And lately, I haven't been able to sleep as late (light, birds, noisy neighbors) so my old occasional craziness of "stay up until things are somewhat bright, then sleep until noon" hasn't been working at all.

Mostly because my mind now wakes me up at 8:30 or so to check on ponies.

Probably a good thing. If you sleep much longer than that then you'll spend the entire day catching up on the ponies you missed. Better to just not sleep at all and save time.

You have no idea how glad I am that the show didn't turn into this. The Elements of Harmony were great and all as an opener, but I would not have continued watching the show if they turned into a recurring thing. If it turned into a Sailor Moon series it would start following the same pattern as all those other shows, and I would very quickly have lost interest. And it would have been too easy for them to do that too.
