Ok, ok. Before we have a civil war, I should come clean.
This whole 'Luna wants a foal' business was just me messing around with some alternate timelines, because I read a story on EAD that had promise but was really poorly written. I just wanted Luna to have a kid with Rainbow Dash, and I figured a touch of Phoe's Rainbows would ease the temporal transition.

But I forgot to account for everypony else, and with all the rest of you getting caught up in this, I can't really bring the timeline to fruition without damaging other, equally vital chronological events. So I'll try all nice-like, and let it go after that.

Luna, would you let an alternate reality version of yourself have a foal with Rainbow Dash, provided Fluttershy wasn't upset about it?

So, thinking on my simhata's back story, what are poniverse lions like? We know they have, had or at least know what they are, thanks to Gilda. We've seen two part lion creatures, the manticore, and of course griffons.

The manticore seemed to be little more than a wild animal, perhaps slightly higher intelligence than normal, while griffons are sentient, if jerks from the one canon example.

I'd actually expect lions to be like their real life versions, and actually fairly cosmopolitan (by which I mean you find them in a lot of environments. Big words are fun.) My reasoning is that during the last ice age, Lions were present on all of the continents except Australia and Antarctica. They're awesome like that, and in this world, the dominant life forms are herbivorous hoofed mammals, not humans (who compete with them for resources directly and hunt them down). Of course, I'd expect them to stay away from civilization unless they were desperate.
