I never noticed that the rift moved from the Azurite Palace to Xykon's tower. I wonder how that happened? Was it ever explained?

Xykon moving or rebuilding another tower would had been a plausible explanation. However the rift was no where near the tower when V made her entrance.

So, I'd chalk this up to a continuity error.

I see no issues with the distance. Under none of the instances is the rift not some distance away. Any meseurable distance between it and Xykon's Castle is due to a change in perspective when looking at the castle.

According to Redcloak's analysis the rate of growth had slowed considerably, and it took about three and a half months to reach that size it was at. He even estimated that the rift would grow no more than a hundred feet. Given the distance between Xykon's tower and the castle, Redcloak's math would have to be way off and the rift would cover half the city.

In comic 122, Timothy (the guy on the horse) is wearing boots that have a similar style to Roy's boots in the art upgrade many comics later. Were these boots the inspiration for the modern boot? Or was it boot foreshadowing?

I just noticed that in this strip, that the wooosh!!! keeps getting bigger and bigger until it shows Xykon on the dragon.

I saw that originally actually, but what I didn't notice that in the first panel where it shows their clothes blowing in the wind, there is an extremely tiny woosh there.

I just noticed that in the Order of the Scribble the Paladin(defender of all that's good and true) was in favor of keeping the gates and secret and the Illusionist seemed irritated and acted like he wanted to tell people.

Here's something I never noticed; checking this page, I never noticed the line about Soon's men purging all mentions of the gate and rifts from every library they came across.

In the comic right before the one you just linked the other characters are expressing grief over their fallen comrade and Girard implies that he is mad about keeping the gates and their story secret.

He also implies that it was Soons idea in particular.

I've never read that implication into what Girard is saying, but if he disagreed so strongly, he could have walked away; in fact, he could have ignored Soon entirely and told the world about the Gates. The fact he didn't means his disagreement can't have been that strong, even if your theory is correct!

(Incidentally, I think later events prove he looked so angry in that panel you're referring to because he blamed Soon for Kraagor's death, not because of any disagreement over whether to tell the world about the rifts or not).

Oh come now. He's not just mad at Kraagors death but also at the fact that Kraagor won't be remembered as a hero. He directs this anger at Soon and implies it was his fault. Soon must have been a strong proponent when the plan was proposed.

I always figured he was just saying something along the lines of what Dorukan says in the next comic; "You don't care if your allies fall, as long as you avenge your dead wife!"

Girard and Dorukan blame Soon for Kraagor's death; because, at least in their eyes, he did something completely reckless with no regards for Kraagor's safety, like he just didn't care about him. And if he doesn't care about him, well, he's not going to care enough to remember him like the others would. Soon will just forget about him.

I've never considered your view, though. I think both are viable.

I agree that Girard is angry about this, but I think he understands the necessity of keeping the Gates secret--it's mostly an outlet for his anger about Kraagor's death.
