Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
"Dale" would fit the "as close as possible to the original kid" scheme, so it'll probably be that. And I had just thought of Dirk...
Now for Lalonde... I hope it won't be Rosa. Too easy.Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
So going by this pattern D??? Strider is going to have something closely related to Dave's record shirt. Possibly The Midnight Crew, or maybe The Felt (Doc Scratch)? The thing that worries me about Jane is that she is most likely going to alchemize those products with everything carrying the subliminals with her through the entire session.
How would you guys feel about emoticons for this thread?
Also, I was thinking of making a list of constants between sessions but I don't know where to start outside the obvious.

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
Eh, the Trolls seemed to be able to keep their hormones in check during the session itself. It wasn't until everybody was sitting on the meteor waiting to die that problems started (with the exception of Eridan and Sollux's Duel, which ended without either party being seriously hurt, and they worked together against the King). With the exception of a couple embarrassing moments, it didn't seem like they had much in the way of serious problems.
Mind you that was probably Karkat's influence. His study of troll romance BS probably made him very good at spotting the warning signs and preemptively chewing people out before things got to far. Despite the fact that none of them really seemed to take him seriously, he did seem to be an effective leader.
Which isn't to say this one is not going to be a hormonal disaster (Unless Lalonde is just trying to get Jane's Betty-Crocker brand Goat here/Sobers up for the actual game).
Which of course assumes their session is actually going to happen. I say we meet the kids, and Jane gets about a minute in the medium before Dog Tier Jade bursts out of a fourth wall somewhere.

Mildly interesting fact: ex-Mom Lalonde uses TG for her chumnitials, like Dave Strider; rather than TT like Rose.
Presumably, ex-Bro Strider will use TT.Hark! An avatar drawn by Kate Beaton!

He's a deeply unpleasant homophobe, and participated in one of the most cringe-making internet/real life congruences of recent history, but hey, there's something to be said for his vaguely intimidating, tanned + spiky peroxide countenance leering from the Supreme Court bench.
Also, gotta agree that Ms Lalonde utterly owns. I particularly liked this exchange -

Lalonde is definitely rocketing up my favorite people list, but I'll need more to be sure. The time zone quote was my favorite.
So... perhaps the Empress's plan is for humanity to play the game, so that they are wiped out and trolls can inherit this universe, but she doesn't want humanity to win the game so she's trying to sabotage Jane?If you like my thoughts, you'll love my writing. Visit me at www.mishahandman.com.

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
Or it could be that having an oppressive society leads to players better able to play the game (as we saw with the very strict troll society). Perhaps it leads to people who are more resistant to outside controls and can think inventively within the rules of Sburb? For all we know this is actually Doc Scratche's way of helping the kids do better this time around.
Unrelated, I hope "THE GODDARNED RED SWINGY FLAPPY LEVER ARM THINGAMABOB" becomes a reappearing item. Jane's entire world should have mailboxes with red arms.

I know its everybody already knows this but isn't it cool considering that in our world, Betty crocker never existed. Wiped off the plane of reality itself?

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
I believe it's been implied that Doc Scratch it a constant in any universe which Lord English is/will be present in. He's said something along the lines that he has never failed to summon his master, and never will.
The pre-scratch kids and the trolls created the Green Sun (and therefore Lord English) out of their respective universes, allowing Lord English to have a presence in ANY universe because of time shenanigans. Presumably he would seed these universes with magic cue balls and Lil Cal dolls so that Doc Scratch could be created in a Sburb/Sgrub session, and therefore so could Lord English himself be created in that universe. Any universe with a first guardian such as Bec would not have Lord English in it (until and unless it got scratched).

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
My IRC group and i actually discussed this awhile ago, we think it might be possible that the only required ingredient for a Doc scratch is the cueball, with the second parent being open for randomness. for Example we had Bec as our first guardian pre-scratch right? Well assuming that the dog Haley still existed pst-scratch, our Doc Scratch may be half dog, half cueball, similarly Lord English would take on the appearance of a canine in the post-scratch universe.
However seeing as we have visible proof of Cal's existence post-scratch, it's still possible he is a required parent of Doc scratch.
it's not the SAME Doc scratch each time of coarse, merely another version of him.Avy by Thormag

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
Does it even have to be the cue ball? I think it was said that all first guardians are omnipotent and they gain omniscience as long as they're combined with anything that has sentience. So in theory you could use an intelligent race (rather than a magic cue ball) and still end up with something like Doc Scratch.

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
where does it say anything with sentience? The closest to that is, "a host of great intelligence". I think a big thing about Doc Scratch is the specific code that goes into his creation as well, why did all the flarpers scribe that code when they were crippled? Aradia wasn't really clear on why they did it, they all just did.

Re: MS Paint Adventures 4: 13
You're right, I was thinking of a "host of a great intelligence." Still, if you assume that any host of great intelligence will be omniscient (and therefore know about Lord English, via the definition of the term omniscient), I think there's a fair chance that you could make Doc Scratch or his equivalent using things besides a magic cue ball.
