[Murkus]

"I don't understand." Bellan says, expression flat.

[Earl of Purple]

Billinillib's face falls. Not literally, and not the make-up one either. "Well, um, when humans weep, also referred to as crying, it can make a 'boo-hoo' noise, and is often written down as such in works of fiction. Um, do you weep when sad, severely hurt or extremely happy?"

[Murkus]

"I can, yes. I've never heard the phrase before, however." Bellan's jaws click up in a broad, amused smile. "Again, clever. Do something else please, Billinillib."

[Earl of Purple]

"Um, let's see. Why did the dinosaur cross the road?" This one wasn't funny the first time I heard it.

[Murkus]

"I don't know. Why?" Bellan asks. He seems to actually recognize the term 'dinosaur'.

[Earl of Purple]

"Because the chicken hadn't been invented yet." I'd say it goes downhill from here, but I'm not sure it can. It definately doesn't go uphill, though.

[Murkus]

Bellan, unfortunately, doesn't know the chicken joke. "But why would a chicken cross a road?"

[Earl of Purple]

"To get to the other side." Billinillib says it deadpan, as he doesn't find it funny. Unfortunately, a joke which the teller doesn't find funny rarely is funny.

[Murkus]

Bellan blinks, seeming to understand. He gives a deep, clicking chuckle. "Heh. Hm. I'm quite certain you can improve with practice, brother Billinillib. I already find you funny."

[Earl of Purple]

"Really? Well, that is good to hear." Though no PCs have been negative about his performance yet. "I've been practicing since I was twelve, and haven't much improved, though." Billinillib goes back to juggling playingcards. He's really bad at it.

[Murkus]

"Do you enjoy this profession?" Bellan asks, watching.

[Earl of Purple]

"I enjoy making people laugh, so yes. But I don't make people laugh very often, which makes me unhappy. My dad raised me to be a harlequin, and I don't know anything else I could do." That last sentence is a lie, to an extent.

[Murkus]

"If you're more unhappy more often than not, can't you learn how to do something else that makes you happy?" Bellan asks.

[Earl of Purple]

"I couldn't do that! My family's been harlequins since before the invention of fire! It's what we do, y'know?" Billinillib seems shocked at the suggestion.

[Murkus]

"Astounding. Though I think you mean the discovery of fire. Still, your family must be thousands of years old." Bellan says, brow risen. The giant clicks. "Tradition isn't everything. You must do what makes you most happy."

[Earl of Purple]

"It's probably exaggeration and boasting; I lack a surname making it near-impossible to trace my family tree. But it's what dad always told me, and that's enough for me. And I do mean invention; watch." Billinillib holds a hand out and it bursts into flames, with a wince and the smell of burning flesh. The harlequin beats the flames down after a while, nursing his slightly burnt hand. "That was stupid of me! I never get that right."

[Murkus]

"I assume that was not supposed to set your hand on fire?" Bellan says, a tad confused again. The giant clicks. "I can give you some salve for that, if you like."

[Earl of Purple]

"Yes and no. It was supposed to coat my hand in a special oil that doesn't burn very hot so my hand looks like it is on fire when it isn't really. Unfortunately, the oil burnt hotter than it was supposed to. Again. Maybe I'm using the wrong kind of oil. Salve would be appreciated, thank you." This is based largely on a book about vikings I've got; it's fiction, and at one point a Christian missionary comes along and to proove God's power sets himself alight with no harm. The main character, formerly in the Varangian Guard of the Byzantine Empire, knew such tricks and later challenged him to do it again, this time without the oil. The missionary died, I believe.

[The Bushranger]

Fade is even more confused now.

"You drink to forget things, but you can't forget them cause after you are back to normal you remember?"

Poor Fade now he nearly forget why he firat talked to her.

"That's pretty much it," Eileen says, her Black Shadow-ed brain quite able to wrap around the whole thing with no problem at all.

[Murkus]

There's a reason not to lie about such things. I've heard similar things where, if you snap your fingers together with a particular powder, a flame will light. Held correctly, you won't get burned.

Hopefull Bill doesn't decide to try something similar. >.>

"An impressive feat, done correctly." Bellan says, straightening and stepping toward the clown. He offers a tube of salve, which will likely null the pain and soothe the burns. Even start healing them fairly quickly.

"That's pretty much it," Eileen says, her Black Shadow-ed brain quite able to wrap around the whole thing with no problem at all.

"But isn't that an endless circle? After you remember you want to forget again and so on? Well as long as this get drunken thing leaves no side effects it would be fine right?"

Fade says like he means it, not knowing of the headach after or the things drunken people may do.

Gus Acre, a tall and muscular man who seems to ooze confidence and sex appeal, wanders into Trog's and looks around. Since he doesn't see any PC ladies unattended, he wanders over to a hot looking brunette npc and buys her a drink as an excuse to start chatting her up.

[Morty]

Dorotha is sitting by a table away from the back, drinking coffee and reading a book. As usual when doing it, she's not paying too much attention to her surroundings.

Gus takes note of Dorotha when she adjusts her book a little. Interesting. Not as pretty as the girl he's with, but perhaps more of a challenge. He decides to give the girl a bit of a brush off, which is surprising and confusing to the poor npc, and returns to the bar.

A few minutes later, Nina brings Dorotha a glass of very nice red wine. "Compliments of the gentleman at the bar."

[Morty]

Dorotha looks up and blinks, quite surprised. Noone has ever bought her a drink before. Thank you. She considers it for a moment and decides it would be rude not to walk over there and thank him, so she does, holding the glass awkwardly. I, er, that was you who sent me this glass? If so, thank you.

"You looked so charming, engrossed in your studies, I couldn't resist," Gus says, with a roguish smile. "If I am interrupting, I'll gladly let you return to your book, but might I have the honour of learning your name?"

[Morty]

Dorota looks very confused. No, this book isn't really anything important. Just leisure reading. I'm Dorota, Dorota Brońska. If Gus looks at the book, it'll turn out to be Speculum Alchemiae by Roger Bacon, which is apparently Dorota's idea of leisure reading.

"Augustus Acre. But please, call me Gus," he says. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Dorota."

[Morty]

It's, er, nice to meet you too... Gus. Dorota isn't really comfortable with being on a first name basis with people she hardly knows. So what brings you here today?

[happyturtle]

"Nothing in particular. Just drinks and, hopefully, some interesting company." He's glanced at the book title by now, and takes a guess. "You're interested in alchemy?"
