I've had awful luck with shinies. I had played through all of Gold, Silver, Crystal, Fire Red, Sapphire, Emerald, Platinum, and Heart Gold before I found even one shiny (Lake of Rage Gyarados doesn't count). Sure, it was a Charmander, but I had to use RNG abuse just to get it. (After about 400 Masuda Method eggs, I was tired of waiting. Also, never try to RNG for a shiny on Heart Gold/Soul Silver; you can't advance the RNG like you can in Platinum.)

I have only recently encountered my first, completely legitimate shiny in White version. It is a Bastiodon (I LOVE BASTIODON!) that I got from a fossil.

I suppose I shouldn't complain about my luck with shinies, since I have encountered Pokerus twice now. Once in Crystal, and once in Emerald, which I have transferred all the way to White version.

Reminds me of that friend who caught the shiny Ho-ho. When he got Black, within about two hours of playing he caught Pokerus. Best. Luck. Ever.

Also another friend, who encountered only one shiny besides the red Gyrados: a graveller, that immediately used Self-Destruct.

I have to agree with Kurgan on the Smeargle, and disagree on the drearily normal. After all, you started the Djinni craze, didn't you?

I actually never mentioned that, but just looking at the thing, I agree.

Decent attack? Hm. Mine must have been sub-par then. He was mostly a waste of time for me, given my play style.

Steelix's base stats: HP: 75, Atk: 85, Def: 200, SpAtk: 55, SpDef: 65, Spd: 30

The attack isn't that great, but not terrible either. Especially with that high defense and stab for Earthquake. Then there is Gyroball, a steel move wherein the slower you are compared to your opponent, the more damage you do.

1: I lost so much, from that. My Charizard who left the viridian forest at level 100, and stomped Brock into a paste. Black Fog, my Haunter with mazes starting stat values. A legit mew, eight copies of said mew, and three illegitimate mews. Love Machine, the ditto I caught who had full health while I was booking it back to a PKMN center with 1 critter at 1 HP, and I used a pokeball to boot.
On the upside, finally got rid of that blasted togepi.

Doubles, but remember that Horsea/Seadra was already quite speedy to begin with. Double speed Kingdra just runs circles around nearly anything.

Yeah, Steelix is slow. I was actually rather impressed with Onix's speed, but that goes away with the metal makeover.

I've considered handing him an Iron Ball, both for improving Gyroball as much as possible, and as something to Fling to get rid of those annoying levitating ghosts. Also, it provides amusement if someone tries to Trick something onto Steelix.

Body: I'm for some reason picturing an old school reporter decked out in a trenchcoat, which are classically a light brown/beige color. Of course, she would need a hat with slip saying "PRESS" in it.

Mane: Brown just seems like a good fit to me, ignore it if you want.

Gender: Whadda sounds feminine to me, and it sounds close to "Wanda", which I also picture as feminine.

Mark: She is a reporter! She has to write up her articles somehow, and since I don't really see computers in Equestria, it has to be a typewriter. Her special talent is writing, she always assumed it was to spread the news, but it is in reality making sappy romance novels. This sometimes slips through into her articles.

It means there's a bunch of tactical operations (which in itself sounds strange) that somehow form a coherent system, which "has" and adjutant(ess). When I hear that, I imagine a bunch of abstract entities (tactical operations) connected in a grid (system), suspended mid-air and giving orders to a young (real and alive) woman in uniform (the adjutant).

Tactical operations (or TacOps) is not an uncommon phrase in military parlance. For example, NORAD (the North American Aerospace Defense Command) is a tactical operations centre. In this case, a lot of the work done by that centre is automated by a computer; the TacOps system, is therefore is the computer system that performs the functions of a tactical operations centre. The adjutant is an artifical intelligence user-interface for this system to the general.

In-universe, in both C&C and in this case the wargames, it allows the faceless general (the player) to command and control his army through the interface AI without having to have a massive command staff.

Are you kidding? Half the 40k universe revolves around giving things unnecessarily long and bombastic names!

Which appears to be a unique legendary weapon. I still hold that Space Marines, to my knowledge, do not name their standard-issue bolters. (Though it is entirely possibly they venerate them. Space Marines are kind of weird at the best of times.)

And while I could list chapter and verse about how military organisations and the personnel therein do not name their issued weapons I am at this point flogging a dead...okay, bad phrase to use in ponythread...um I have already made my point. Non-unique weapon do not, nor should not need names, because at the end of the day, a weapon is a tool, just like any other. It has no spiritual significance in it's function, unless given one by the creator or wielder (and this is then merely an embellishment). I say again, how many of you would seriously consider naming all of your cups, forks, spoons, plates, hacksaws, screwdrivers (sonic or otherwise), spades, pliers, sheers... It's the same thing.



So, my opponent today had the most interesing luck. In Manouvre Group, if you roll a multiple of 3 on your D20, you hit the tank's hull instead of the turret. If the tank is in a hull-down position, it therefore misses.

I have never seen anyone roll so many 3s, 6s, 9s, 15s and 18 in my unlife.

Seriously, he must have rolled like ten out of twelve rolls on the trot (even when making morale checks and such). It was astonishing. (Astonishly bad, since the Cybertanks were mostly in hull-down positions.)
