Jensi
Jensi gasps loudly as the mysterious attacker slashes Aldrin grievously. "No you don't!" the youth calls defiantly as he dashes towards the injured sorcerer. "You're not going to get any of us!" He stretches out his hand, touching his friend's wound.
"Don't worry, Aldrin, you'll be alright!"

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Hearing the sounds of enemy's falling to his companions, Rennard reassesses the situation: These thugs had been told to wait outside the Maestro's Academy. If the party was to be successful at safely transporting Trinia outside of the city, more information on their foes was necessary
The fencer moves to the side of his enemy in order to diminish his tactical options. Then, the magus uses his expertise with the blade to attempt to knock the enemy unconcious instead of outright killing him

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Dastan charges towards one of the swordsmen who have sunk their blades into Aldrin. The man turns, bringing his blade up into a defensive posture, but the paladin, guided by Iomedae's righteous fury, cuts out his legs from under him. As he falls, Dastan's longsword drives through his heart, shining with golden light.
SpoilerThat's dead as dead can be.
No sooner has Dastan felled his foe then Tallox charges the other. The beyonder's jaws snap down like a bear-trap on the man's unfortunate neck. He falls limply to the ground.
Rennard lashes out at the final thug, striking him in the stomach with the flat of his rapier. The thug doubles over in pain, and the magus smashes him over the head with his sword's pommel. The man is out cold.
End of Fight.
Trinia stops singing, eyes wide. "Oh my Gods," she exclaims. She takes a deep breath. "That was exciting. I wish I could have captured the moment of victory on canvass, but... Oh well. It's probably for the best," she adds cheerily. "The last time I painted a picture it didn't turn out very well for me."
The door of the academy opens with a bang a second later, and Vencarlo comes out, an ornate, silver rapier in his hand. He surveys the carnage. "Ah, I see I was unduly concerned."Fantastic avatar by Ceika.

Aldrin groans as he limps into a standing position, coughing up crimson blood on the grass. The pain still lingers around his injuries, but he manages to say, in quite an annoyed tone, "Perhaps my theory that people want us dead isn't far from the truth. We need to get Trinia out of here."

Maestro, I was able to knock one of these thugs unconscious. It is highly probable that the information is compartamentelized, so I don't expect him to know much; but any information we can obtain from him on who is plotting Trinia's murder could prove invaluable. "Here," Jensi says gently as he places his hand on Aldrin's bleeding wound. "This will help." White light floods forth from his fingertips, closing the injury.

Dastan sheathes his blade after wiping off the blood of the fallen thugs on the clothing of the opponent he felled, then makes his way to Aldrin to assist Jensi. "I imagine it may have something to do with our attempt to thwart the Chancellor's plan, Jensi. Allow me to assist..." He places his right hand above Aldrin's wound, adding his own healing energy to Jensi's. "I suggest we continue with our mission immediately. The streets of Old Korvosa are busy and bustling, and no one seems to be looking too closely at you. Even the guards who stand at every intersection in their red and black tabards show no sign that they recognize Trinia beneath her disguise.
The bridge you take from the island of Old Korvosa to the mainland is lined with all manner of people. In a dilapidated stall, a merchant eyes Jensi suspiciously, arms folded. Across from this, a beggar, his face marred by a bulbous nose and covered in violent red pustules, leans against the bridge's rail, coughing. He looks up, his eyes unfocussed and blurry. "Hey!" he calls, his voice slurred and broken. "I know who... who... you guys are... unhhh..." His head rolls back and he appears to lose consciousness. Aldrin is right: if the rate of dissemination is within the same order of magnitude than the time we would need to finish our present task, there was nothing we could have done in the first place. The logical thing is to eliminate one problem at a time Rennard adds in support of Aldrin's argument

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Leaving the sick beggar slumped up against the edge of the bridge, you continue on your way.
The rest of the journey is without incident. No one seems to follow, nor are you accosted. The citizenry of Korvosa seems quite content to go about day to day business. The only attention you receive comes in the form of a gaggle of young ladies, who, seeing your sigils as champions of Korvosa, seem very interested in talking.
"You must be ever so gallant," one coos at Dastan, while another blows a kiss at Aldrin before breaking into giggles and whispering to her friend: "The dark ones are soooo cute!" The rest stand back, occasionally pointing and grinning.
SpoilerI just threw this scene in for colour; you'd be known by reputation by now, at least. I'll assume that you want to move along, but if anyone wants to respond, please feel free to do so.
--------------------------
The main gates of the city is a masterwork of engineering, a pair twenty foot tall steel doors, their inside faces latticed with magical runes and a line of cogs. They are spread apart, open to the world outside, but a squad of Korvosan guards stand flanking them. Their commander, a lightly-bearded blond man who appears Ulfen in features, stands, papers in hand, to intercept anyone wishing to pass either in or out. He waves a hay cart through as you near the gate.
SpoilerAlmost there. Plan your strategy. The gate is currently about 50 feet from you, the closest you can get without attracting the attention of the guards there.Last edited by Leviathan; 2012-02-04 at 07:18 PM.

Dastan marches directly to the guards at the gate, making sure that Trinia and the others follow close behind. He stops just short of the blonde-haired Commander and raises his fist to his chest. He announces quietly but matter-of-factly, "Good afternoon, Commander. My companions and I are escorting this woman out of the city for her protection; we believe that a group of criminals wish her dead. It is of the utmost importance that she reach safety before the group in question learns of her presence, and we've arranged for... The guard captain stares at Dastan, arms folded across his doublet-covered chest. He opens his mouth as if to speak, then closes it, visibly unsure of what to say. The guardsmen under his command exchange looks, equally perplexed. Aldrin's sharp words make them all jump, standing straight. The captain recovers his senses. "Right, uh, you'd better go right on through then. We'll, uh, make sure no one suspicious gets through until you get back." He waves you all through.
Beyond the city gates, a wide, well-maintained road meanders across verdant farmlands. A stable, its roof thatched and its side adorned with a bright red painted horse, sits immediately against the outside of the wall, alongside a few other similar buildings - an inn and several houses.
Leaning against the stable wall is a middle-aged man, extremely tall, with broad, scarred arms that hint of a violent past. He wears a simple green tunic, which doesn't quite manage to hide his gut. His eyes scan his surroundings, and his face is covered in a thick brown beard. He holds in his hand the reins to a pair of horses.Fantastic avatar by Ceika.

"Or we could not, and avoid getting dieseased ourselves," Aldrin mentions automatically, as he was prepared for either Rennard, Dastan, or Jensi to bring it up the moment they finished. "Then again, he should be moved somewhere where he can't infect anyone else."

Rennard brings his right hand to his chin in a pensive gesture. As he ponders on his companions' words, his left hand comes to a gentle rest on the pommel of his rapier.
After a short silence, the fencer proposes a plan that tries to take into account all the information he has gathered on the party's situation and the individual philosophies
We should split into two groups. Jensi and I will go back to the Academy to inform the Maestro of our success. Jensi might be best suited to see if any useful information can be obtained from the attacker we took prisoner.
In the midtime, Atavian, Dastan and Aldrin can track down the sick man and take him to a local temple to be examined. If Atavian's theory is correct, then we must warn the other religious organizations and inform Kroft of our findings.Avatar by me
