The the boy stares at the claw hand.
"How the heck do you expect me to believe you aren't with them if you keep pulling crap like that, huh?"

"Tell me, if I were with 'THEM', as you call them, would I constantly suggest for you to read my mind? And I needed to open my root beer and was too lazy to materialize a bottle opener."

Behold, Karaglen gets almost immediately nervous again. Probably in an exceptionally bad way.
She looks down at her knees and fiddles with her dress a little.
"I'm...just looking after it for a friend..."

The boy reaches out to poke John's forehead with his ungloved hand. John should feel extreme discomfort, dizziness, and a feeling of being somewhere else entirely for the few seconds it takes, and the boy cringes and whimpers the entire time.

Behold, Karaglen gets almost immediately nervous again. Probably in an exceptionally bad way.
She looks down at her knees and fiddles with her dress a little.
"I'm...just looking after it for a friend..."

Reinholdt tilts his head a little. Something changed. But what?
"Oh, that's nice of you. Another cleric?" He asks.

The boy reaches out to poke John's forehead with his ungloved hand. John should feel extreme discomfort, dizziness, and a feeling of being somewhere else entirely for the few seconds it takes, and the boy cringes and whimpers the entire time.

The boy will see only the last 8 years of John's life. Past that is a barrier that would lash out at the boy. He would see John waking up in a valley in his old world. Then him discovering the things he could do. See him reading the book that was next to him and learning. There's spot for 7 years where John just meditated in a fertile valley. Then him coming to Nexus. Then there's a blank spot that skips him over the curtains with Molodai and Krys. Then finally John sitting right here. John's not a part of THEM. John's just.....John. John the Immortal. John the Father. John the Lover. John the Slime Trainer. John the God.
He'll also see John's desires. How he wants peace and acceptance. How he wants the best for his five kids. How he wants to Molodai to live forever with him. How he wants the kid viewing his mind right now to be okay.

Yes, who was she looking after it for?
If she's going to lie, she better make sure she doesn't have any more holes in the lie.
"No...a wizard...I'm keeping an eye on it while he's on a research trip..."

The boy wasn't really looking for all that, and the sudden surge of extra information knocks him back onto his bottom.
"Alright...'John'...I have no idea what exactly an immortal is, but as long as you're not trying to bring me back to R'lyeh, you're fine by me."

[Reinholdt]

"A... wizard?"
Reinholdt asks, a bit incredulous. If there's anything in the world that knows how to keep stuff safe while they're away, it's a wizard. And if there's anything in the world that doesn't need a sword that big, it's a wizard.

The boy wasn't really looking for all that, and the sudden surge of extra information knocks him back onto his bottom.
"Alright...'John'...I have no idea what exactly an immortal is, but as long as you're not trying to bring me back to R'lyeh, you're fine by me."

John would help the boy up if allowed.
"Now then, tell me who THEM is."

"He doesn't use it...for fighting. He's enchanting it..."
The magic-savvy could confirm that the sword is, in fact, rather magical.
But in a very vague manner that doesn't seem to have any purpose.

John would help the boy up if allowed.
"Now then, tell me who THEM is."

He's allowed.
"What, have you been living under a rock? The Elders! The Elders of the City of R'lyeh! Who else would be after someone who's been branded?" the boy pulls up his sleeve to reveal an inky black tattoo that looks less like a brand and more like a word in some strange language. The letters twist about so as to make it almost impossible to look straight at the tattoo.

[Reinholdt]

"Ah. So that means the research trip is to...?" Better learn how to enchant it?

[VampireRot]

At this point, the small black cat hops up onto the table John had put the boy on and he had fallen off of. It gives both of them a rather smug look and sits down.

The animal gives the mark on the boy's arm a curious look, but loses interest once it deems the elder sign is not edible. Instead, it looks hopefully at John.

"Mow?"

It's earlier panic is completely forgotten, and now it is rather hungry.

He's allowed.
"What, have you been living under a rock? The Elders! The Elders of the City of R'lyeh! Who else would be after someone who's been branded?" the boy pulls up his sleeve to reveal an inky black tattoo that looks less like a brand and more like a word in some strange language. The letters twist about so as to make it almost impossible to look straight at the tattoo.

"Why do you have a tattoo? And what's being branded?"
John sighed and snapped his fingers. A flurry of golden light will appear before the cat, turning into a plate with a salmon on it.

"I don't know...just asked me to watch the sword while he did that..."
Maybe meeting a rival mage and doesn't want to give away all his secrets!
Or something!

"Why do you have a tattoo? And what's being branded?"

"The elders of R'lyeh will brand humans at birth to mark them as a future sacrifice for their followers. Most sacrifices are raised blissfully unaware of their impending doom, but I'm no fool! I searched, I found, and I ran!" the boy looks around again, certain he's being spied on.

[Reinholdt]

"Sounds like something a wizard would do alright." Reinholdt admits, shaking his head. Those crazy wizards and their secrets.

[Mindfreak]

"The elders of R'lyeh will brand humans at birth to mark them as a future sacrifice for their followers. Most sacrifices are raised blissfully unaware of their impending doom, but I'm no fool! I searched, I found, and I ran!" the boy looks around again, certain he's being spied on.

John sighed and he snapped his fingers. A flurry of golden light later and a plate with a salmon on it appears before the hungry cat.
"Son, do you need a place to stay?"

"Mrrr..."

The cat purrs its "thanks" and bends down to quickly eat up the salmon. It eats quite voraciously and quickly cleans the plate off. It watches the boy out of the corner of its eye while doing so, though this is impossible to notice due to the lack of pupils or whites in its eyes.

Kara picks at part of her dress, continuing to be slightly nervous about this line of conversation.
"So...what do you do?"
So she bounces back to another line of conversation. She dodges back to his dodge!

John sighed and he snapped his fingers. A flurry of golden light later and a plate with a salmon on it appears before the hungry cat.
"Son, do you need a place to stay?"

"No offence, but I still don't exactly trust you, and staying in one place makes it easier for them to find me," the boy puts his gloves back on and starts cleaning up the mess he made.

Fade is just sitting around in the bar again. His shadow in this time is sliding on the walls.

"I wonder where this girl went I met here."

[Reinholdt]

"Me? Oh, I hunt for treasures mostly, like that sword. At least, sometimes. Mostly I stay at GLoG and do... stuff." Reinholdt says with a slight frown.
He resolves to deal with it by drinking some of his rum.

[Mindfreak]

"Mrrr..."

John pet the cat. The cat might feel a strange warmth coming from John's hands that made it comfortable and it would feel like pure energy was flowing into the cat.
Straaaaaange.

"You just saw my entire life, how couldn't you trust me? But, alright, here's a brush and dustpan, it will help you clean up the glass."
Golden light and brush and dustpan was in John's hands.

A daemon walks in with a robed (I think?) sorcerer.

Oh no, they're escaping! It's not like Despair's one notable magical power can help. Oh wait, it can!

Four claws of magical energy lash out, two for each of them. The claws aim for the legs, and attempt to grab them and drag them right back to Despair.

Of course, since it's a bit unfair for characters who were literally just introduced to die horribly at the hands of a large number of enraged characters, Despair's player would be quite happy to just make them drop some of their stolen valuables instead and still make their escape.

The Star does a stylish leap right over the first energy claw, but the second get's his right leg. Now, if this works anything like Dragon Age the Star will probably be dragged towards Despair. As he's pulled across the ground, the musical mastermind quickly plays a rock remix of a hymn to protect from the undying, infusing the song with magic to send a blast of holy energy at the revenant. With any luck, that should disrupt Despair's hold on him.

The cat seems quite content with John's magic. In fact, a force inside it sucks greedily at the pure energy, trying to get even more from the Immortal. The cat gives no physical indication of this besides the content purring.

John pet the cat. The cat might feel a strange warmth coming from John's hands that made it comfortable and it would feel like pure energy was flowing into the cat.

"You just saw my entire life, how couldn't you trust me? But, alright, here's a brush and dustpan, it will help you clean up the glass."
Golden light and brush and dustpan was in John's hands.

The boy starts cleaning up, but when the fight undeadtimes and the daemon walks in, he yelps and hops the bar, running to the kitchen in search of a back door to escape through.

"Hey! You can't go ba-URK!" Cosmo shouts at the boy, but is silenced by a severe case of mind theft.

Yes, Solomon the black curly haired, purple robed sorceror follows her.

Liache sighs as the kid freaks out; she goes to arrange for getting a room.
