Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
The flame princess has deep seated issues. Maybe if she becomes evil enough she permanently devolves into a fire blob like her father?

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I don't know that her base form needs to change, though maybe she would just stay in powered-up blobby state all of the time if she was on a destruction spree.
I felt like that episode didn't really address her problems, though maybe that was intentional to leave more room for Flame Princess character episodes in the future.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Seemed more like an episode to establish her personality a bit better, not to go towards fixing the whole "Dad says I'm evil" thing.
She's easily bored.
She's not the type to untie a knot when it can becutburned.
She gets a rush from power.
Despite this, she has enough control to go for a less direct approach when she knows that blasting it is a bad idea.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I thought the whole episode was a pretty good satire of introducing a new person to a D&D game.
Flame Princess is the newbie, and Finn is the overbearing DM who keeps telling her how to play her character. "No, you need to do this. No, you need to do it like that." Only when he realizes she isn't having fun that he lets her have her freedom.
Once he does that, he even starts talking like a DM. "Okay, there's a door up ahead. What do you do?"

FP was adorable that whole episode. Even when becoming a destructive force of flame.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
So one thing that has been bothering me about the whole "Finn the human" issue is just how long has humanity been considered extinct? I know Lady's parents wanted to eat him (apparently we are delicious?) and everyone seems to know what a human is, so it seems like there was a population that interacted with the inhabitants of Ooo after the war.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I imagine there are populations of humans living in underground vaults, like the Hyoomans. I mean Finn had to come from somewhere, right? Maybe humans were driven underground by the mushroom wars, then when they tried to reemerge they started getting eaten by rainicorns so they had to retreat back into their vaults. Maybe Finn's parents abandoned him due to some kind of population control in their vault. Then again maybe I play to much Fallout.
Perhaps most of the inhabitants of Ooo just know of humans because of how much human junk is laying around, computers, tapes, books and such. Certainly so inhabitants of Ooo have researched these premushroom war artifacts.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Well, look at how many humanoid creatures are running around. If anything, Bubblegum is partly human in the very least, and it seems that most of the undead things running around in the afterlife and on Ooo itself used to be human. Really, on the matter of there exinction, it would probably depend just how many of Ooos creatures are really mutants and if the Rainicorns were around before the war.
Edit: On the topic of Fallout jokes, I wonder just how many undead-inhabited "dungens" are really just undead-haunted havens for humanity, rotting away as there bodies fell to the necromantic horror?

I can't see if any new episode has been posted online. Was there one this week?

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
Well, Marceline is the vampire queen.
Marshall lee is te vampire king. This is a set of facts from before th episode in question. Further, there would be no gender bending involved, as Marceline, the "real" one, is said to have taken her title by killing the vampire king. There was a quote about it some pages back?
This means Marceline is the vampire queen by usurpation. The vampire king could not have been her mother – or if so I will love this show so very much more – on account of being male, as shown by getting her queen title from the king, and thus honoring the gender divide in titles.
Not related, at least not consciously. I can't really speak for my subconscious, it just does things.
So, wait, what? Did people decide Marshall Lee is now son of a demon who was vampire king? That doesn't make much sense, as alt!Aberdeer would be female and thus not a vampire king, if she was a vampire at all.
It seems like a clear parsing into "I am the son of a demon. I am also the vampire king." based in the entirety of speech being about the speaker in such a fashion as to crow speaker's accomplishments. Bringing in the father's accomplishments any furthe than "this generic stock plus something awesome on top" would actually diminish the impact and purpose of the song.
I can only hope.
Honestly, I can't see dungeoeer Fion in any other way. Plus, come on, experience penalty for acting against alignment? That's gold.
Also, here's this gif.
Spoiler
I just think FP is adorablehere.
Oh yeah.
pity Ponythread didn't go in for my fluffy sugar grimdark stuff.

Which had just finished it's season and who knows when we'll see more. =P

Back on topic though, next episode will be "Simon and Marcy." I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to stock up on tissues. It IS Adventure Time, so they might do something completely different and defy expectations, but from the name, it sounds like it's gonna be a tearjerker.Last edited by LibraryOgre; 2013-03-13 at 10:57 PM.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
I'm just gonna chime in to say those aren't brought up nearly as often. In my experience for whatever reason Pony references tend to be disproportionately common. I have no idea why, but that's often the case. Thereby, a lot of people get annoyed when it shows up in something about another topic, because a lot of people have had to deal with weird pony references way too often.
It's not a hundred percent fair to keep this one topic out especially, but when it gets on people's nerves so consistently it's good manners to do so. Because if we need to keep having this conversation it's going to be spiraling out of control and suddenly we'll have two pages of pony talk in a non pony thread. Then people on this forum I'm friends with are going to complain to me in both directions and suddenly there'll be a bunch of irritated people who won't shut up about it and talk about Adventure Time already.
So please, just drop the issue so we can all talk in peace.

Re: What time is it? (Adventure Time Season 3)
You mean "I Remember You", right?
I dunno... Up until the reveal, Ice King was being his usual goofball self. Marceline was getting fed up with him, but there wasn't anything sad until we found out about their past.

...Okay then.
Pretty much. Especialy in a show that can fit so much in just a few minutes. Heck, it can pull off a good twist in about fifteen seconds before the end of the episode.
