Re: Playground Squares XI: And here we go again!
Well, I was going to go with the movie, First Spaceship on Venus, but decided that'd be too hard.
So instead, I chose the 1987 movie, Fatal Beauty, starring Whoopi Goldberg.
The story is, Rita Rizzoli (Whoopi) is a undercover narcotics cop trying to get drugs off the street. But things go from bad to worse, when a couple of new guys start moving in, and dealing bad product, Fatal Beauty. "The stuff will either kill ya, or make you crazy."
In the course of her investigation, Rizzoli's saddled with the crime boss's Head of Security, Mike Marshak (Sam Elliot), who's there to "Protect" her. And a fine job he does.
After a shootout at an abandoned warehouse, where the villains were selling the drugs, Rizzoli ends up in the hospitol, and no way to get home, without a cab.
Being the gentleman he is, Marshak convinces her to let him drive her home. Only, when they get there, Rizzoli finds that she has uninvited guest(s).
The question: What initially tips her off that things are not right at the Rizzoli homestead?

Re: Playground Squares XI: And here we go again!
Ahhh M. M is for another of my favorite movies, Mystery Men.
The basics of the story is seven nobody-heroes find themselves fighting against a Big-Time Super-Villain, when Champion City's Real Super Hero, Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear), disappears.
Our heroes are, in order of appearance:
Blue Raja (Hank Azaria)
Shoveler (William H. Macy)
Mr. Furious (Ben Stiller)
Invisible Boy (Kel Mitchell)
Spleen (Paul Reubens)
Bowler (Janeane Garofalo)
and the
Sphinx (Wes Studi)
After a scene showing just how a Real Hero saves the day, Captain Amazing tries to think of a Super Villain to give him a real challenge. Of the six Super Villains listed off, which of them is in Exile to who knows where?

Re: Playground Squares XI: And here we go again!
Wow, talk about a nostalgic movie choice. Its been a long time since I saw that movie, but I have a pretty good memory for these sort of things.
I remember something about a Father Doom and Death Man, but I think it was Baron Von Chaos who was the one in exile.Last edited by calar; 2012-02-09 at 07:01 PM.

Re: Playground Squares XI: And here we go again!
I only own one X movie, and that is XXX. No, not a porn. The movie, starring Vin Diesel.
Xander Cage (Vin Diesel), is a revolutionary fighting against correupt government officials in his own unique way. Evidently this revolves such stunts as stealing a senator's corvette, chased by the police, then launching said vette off a bridge, and ending by parachuting away from the falling vehicle to safety. After which, they post their antics onto the internet (I don't think there was YouTube yet).
Well, this catches the eyes of the governemt. Xander, and at least three other like-minded hooligans, are tested to find someone to go on a mission for the government. Yay!
Well, if you've ever watched a James Bond/Austin Powers flick, you know the ending. Xander gets the girl, Yelena (Asia Argento), and saves the day. Importance in that order.
TBFProgrammer, with this success in mind, where do we find the pair enjoying a well deserved vacation at the end of the movie?

Re: Playground Squares XI: And here we go again!
The movie is Zeus and Roxanne.
Filmed in 1997, Zeus and Roxanne is the family movie about a dog, a dolphin, and the two families brought together by these craaaazy critters.
Mary Beth (Kathleen Quinlan) is a marine biologist looking for a grant by studying Roxanne. Roxanne is a Dolphin (I hope that was obvious) who's been released from captivity into the wild. Mary Beth has two daughters; Judith (Majandra Delfino) and Nora (Jessica Howell).
And on the other side of the road lives the newly arrived Terry (Steve Guttenberg), a harley riding, commercial jingle writing, struggling musician. His son, Jordan (Miko Hughes) is the owner of Zeus, the dog.
Can we see where this story goes, or do I need to write more? If I do, look it up.
The question is, What is the name of Mary Beth's research boat?

Oh, goodness. Sorry everybody. I'm not familiar with the movie, but research would indicate that the name of the boat is Daily Planet. Why someone would name a boat Daily Planet is beyond me though.

Strangely enough, it was indeed called Daily Planet. I thought the name would throw you off, since it's also the name of the newspaper Clark Kent works for.

We need 2 new Contestants and 9 new Squares.
It has been pointed out to me that posting to be on the waiting list may discourage new players from joining. So I ask that the Current Squares and Contestants wait 24 hours before posting their interest to be in the next game. Thank you.
Exception: If a Square isn't asked a question in the course of the game, they are allowed to forego the 24 hour waiting period?
