nothing too powerful. not more than the equivalent of lvl 4 in DnD...if that says anything to you. anything to power level D in other terms

Well, it's like this. In anime, the power of an attack is proportionate to the volume at which it's name is shouted, and the over-the-topness of said name. Exalted takes this to it's logical conclusion by making a character's power directly linked to the number of syllables in their name and titles. Thus, only the people with the absolute fanciest names possible are fit for Exaltation, while people with lesser names are relegated to NPC status. This also explains the lack of anyone named John, Fred or, worse yet, Tim. Due to their unfortunate names, they are too weak to survive and the Abyssals eat them.

In all seriousness, it's probably because they're less names and more descriptors.

For example, Triumphant Rose Guardian (to use one of my lesser-used ACRO characters as an example). You can tell she's a guardian of something right away. The Triumphant Rose bit is a bit harder to explain, but it's related to something a previous bearer of her Exaltation did, probably during the Primordial War. Defended a place that later became known for a beautiful garden? Or maybe even known for having a love for gardens.

...yeah, I actually don't know the full story behind her name. The point is, there generally is one. My Exalted characters in the Nexus tend to go by less silly names like Meidani or Karen or Zamira because... they've got a strong sense of who they were before Exaltation, and as such, tend to go by their names and not the titles of their Exaltation.

So, yeah. Think of it that way.

The gods names aren't as ridiculous as you'd expect, but they compensate by having plenty of them.

^ They did in my Exalted 40k game! The only thing scarier than an ork = a Lunar Exalted ork. The meanest and the greenest doesn't start to describe it.

No. If a being is not human, the Exaltation will not bond, as it's designed to bond to a human soul, and not anything else.

...theoretically, if all the humans died, animals might start getting Lunar Exaltations and they could repopulate humanity, since they'd get human forms. It's mentioned as a possibility in the Lunar book for 2e.

This is unlikely, though.
