Fluffy snorts, and the CAT and demon will feel and smell some acidic fumes on his breath before he turns and looks for an entrance for his size.

Riv looks at the Tau. You a cyborg, or fully robotic?

The arena is still being built, currently only the stands and the beginning of an entrance have been completed, even the walls around the arena is still being set up.

Riv looks at Ire, sipping his drink. Yeah, sure. Judges are however wants to judge at the time. No being caught taking bribes though.

Don't worry. I won't get caught. Ire smirks.

Michalson emerges from a shadow and looks around, searching for someone who might be in charge.

Riv waves to the fellow AMENite, before speaking to Ire. Kay. You want to compete as well, or what?

[Morty]

Michalson approaches Riv. He doesn't like him, but, well, there's not a whole lot of people the shadowmage does like. Ahoy, cutter. I've heard you're hosting some sort of tournament here.

[Falgorn]

Riv looks at the Tau. You a cyborg, or fully robotic?

"I am neither; I am Tau, superior in all aspects. Combat is my specialty." Shas'La notes, offering a gloved hand to shake.

Phil is hauling in the cameras he's made and linking them up with a wireless generator and power transference device. He overhears Shas'La
"Tau?" he asks, "Not that you guys aren't cool or anything, but aren't you crap in close combat? And don't you normally work and fireteams? And what's up with worshiping the ethereals, man? They look like they got some snaky stuff goin' on."

[VampireRot]

"Well, if that's all I need to do to sign the cat up, I'll be going."

Eig'Quzi gently puts THAT CAT down on the ground, and pats it on the head with a giant spike arm.

"Now, have a jolly good time with your barbaric bloodsport, little feline."

And then the purple people eater will leave! Unless someone stops the eleven foot monstrosity on the way out.

Riv shakes the Sas'La's hand. So you're organic?

Meanwhile, a Pizza Drone hands Michalson the signup sheet. Be with you in just a minute.

Shas'La nods, finding these three questions the most common since he's come to the Nexus. "It is true, the average Tau Fire Warrior is not as capable as other armies in close combat. But keep in mind the Tau Empire comes from a universe where being murdered painlessly is the most peaceful way you can die.
A Tau Fire Warrior is trained in close combat, but without the augmentations that the Gue'La Space Marines possess, we are lacking. Fire Teams are the norm, but I am not here on purpose. Survival skills and learning how to work by yourself are necessary to be a Fire Warrior.
I am being lenient here, now. But do not disrespect the Ethereals in my sight again." He turns back to Riv.
"Yes, I am organic."
