Dastan wastes little time in agreeing. "Whatever they're doing in there, we can't let them finish. Move!" He strides towards the heavy doors, waits a few moments for the others to get into position, then attempts to throw them open and move through with his weapon at the ready.

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
There is little time to waste, and so the party wastes none. With iron-shod doors open noisily into a long, darkened hallway. The entire length is illuminated only by three candles, casting it in heavy shadows. These writhe and contort almost as though they are humans in pain.
It takes a second to realize that this is not a trick of the light, nor an illusion. Behind panes of glass that line the walls of the hallway, skeletons and zombies twitch and spasm, clawing at their confinement.
Jensi, Dastan
SpoilerThis foul display is not, as might be thought, a trap. It is rather a religious icon of Urgathoan cults known as the Bacchanal, reminding her followers that in the end, everything dies, and everything comes to serve the Pallid Princess eventually.
The gruesome hallway continues, opening into a circular chamber with a high, domed ceiling, cold and dark. It is lined with desks and tables, upon which a plethora of alchemical and surgical equipment - bubbling beakers of green fluid, bloodied saws, and so forth - lie in wait. Around the centre, six stone beds have been laid out. Lying in these are six blistered, haggard Varisians, all unconscious with weakness. Judging by their red-stained rags, they have been experimented on for some time.
Two figures hover over the beds, peering down at their "patients." They look up as you enter. Both are female and human, both with black hair, both have pale faces, drained of colour and black around the eyes. They are nearly identical in appearance, and are clad in black robes.
One of them, slightly taller, speaks, her voice sophisticated. "You are here to stop us. But you will not. The blood veil is magnificent in its perfection, and Urgathoa herself has blessed our leader for her work."
Aldrin
SpoilerYou realize that the two women are your sisters. The one who has spoke is Alyssa. The other, slightly shorter and younger, is Evette.Fantastic avatar by Ceika.

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
As he views the confined undead behind panes of glass, Aldin can't help but comment, "This place is vile. Let's hurry..."
When he arrives in the experimentation chamber, the disgust he feels persists, but that is quckly replaced by surprise, and then anger when he sees the two women doing the experimenting. He clenches a fist, and the red in his eyes becomes far more pronounced.
"Alyssa, Evette. At first I was relieved you weren't executed along with mother and father, but it seems my emotions were misplaced; you're absolutely despicable. How did you escape?"

Good... more vile cultists to destroy. Atavian won't complain abut that. The beyonder sprints forward a few steps before Atavian shouts, "Tallox, wait!"

Alyssa Cress smiles slightly. "We were saved from the dungeons and the gallows, dear brother. Our expertise was needed. It was easy to understand, persuasive, we wanted to serve. We wanted to kill, to cause glorious suffering."
The other, Evette, joins in, her voice excited, as if remembering something joyous. "He told us to work, to join with the cult of Urgathoa to deliver perfect pain. But now he grows... bored... of it." She looks distressed, clutching at her head. "He wants new suffering. We wanted to help, we wanted to serve, so we created a cure. Aldrin's mind is racing. They're under something's control, it seems, but whatever it is, the aura is a powerful one. Maybe even to the point of permanency.
He is silent for a few moments, switching his gaze from one sister to the next. Finally, he takes a deep breath, then answers, without taking his eyes off either one. "I said we need to deal with anything we encounter swiftly and without hesitation. That extends to... these two. I'm sorry to see that the family line ends with me."
As soon as he finishes speaking, a layer of frost rises from the ground beneath his siblings, clinging at their legs. "Kill them."

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Aldrin begins the attack, raising up a sheet of ice that clutches coldly at his sisters. Alyssa, the taller and elder one, hisses in pain, but Evette seems to suffer more. She grows sluggish under the effects of the magic.
Dastan exploits her weakness, rushing forwards and delivering a hard blow to her head with the pommel of his longsword. It elicits a grunt, but she's not out of the fight yet. Jensi helps prepare Dastan for his next attack with Shelyn's blessing. Rennard helps with forcing Evette to unconsciousness, delivering an exhausting spell of cold. But she still stands.
Tallox is less merciful than the paladin. His mighty jaws leave Alyssa bloody, her black robes shredded around one arm. Atavian overlaps Aldrin's ice with a sheen of slipperiness, but neither of the maniacal sisters fall.
Dresane's arrows make Evette scream in pain, two of them cutting her as they fly past, scorching her with the inquisitor's hatred.
Alyssa begins to hover, her body lifting off the ground, swirling with magic as she flies backwards and upwards, away from Tallox's aggressive assault and Aldrin's spell. The eidolon jumps at her, attempting to injure her as she gets away. But the attack is mistimed, and catches nothing.
"Choose death, then, brother!" She shoots a stream of black void towards Dastan. It encircles him, tendrils latching and draining away his strength.
Evette retreats from Aldrin's frost, staggering away. She waves a hand, and a thin layer of shining green grease falls under Dastan and Tallox.
SpoilerTallox and Dastan: DC17 reflex save or fall prone.
But the sisters are not yet done. With a crackling noise that by now you recognize as the tell-tale sign of an invisibility spell ending, a strange creature appears. Bipedal, with blackened skin and glowing, poisonous eyes, with a maw bristling with long, razor-like teeth, and even longer claws. It looks very similar to Tallox, in fact!
Tallox
SpoilerThis creature is indeed a beyonder.
And like Tallox, it is vicious. Its jaws nearly bite Dresane's head off, but the Hell Knight is able to avoid the worse of it, instead only suffering a few bloody gashes.
Spoiler20 damage to Dresane.

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Atavian panics as the beyonder flashes into existence before him. His memory flashes back to when he first met Tallox, when the beyonder was cruel and brutal. The halfling jumps back in terror. The same mark. On her too... "She summoned him! Take her down," he shrieks pointing at Evette.
Tallox was angry before, when his allies were shouting conflicting demands. But he has never been so angry as he becomes when the other beyonder appears. Barely keeping his footing, Tallox strides toward him, "YOU STOLE MY IDEA!!! WHAT DID YOU DO... TAKE MY NOTES?!? WHO TOLD YOU?!?" Though his kind does not die and does not feel pain, he decides in that moment to send this one back to their plane in enough pieces that it will take a millennia to mend.
Regaining his sense, Atavian makes Tallox grow in size. Allowing him to reach his brethren with ease. Tallox bites, claws and slashes at the other beyonder.

Dastan starts to follow up his attack on Evette, but slips and falls to his knees on the treacherous, greased ground. Rather than pausing to regain his feet, he simply stumbles and half-crawls the remaining distance to his target and throws a volley of slightly less effective strikes with the pommel and flat of his blade at her midsection, still striking to disable.

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Having seen Tallox in action repeatedly, Rennard does not need any reminders of the destructive power of a beyonder among unarmored targets.
Neutralizing the new foe was paramount to the party's success (and survival), and Atavian had just shared vital information for that task to be accomplished.
Dashing through the battlefield, the magus pours more arcane power into Reve, strengthening the blade and its edge as he channels the same glacial power that was used against Doctor Davaulus through the ebony rapier. The fencer prepares to strike Evette, but at the last second he sees Dastan connecting what could only be described as an improbable hit.
There was no time to plan

Tallox grows large, his already frightening bulk expanding until he dwarfs his fellow beyonder. Using his greater size, Tallox rends and tears at the other, until its black skin is maimed and shredded. In a swirl of purple light, it vanishes back to the void that it calls home.
Dastan crawls to Evette, swinging at her with the flat of his blade. Twice she leaps back, but the third time catches her across the knee, causing her to howl in pain.
SpoilerSince it wasn't clear beforehand, I'll take Dastan's move as face value. But in future, it isn't possible to crawl-five foot step.
Rennard's impressive manoeuvre pays of. The magus launches himself nimbly into the air with the manner of a diver or dancer, extending his sword arm at exactly the right moment to deliver a deep wound to Alyssa.
Dresane finishes off the flying Alyssa with a series of well places shots. The woman's flight spell ends and she comes crashing to the ground, bleeding heavily.
Evette too comes down. Aldrin finishes his sister with his signature mind blast, sending her into a wounded unconsciousness.
Both sisters now lie near death amidst their laboratory. Their battered 'patients' moan pathetically, while their putrid vials bubble and froth.Fantastic avatar by Ceika.

"Tell me when you're done interrogating them," says Aldrin in a hallow tone, looking anywhere except at his two sisters. "I'm not going to have any part in this."
With that, he opens the door in which they enterred and slams it shut.Avatar by A Rainy Knight

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
The 14' tall Tallox grabs Atavian with one hand, lifting him off the ground like a human grabbing a small dog. He shouts angrily, "WHEN WE ARE DONE HERE, SEND ME BACK! I WILL HUNT DOWN AND ATOMIZE THAT THIEF!!! NO ONE STEALS FROM ME!!!" He emits a snarl, then looks like he is about to throw the poor halfling, but instead sets him down gently. The enlarged beyonder sets to pacing his enormous form about the room.
A bit frazzled, Atavian looks around the room for anything of note.

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Before any interrogation gets done, there are matters we need to attend to says Rennard, though he does not stop Aldrin from leaving the room
Dastan, Jensi: You are on healing duty. Try to heal these victims as much as you can so they can be safely moved, though keep a minimum amount of healing in case we are attacked again this is delivered with a cold clinical voice that shows that the magus had opted to let his logic overtake his much underdeveloped empathy
Atavian and Tallox: so far we have not asked about your situation, but right now we need to know if, were we to wake up Evette, will she be able to resummon that beyonder even if she's restrained?
Dresane, you keep an eye on the Cress' sisters. Don't harm them: They said they had a cure. If they do, it might be hidden, so we need them alive. When Aldrin comes back, we need to ask him about the charm detection.
I will look for a cure. I've been reading up on alchemical formulae since this began

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Tallox keeps pacing as Rennard addresses him, huffing and puffing all the while. "No, she can't summon him," Tallox says. While still angry, his voice shifts into an uncharacteristically pedantic tone, "I broke his body too much, the soul link is frayed. She won't be able to summon that bastard again for... at least a day. Even if she could, it takes about a minute long ritual to link into my plane."
Atavian waits until Tallox is done before adding, "however, if she is adept at summons... like I am, then she can conjure all many of beasts with just a thought. Being bound and gagged wouldn't stop me from doing that, and I doubt it would stop her. These other things generally aren't as dangerous as Tallox, but they could hurt us pretty badly. She could probably keep doing it too... I'm not even sure how many times I can do that before I can't form the link any more... it's a lot though."
Tallox adds, "We should just kill her. Get the information from the other one."

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
Dastan looks around the room, taking in the alchemical apparati and infirm Varisians. "I... Might be able to heal these of the illness, perhaps, though I would be stretching my abilities greatly to do so. I fear I'm not really much of a healer." Delaying for a moment, he quickly strides around the room looking for anything that might indicate a more efficient means of treating the sick.
At Tallox and Atavian's comments, he looks up. "There must be some way to contain her safely. Even after her crimes, I cannot condone executing a helpless captive... We should discuss this with Kroft, once we've made sure the area is cleared."

If nobody finds anything better to heal the sick with, Dastan will expend two uses of Lay on Hands to attempt to heal two of the people on the cots. Sadly, Remove Disease is by no means guaranteed to work.

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
We need them both. says the duelist absentmindedly, so engrossed in looking at the chemical display that none of his usual succinctness remains We do not know if they compartmentalized the cure's information, or for that matter if only one of them was able to successfully synthesize the cure. Besides, they might have codified their research notes...
We also need to ascertain if they are being controlled and if so a way to remove the control. We'll need access to some type of antimagic field to avoid further summoning....
Where are those notes?
Feeling Reve's amusement through the telepathic link, the magus realizes he's making a fool of himself
Rennard clears his throat and returns to his usual speech
We need them both. Keep the summoner unconscious. Bind and gag the other so we can wake her and make preliminary inquiriesAvatar by me

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
"I'll heal the sick people," Jensi says, mostly directed at Dastan. "It won't cure them permanently, but if we're lucky these cultists will have one somewhere around here. Either way, I think someone should tie up Aldrin's sisters so we can talk to them. The sooner we do that, the sooner we can stop this whole thing," he concludes with a shiver.
SpoilerChannel Energy, excluding Evette. Assuming someone wants to tie up Alyssa for interrogation, he won't exclude her. (3d6)[4]LGBTitP

Re: (Pathfinder) The Curse of the Crimson Throne IC
With no outlet, Tallox's fury has abated to a slightly less frightening level, he grumbles, "someone give me a rope! I'll tie her up..."
SpoilerTallox is large right now, which means his CMB is +18. The Escape artist check is 38 to escape the bonds he would tie.
