Yah, I'm back.
I guess originally sticking the notice in as a post edit might have been too subtle, but at the time I hadn't thought it double post worthy.

You continue to walk down the path from the mountains, it gets warmer as you walk down. Vegetation crowds the view each passing moment. Until you reach a turn in which you have a wide view of the Úngart valley.

You can see how the path continues down the hill for a few miles and at the far end you can distinguish what appears to be a small village. You continue the path down until the time for resting and eating comes. You notice that your new met ally and his panther vanished somewhere in the trip.

You see around you midtropical vegetation. Seems to be some fruit trees and enough small fauna to eat.

As always state night watch and rolls.

What the hell? Where'd whats-his-name and whats-its-face go? That didn't last long... we could have used someone like who was good with the nature stuff to help leg this trip, but I guess we'll have to go without.

He inspects the fruit tree. This crap is safe to eat, right?

"Perhaps he had second thoughts about returning to civilized lands. He did seem somewhat uncomfortable in our presence."

"<Well, I'm certainly not going to miss him. At least tonight I can keep watch without a cat staring at me.>"

Gazing up at the sky, Kern watches the birds overhead, eventually picking a plump-looking one and bringing it to ground with a quick jolt of electricity. "It's probably safe. On the bright side, we can likely purchase further supplies at that village tomorrow, and more importantly, acquire some slightly more up-to-date information."

Drace walks along, enjoying the change in climate and scenery.

How's everyone holding up? Sicknesses getting any better?

Everything goes smoothly. You manage to eat well for the night and for once in your trip you feel at ease. The King replies to Drace... "Yes, information is of the essence. However we must be cautious. Perhaps a good idea would be to send someone alone into the village instead of risking everyone inside."

You sleep quite well. (1hp per level up) After you get your guards going on, almost at dawn, Bor detects something approaching... He wakes Kern up.

I agree. And I am willing to go in first when the dawn breaks, to see if they will come to our aid.

Roused from sleep by his familiar for the second night in a row, Kern glances around, seeing nothing. "<What's out there?>" he murmurs, rising and moving over to Drace's bedroll.

"<Can't tell what yet, but something's on its way over here. Given our luck, not taking chances.>" The irascible rat climbs up to perch on Kern's shoulder as the gnome nudges Drace awake.

"It seems we have visitors on the way. Care to greet them?"

The grumpy paladin grasps his flail and hoists himself from his makeshift bed.

Might as well. Can't sleep with the snores of the king anyhow.

He will slowly walk around the perimeter of the camp looking for intruders.

Ok, that puts Milo up to 30/41 hp.

Listen - (1d20+8)[25] - sleep penalty if applicable

25 - 10 sleep = 15. Pretty sure Kren accidentally wakes Milo too.

Milo may have fallen asleep early troubled by the vestige of fever the night before, but by Dawn is well rested, only lightly dozing, and awakens along with the grumpy paladin.

"What wrong gone now?" he quietly asks Kren as Drace moves out.

You try to make out the uniform, but it is completly unfamiliar to you, so you are in the blind as before. The guard hasn't spotted you yet.

Waiting on Drace's Actions

Not wanting to attack a potential ally, Drace addresses the interloper loud enough to alert everyone in camp.

Ho there, friend. What brings you to our camp at this late hour? Come sit at our fire and let's talk.

He sheathes his flail, but he prepares himself to attack if an offensive action is direct at him or his comrades.

Luis turns, hearing this, and stands at the ready, though he does not draw his weapons - he is ready to, however, if he must.

With a groan Milo stands up, collecting and sheathing his weapons: checking to ensure that Legs is up too.

The dwarven guard approaches Drace with his axe wielded.

"Who are you? State your business."

We are travelers here to seek the favor of the dwarven leaders. There's no sense hefting that weapon, we mean you no harm.

He lets his readied action from before go, but readies it again

[Sallera]

"A little wariness is understandable," Kern mentions, calmly stepping up next to Drace. "We are, after all, well-armed travelers with a camp within sight of a village. Were our intentions less honourable, the incautious could find a great deal of trouble in that."

"Nonetheless, there is indeed nothing to fear from us," he confirms, nodding to the dwarf. "We have been on the road some time, and hoped to hear some more recent news of the happenings of the world, but we thought it would be rather inconvenient to show up in the middle of the night."

"It is quite suspicious that such an armed group is willing to 'visit' our leaders. I would think you're attempting a coup d'etat. You're coming with me."

He then shows you the way towards the next village, from where he came.

We'll be glad to come with you, but if our goal was a coup, don't you think we'd have brought a larger group? And perhaps be a tad less injured?

He gestures to their now-assembled party, suffering from numerous injuries both major and minor as well as the lingering traces of illness brought on during their mountain excursion.

In our current state I'm not sure we could overthrow an anthill, much less a whole society.

"Oh, come now, I doubt anyone with such dishonourable intentions would have made it through the Wall. And there is not a dwarf among us, so a coup attempt would be ridiculous in any case." Kern falls in step with the guard nonetheless, apparently unfazed by this turn of events; Bor seems to have vanished into the gnome's pack, although the perceptive might notice the glint of his eyes peeking through the flap.

"But enough of that. What's the news from the capital? I hear there is a new King, but I know little more than that; I have not been in Úngart since the Iron Jester was forced into drydock last year."

[Strangie]

"Don't worry about us. You've got good reason to be paranoid, but we're not your enemy, I assure you."

Luis falls in step with the others and follows the dwarf.

"All of your answers will be revealed once we arrive at Mian. Start walking."

says the dwarven guard as he signals the way and expects you to walk ahead.

Everyone except Drace, roll Knowledge local. Kern has +2 circunstance bonus for being living in these lands earlier.
