Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
Rubido tries to find a gap in the ogre's defence, but fails. He slashes as hard as he can anyway, which works perfectly: his blade penetrates the enemy's flesh, opening a gash in his heart. The ogre falls to the ground.
SpoilerMap
The caster has soft cover, thanks to the ogre. He benefits of a +4 AC bonus against ranged attacks. He is casting Summon Undead I.

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
The threat of the ogre gone, Melchia makes his way towards the edge of the marsh, avoiding the summoned skeleton.
Spoiler
Full round action: withdraw to K-3, allowing me to double move and avoid the AoO for leaving the skeleton's threatened area.
Will you take the rocket launcher?

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
"Good work, Rubido," says Otrino, eyeing the advancing skeleton. He does not think it will be a problem. It is still fairly far away, and the tall grass and reeds seem to encumber its movement just as much as theirs. Otrino thinks he can see one reed weaving in and out of its ribcage. But unlike the skeleton, he has ways around them.
"Now have at the necromancer." Otrino snaps his fingers, and white lights flash where Rubido and the archer stand.
Actions:
SpoilerMove to D12. Standard to cast Baleful Transposition on Rubido and the archer. The archer is entitled to a DC 17 Will save to resist.

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
The archer, surprised, fires twice at Melchia but can't even hit him once. The spellcaster aims a ray at Rubido but the elf is able to dodge it. The skeleton disappears, as another one appears in its place and runs up to Otrino.

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
Melchia is somewhat alarmed to see Rubido whisked away across the battlefield, but the archer was now conveniently in range of his powers. The psion takes the time to overwhelm the archer's nerve endings with pure pain, the better to hamper his accuracy.
Spoiler
Melchia will manifest Inflict Pain on the archer.
He is entitled to a DC 16 Will save or take a -4 penalty to attack rolls, skill checks, and ability checks for the next 4 rounds. If he makes his save, he still takes a -2 penalty on the above checks for 4 rounds. Will you take the rocket launcher?

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
Otrino gives the skeleton in front of him a contemptuous glance. The necromancer had given its predecessor so little negative energy that it could barely stay together long enough to make it to him. Assuming the other mage's summons worked like his own, this one would last about as long, and be about as ineffectual.
He backs away from the undead thing, wincing as its claws rake up his side, but calling out to the necromancer. "You're surrounded, your allies are blind or at our mercy, and you are outmatched." To emphasize that last point, Otrino barks a word of command and a familiar-looking spider appears between him and the skeleton. It shoots a strand of purple and black webbing at the rival summon.
"Give up now."
Actions:
SpoilerMove to E15. I'll take the AOO. Standard to cast Rapid Summon Monster I to summon a fiendish monstrous spider in E13. Spider tries to entangle the skeleton.

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
The skeleton lashes at the mage, opening a wound in his arm. Thereafter, it is entangled in the web and cannot move. The ogre charges Rubido and hits him with its club. Meanwhile, the archer cries in pain at Melchia's spell. He tries to shoot two arrows at the Psion, one of them hitting Melchia straight in a lung.
The spellcaster runs away.

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
With the last of the residual power from his previous psychometabolic alterations, Melchia's flesh actually pushes the shaft of the arrow out, knitting the flesh and reducing the severity of the wound significantly. Even wracked with pain, the archer was still clearly a threat. Melchia tries to kill him with a mental assault.
Spoiler
Wasn't the other ogre blind? At least for a few more rounds?
Also, mucco, can you just take control of Selia and haver her do something? There's no IC reason for her to just stand there slack-jawed.
Anyway, the archer is still suffering a -4 penalty (-2 if he made his save) for 3 more rounds.
Melchia will manifest an augmented Mind Thrust at him. He needs to make a DC 16 Will save or take (4d10)[26] damage.

Re: Shadows of Anmer IC
"Leave the ogre," shouts Otrino through gritted teeth at Rubido. "Do not let the necromancer escape!" Secure behind his summon, and in the knowledge that the enemy's summon will not last and will not be reinforced, Otrino draws his crossbow and takes aim at the ogre.
Actions:
SpoilerMove to draw crossbow, and another move to load it. The spider will pile another layer of webbing on the skeleton.
