[Nexus] Trog's Tavern CCXXXVI

Suddenly, there's a hole in the roof where there wasn't one before. Mainly because something just fell through the roof. Said something is a young man with literally copper skin, red hair and very little clothing. With a crash, he lands on one of the many tables, breaking it.

Considering Reinholdt's luck of late, the ifrit will probably land on the sniper kitty's table. Which might actually be a good thing. Or a terrible thing. Or both!

[Halae]

The Cherub in the rafters looks down at the group below, and begins drawing a pair of arrows. These ones are love arrows rather than lust, so someone struck by it will instantly find themselves in love with someone else. Where Thaunta and Kohan were struck by Lust arrows, which wear off after a good curtaining, love arrows are semi-permanent, and the only way to deal with them is to break the enchantment or deny love long enough for the spell to wear off.

The arrows should be invisible to those who can't sense magic, but i'm going to guess Zee can see them. 'll give everybody a chance to respondefore he fires at his respective targets, who have yet to be named

"Mrow!"

The kitten meows insolently at Zee. Or, rather, it sounds insolent. What the cat actually says, in the language of felines which Reinholdt can probably understand, is complete and utter gibberish. It then turns its back dramatically on the barmaid and returns Reinholdt's stare. Stare...

It's eyes are pitch-black and pupil-less.

Though it is, if Reinholdt can tell things like that, a female cat. Not that gender really matters to the eldritch abomination.

[Reinholdt]

Reinholdt probably can tell things like that, being from a world of cats. It's kind of important to be able to tell. Not that it particular matters to him.
He shudders at the pupilless thing though.

And then... Ifrit landing!

"GAAAAH!"
Reinholdt jumps back a bit, loses his balance and finally falls off his chair and hits the floor with a thump.

He groans.
"It's going to be one of THOSE days..."

Picking himself up, he goes to peer at the crashed creature.
"Hey. You ok?"

He does not notice the cherub in the rafters. Almost getting landed on will do that to you.

Zee points at her eyes with two fingers.

Then points at THAT CAT.

She's serious about this!

Aaaaand behind the counter she goes, tra la la~!

...she doesn't actually notice the cupid.

Not a cherub.

A cherub is something very different.

Why doesn't she notice it?

Because there are weird angel people hanging around in Trog's all the time. And she actually isn't at all familiar with the idea of chubby babies with love arrows.

Karaglen is back already!
That deadtime blob didn't decide to stay very long, and is busily adhering to the leg of some other unfortunate fellow.

She blinks and looks around, frowning slightly.
Stupid time lapses.

Reinholdt is still there, hasn't gotten into any trouble. Well, other than this thing right here.
Fellow there fell through the ceiling? Seems a fair guess, what with the hole in the ceiling and broken table.
And Zee is here!

First thing's first.
Make sure ceiling-guy is alive and not bleeding to death.

When the Dorf fort dorfs cheer, Darst will raise his mug in salute. He's a dwarf too, you know. Albeit one that has been underground for generations uncountable.

"That sounds like my kind of place. I don't suppose you would be kind enough to point me in the right direction? Also, I would like to purchase some dwarf bread."

Remeber that stuff I made up?

Dwarf bread...
1. is the shape and size of a brick
2. is surprisingly close to the density of a brick
3. has the expiration date beyond the lifespan of most elven elders
4. tastes rather nice, due to the dwarven syrup involved
5. is very filling
6. is a preferred choice for trail rations for adventurers
7. can be hard to bite into
8. is, when properly used, a lethal throwing weapon

The ifrit floats upward, off the wrecked remains of the table, before dropping back to the floor, managing to land on it's feet this time. It dusts itself off and pulls a few shards of broken glass out of it's back, before turning to Reinholdt.
"Greetings, I am your humble servant, Des. Well, that's what people call me. We'd be around all day if I used the formal introduction."

Des bows dramatically. Reinholdt will probably notice that Des isn't really wearing much but a embroidered loincloth, a leather belt, and a golden bracelet around each wrist. Also of note is that a small golden ring is falling out of thin air straight towards Reinholdt's head, with enough force to leave a bruise if it hits.

Clearly, the cupid's player was confused as to what a cherub is *facepalm*

In any case, he takes aim and fires the two love arrows.

The first he fires at Karaglen.

the second fires at Reinholdt.

despite them not being able to see these arrows (well, Karaglen might, seeing as she might be capable of sensing magic), sheer luck may let them avoid the arrows. If even one of them misses, they will have no effect, and regardless of if they hit, they will vanish upon hitting something, such as the floor. if both hit, however, the two effected will fall in love with each other

Zee frowns rather apologetically.

"I'm sorry sir. Regulations don't allow us to sell dwarf bread here. It's considered a lethal weapon."

Aaww...

That's too bad.

"...come to think of it that's the same reason we aren't allowed to sell Trog's infernal phantom peppers anymore either..."

Things could kill a horse.

"But you might be able to get some out on Market Street! They sell all sorts of neat stuff there!" sometimes for a reasonable price, too! Though... sometimes not.

[Reinholdt]

"Servant? I think you're con-OW! What the?"
Reinholdt rubs the top of his head and goes to pick up the ring.

"Curiouser and curio-OW!"
Reinholdt rubs his rear and glares around. Glancing back, he sees nothing there. Strange... it sure felt like he got shot or something.

He glances back at Des. "Reinholdt." He says, no longer in the mood for his flourishing introduction.

Wolfy sees the arrows flying through the air and after a moment, smirks before tripping a nearby MagBot. The MagBot should stumble and bump into Karaglen just enough to nudge her out of the way and take the shot himself.

Genevieve makes her way into the tavern. Walking rather than crashing through the door on broomstick this time. She walks over to the bar and takes a seet. "Um, I'll have a Black Shadow please."

Meanwhile, a small bat flies through the door after another person enters/leaves. He squeaks a couple times and flies up into the rafters.

[Chaotic Bob]

Karaglen blinks and stumbles forward, falling on her arms at the floor and giving the Magbot a somewhat ugly look.
Red clouds, anger.

Calm...calm.
The girl sighs and picks herself back up, brushing off her dress.

On the bright side, the ceiling-guy looks fine, Reinholdt has him covered.
Off to go talk to Zee!

Trudging off she goes.

The witch is provided with a black shadow!

Zee wrinkles her nose a bit at the drink. "I never really could figure out why people like these things so much. They're nearly as popular as A Drink and they taste even worse."

Some people just have different taste, Zee. Something to accept.

The Kara approaches!

Yay!

Zee waves at her exuberantly!

"Hiya Karaglen! Why are you looking so glum today?" she inquires. "Have you been having trouble with the hooligans stealing the food you hand out again?"

"Nope. See that ring? As long as you have that, I must obey your every whim."

Des' smile is pretty blatantly fake as he says this last bit, fire literally flashing in his eyes for an instant. He doesn't mind helping people, well, not much, nor traveling the globe or not being able to use his magic to help himself, or any of the other nuisances that come with being an ifrit. But some of the things he's been ordered to do still make him mad.

"I am an ifrit, the more powerful cousin of the creatures you call genies, or djinn. I grant wishes, with only one small catch. Every two wishes you make, I get to make a request. It's entirely your decision whether you grant that request, but if you decline I do not have to grant any more wishes."

[Chaotic Bob]

Karaglen tries to give Zee a smile.
But seeing her reminded her about what she needed help with.

Which makes smiling hard.
So instead the girl proceeds to just look nervous again. Twitchy.
Guilty.
"Um, hello Zee...no...no problems with them. Slightly...worse..."

[Reinholdt]

I'm ok with the other arrow missing and all, but if you're going to throw someone in the way, shouldn't the other person actually have been in the tavern and given their permission? This seems a bit excessive in its ludicrousness.

Reinholdt glances at the ring.
"Oh. Umm... huh." He looks back at the Ifrit.
"Is this the part where you tell me you'd like to be free and hate this life and that one of my wishes should be to let you go?"
Cause Reinholdt would probably be ok with that.

Sakura claps a couple times when he finishes, a grin lighting up her face. "That was really good. Kinda makes me wish I could do that." She has no experience with instruments what so ever. "How long have you been playing?"

Reis bows in reply, smiling slightly more broadly. "Around Fifteen years now. It's a good gig, my father taught me how."

well, this raises a certain predicament. Will the arrow affect the magbot?

If it has human level emotions? then yes. anything less and the arrow will consider it simply an animated object, unworthy of love. Tuun has no control of this.

[Rebonack]

"Oh no!" Zee replies to the little girl that's actually a silver lizard with wings. "Even worse?"

Her mind races as she tries to figure out what could possibly be worse than thugs stealing food.

"Are the hungry people starting to devour living flesh! Have they become ghouls? That's terrible!"

She jumps up on the counter, one foot dramatically placed atop the head of a nearby patron.

The half-orc doesn't say anything. Being a long-time Trog's customer one eventually learns to ignore Zee's shenanigans as much as possible.

"Then we must set out at once! For the good of the Nexus as a whole we must put an end to this unholy hunger!"

"I'm afraid not. My power is hardly limitless, and this curse would require magic equal to that of an entire pantheon to break. Don't worry, it's not entirely terrible."

Des recites from memory. Nearly everyone who's ever watched Aladin asks him that one.

Genevieve might see Ashley also sitting at the bar. She's drinking a root beer.

Kara would normally giggle at Zee's silliness.
Instead she gravitates towards a stool, fidgeting her fingers.
Somehow, this is making her feel worse already.

But she has to get this out. To someone she trusts.
Otherwise it'll just eat at her, won't it? Eat and eat until it drives her completely mad?

The girl fidgets a little more, before taking a deepish breath.
Then more fidgeting. This was hard...

Okay. Maybe this time.
She lets her hair fall over her face, a little bit of a shield maybe, possibly to hide her panicked look.
"Zee...I hurt people..."

You should invite Reis into the band Ghar.
We could use an actual lyricist.

Wolfy sees the arrows flying through the air and after a moment, smirks before tripping a nearby MagBot. The MagBot should stumble and bump into Karaglen just enough to nudge her out of the way and take the shot himself.

A Magbot peers down at its chest, wondering how on earth this strange arrow got here and why it's lodged right in the automaton's chest. Thankfully, Magbots can't feel pain, because if this guy could, this might be-

"Oww! Pain! It hurts!"

Oh, nevermind.

"With the power and might of a righteous cause on our side we're sure to-wait, what?" Zee stops in the middle of her motivational speech and hops off the counter.

The half-orc seems to be glad that Zee doesn't have a foot on his head anymore. Though the view at the time wasn't disagreeable in the least.

"Did..."

She bites her lip.

"Did you say you hurt someone?"

Zee asks the question as though she can't believe what she heard. Which isn't too surprising since Kara hasn't ever hurt someone before. At least not seriously. That... That just isn't her thing! Kara couldn't possibly do such a thing!

Reis winks in a slightly conspirital manner, "Mostly, some I just took from my father." He replies, gesturing languidly in a slightly joking fashion. "But if no-one really knows that, my father won't get annoyed."

also, they aren't supposed to hurt, and they disappear almost immediately.

does the magbot have human level emotions? if so, it should now love Reinholdt, with Reinholdt loving it back. If it dorsn't, then it just got hit by an invisible, disappearing, non-wounding (to fleshies) arrow, without falling in love or anything
