[Chaotic Bob]

Zee's incredulousness doesn't seem to be helping Kara either.
She seems to retreat further back into herself, hunching over slightly and fidgeting with her fingers.

This would appear to be confirmation.
Guilty, nervous, fearing-yet-looking-for-judgement confirmation.

She doesn't give a response though...perhaps too ashamed.
Just waiting to see what Zee has to say, while she hides behind her hair.

[Rebonack]

Zee just...

Well.

She just stands there for a few moments. Shocked. Not appalled. Just... shocked. This seems very much unlike Kara.

"When? To who? ...why?" she asks in short order.

And then...

Then she points at the sword.

"With that?"

Eyes narrow slightly.

"Where did you get that."

[Gullara]

Genevieve might see Ashley also sitting at the bar. She's drinking a root beer.

Totally missed this.

Genevieve sips at her Black Shadow, shivering at the uncomfortable chill going down her spine. She is a witch, she must tolerate these creepy, spooky drinks.

"Hey." She waves at Ashley and scoots toward her. "I'm Genevieve." She's doesn't ease into talking to people, does she?

I'd be interested, certainly.

Reis winks in a slightly conspirital manner, "Mostly, some I just took from my father." He replies, gesturing languidly in a slightly joking fashion. "But if no-one really knows that, my father won't get annoyed."

((Cool, I'll set something up then. When I'm less swamped than tonight that is.))

"Heh, okay. Still pretty cool though." Sakura most definitely finds it very cool. "Oh, so I guess you're pretty new to the Nexus right? Adjusting alright? It's kind of a crazy place sometimes."

[Chaotic Bob]

"The...first...one was a mugger..."
She can't really bring herself to mention the other three people, instead just implying strongly that they were there.

But then Zee asks about the sword, which causes Kara to turn a little.
Very faintly. Slightly more subtly than earlier, with Rein, making sure the sword was more completely behind her and away from Zee.
"A wizard...friend...holding it for him..."

Oh gods. Lying to Zee too. She can't even believe herself.
Why was she doing that?

Ashley waves back, and suddenly looks a little nervous when Genevieve scoots closer to her. This quickly disappears when the witch introduces herself. "I'm Ashley." She points at the Black Shadow. "How does that taste?"

[Rebonack]

Zee has had some degree of contact with... unpleasant things.

From unpleasant places.

And while she hasn't ever encountered Corn and his flunkies before... There's still that same general stink of that kind of magic around the weapon. The weapon Kara seems rather protective of.

"Mhmm," she replies simply.

Doesn't sound convinced.

"A friend wouldn't have given you something like that, Kara. It's dangerous," she states rather emphatically, pointing an accusing finger at the weapon. "I don't know what it does exactly. But I recognize the general feel of it. And it's bad. Really really bad."

Really really really.

Evidently, the magbot can see magic then, since the arrow was invisible

also, they aren't supposed to hurt, and they disappear almost immediately.

does the magbot have human level emotions? if so, it should now love Reinholdt, with Reinholdt loving it back. If it dorsn't, then it just got hit by an invisible, disappearing, non-wounding (to fleshies) arrow, without falling in love or anything

Thanks to the best efforts of Devi and Ilpholin, who ensure that this particular Magbot would have free will not too long ago, it's totally capable of love and human level emotions!

Whether that bodes well or not for the two, of course, remains to be seen.

"Oh. Alright then. Sounds good. So... what are the restrictions slash rules slash guidelines slash etc.?"

Reinholdt's attention is somewhat distracted by the wounded Magbot though.
He steps over.
"Are you... are you alright?" He asks.

[Gullara]

"It's alright." The witch shrugs. "It's a bit weird though, and cold." She takes another sip, shivering visibly.

"I've been to some pretty crazy places. This one hasn't really done anything I'm surprised at yet." He replies. "What kind of sights does it have?"

"Well, um... Pretty much everything I guess. Stuff gets sucked here from other worlds, right? So you can almost find anything sometime." Sakura explains. She never thought she'd have to have this talk with someone. She still feels like she doesn't know very much abut the Nexus, and she's been here for months.

[Quinsar]

Liache and Solomon come down the stairs.

Solomon follows Liache.

Ashley looks surprised. "Wow, alcohol's even stranger here than back home." She decides to stay sober as long as she was here.

Kara proceeds to peek out through her hair a little.
The sword was bad?

No...it can't be.
She did a check for evil and the like...it came up clean.
Zee is clearly mistaken.

The girl shakes her head.
"I checked the sword...it's okay..."

[Rebonack]

"Then you're wrong," Zee replies matter-of-factly. "And I'll bet if you hang onto that sword you'll keep hurting people. Maybe even people who aren't muggers."

Wait...

Did she really just say that?

Imply that Kara might harm an innocent?

"I'm not going to take the sword away from you. I could. But I won't. I'm going to leave that up to you."

She then takes a brownie out from under the brownie dish and slides it toward Kara on top of a napkin.

"Have you told Mychasi about this yet?"

"Well, um... Pretty much everything I guess. Stuff gets sucked here from other worlds, right? So you can almost find anything sometime." Sakura explains. Kara is concerned about hurting more people.
It's true.
But...Sam said she could channel to only hurt bad people! The anger...
Or at least, (s)he seemed to imply something along those lines...

Instead, the part here she latches onto is that Zee says she isn't going to take the sword.
Which is good!
Because...um...that friend would be upset!

She may or may not be lying to herself, too.

And the fact that she won't hurt an innocent.
Nevermind the fact that awhile ago, she never would have even hurt a criminal.
But that doesn't matter. They're evil. Sowing chaos and death through the city.
They deserve to be removed!
...right?


The girl pokes at the brownie, acknowledging its existence, and picking off a little corner to nibble on.
Maybe not very hungry.
"...no..."
Mychasi is most of the reason she is here instead of at Inari's.

Shame. So much shame.

[Gullara]

"Interesting. What's your favourite place here?" Reis asks, since the locality were supposed to be what knew the area, right?

"Well I live at a place called Watchtower. I guess it's only really my favorite because all my friends are there too. The forest around it is really nice though." Sakura should know, but she's lees familiar than most. Comes with being mostly stationary.

Ashley looks surprised. "Wow, alcohol's even stranger here than back home." She decides to stay sober as long as she was here.

"It's isn't really that. There's something special about this drink I guess. I just drink it to keep up my reputation. I'm a witch in training." Genevieve is very proud of this fact.

[Devixer]

Ashley looks suddenly looks somewhat happy. "You use magic? People are allowed to use it here?" Then she looks curious. "But why would you need to keep a reputation?"

[Gullara]

The witch nods. "That's right. And because I'm a witch." She says it like it's the most obvious thing in the world. "I have to be witchy, and do witchy things. Like... flying on my broomstick, and making potions in the moonlight, and, and... other stuff." Genevieve is very insistent on this. "It's tradition."

[Devixer]

Ashley tilts her head. "But why would you need a broomstick to fly? I just cast a flying spell and I'm done with it." She sips the root beer. "But I won't fight tradition, I guess."

[Gullara]

Genevieve shakes her head. "No no no, that wouldn't do at all. Tradition is very important. It's what makes us witches different from wizards or sorcerers."

[Devixer]

Ashley shrugs. "Well, okay. I wasn't ever really taught anything about magic, so I guess I wouldn't know much about tradition."

[Rebonack]

Zee reaches out to frazzle Kara's hair.

"And I won't tell him either. Unless you procrastinate too long!"

Finger waggle admonishing!

"If you procrastinate too long then I'm totally telling him. So don't dilly dally too much about it. He deserves to know. And he'll probably be concerned too."

Though maybe not for the same reason.

"There aren't many people who go out of their way to make this city a better place to live in. I can't do it all alone."

Oh.

And the brownie is delicious as usual.

Tasty brownie, even if she's not hungry, may be doing something to help Kara's spirit.
That and Zee seems to have resumed being not-incredulous.
Back to a more supportive Zee.

Which is what she had dared to hope for and had been worried wouldn't be there.

She peers out from her hair a little more, at the hair-frazzling, but still doesn't have a smile again.
"Okay...I think I can do that....just worried that I'll disappoint him..."
Which truly is the crux of her issue here.
Disappointing everyone.

She can entirely justify her removal of the criminals on "purge the city to make it pure" level. But she's having a harder time justifying it against her perceived opinions of her peers.
And Mychasi.

The girl gives a little nod at Zee's last statement, acknowledging the point.
Karaglen can't forget her overall purpose...even if these killings have taken a chip off of her self-morality.

[Gullara]

Ashley shrugs. "Well, okay. I wasn't ever really taught anything about magic, so I guess I wouldn't know much about tradition."

"Okay, so you're kind of like a sorceress?" Genevieve quickly looks Ashley over. She certainly doesn't dress like a sorceress. "So what kind of magic can you do?"

[Devixer]

Ashley dresses more like a frequent traveler than anything, mostly because that's also what she is. "Yeah, kind of. I specialize in illusions, but I can perform most of the other kinds of magic, too."

[ThirdEmperor]

Into the tavern stomps a creature in an iron diving suit, carrying a harpoon in one hand, a large keyring in the other. It turns to look around the bar, although how it sees through it's clouded, cracked visor is a very good question. "I seek heroes slash adventurers slash mercenaries for a quest. Are there any here?"

[Gullara]

"Ooh, cool. I don't really know illusions. They're really tough." Of course, with Ashley's natural talent they wouldn't be for her in all likelihood.

[Devixer]

"You don't?" Ashley looks surprised, considering how natural illusions were to her. "I guess they could be difficult, there are a lot of variables to consider."

[Rebonack]

Zee smiles and frazzles Kara's hair further!

Frazzle that hair good, Zee.

"He might be surprised, but I don't think he'll be disappointed in you," she replies quite matter of factly. "He might be worried, too. This is a real sudden change of behavior for you."

No kidding.

"And I think you should see about returning that sword to your friend as soon as possible," Zee adds. "Because it's bad news. I mean... look at it."

She gestures at the weapon in question.

"It still has blood clinging to it. It smells like the Warp. And it's ugly and brutal."

So bleh!

"And... I'm worried that it'll make you ugly and brutal too, Kara."
