Miradal calls the guide over. "Do you know what this is?"

The otyugh comes flopping back and reaches a tentacle down his throat and pulls out a pair of glasses. "Looks Chinese, Japanese or Kanji has broad and swift strokes while Chinese is more absolute. Not a clue as to what it says though."

[Ralasha]

"Is anyone here able to read this? I think it's a house, but I'm guessing based on it's shape."

[Isenvrill]

Niuqu walks over, glances at it and says, "That would be the symbol for metal."
(by the way, sorry I haven't been around much, I've been kind of distracted.)

Suddenly the bar signed metal begins to turn and pulls out from its place. Everyone can hear the grinding of gears from behind the vault.

Miradal prepares to pounce.

Their is some creaking and cranking noises but it than stops There are four pegs(?) left.

What the heck are those things on a vault door called?

Niuqu looks over the door for other symbols.

In fact on the other bars there are symbols that Niquo knows are they elemental symbols of fire earth water and wind.

"Hmm. Interesting." Niuqu points to each one, voicing the names of the symbols in both Chinese and English. "Who exactly is the person we are hunting? Yes, I know his name and face, but who is he?"

what order they go in would depend on your culture, however, being a mage, I suggest a knowledge arcana roll, to see if he recognizes the order as according to alchemy.

Miradal goes. "Basic elements of some sort? I think I remember a riddle about this... air feeds fire, water extinguishes fire, water erodes rock? I don't think that's how it goes. Hmm."

"He is a serious annoyance. No matter the crime he's there. He collects magical objects of all kind, he steals whatever he can money, weapons, people from the street, dragon eggs, deadly plants, as of right now he's been dealing mostly in magical objects and stealing construction supplies. " her two goons are busy playing rock paper scissors.

We're going to do the knowledge architecture first so I can get it out of the way.

From first glance you can tell this metal is not adamantium. There are a great deal of circular welding marks along the vault ranging from golf ball to manhole sized. Along the seam of the bank vault it is welded shut.

Far off in the tunnel Alie can see something. It's a bit fuzzy considering his eyes (still needs to make that fortitude roll) but it looks like two glowing yellow eyes. His keen ears pick up what sounds like growling.

If I understand you right he says them in this order: Metal, water, fire, earth, air. A pentagon if you will.

[Ralasha]

"In most cultures with a form of alchemy... metal or earth is normal, rather than both. In china for instance, it would be metal, air, fire, wood, and water. In europian alchemy it is fire earth air and water. My point being that earth and metal are redundant when used together, or is generally accepted as such."

As niquo says water the peg with water written on it pulls it self out. You hear loud clicking and both pegs push themselves back in. Some of the pipes running along the walls begin to squeak and than suddenly burst. Water starts pouring out.

Than Miradal gives it a go when she says metal the metal peg comes free but when she says air the air peg comes out and both retract. A few more pipes squeak and cold air comes out.

[Lets just say ive been failing the fort. Now to roll.]

Alie chimes in. "Two things guys. Something is watching us, and its pissed. And that valut is welded shut. What ever your doing, its not opening it.

"Something following us can't be too frightening with Miradal with us, but nonetheless we should try to get through quickly. Concerning the vault, it seems to be a rather simplistic puzzle--say the right words in the right order, and the door will open. I think I'll try metal, fire, water, earth, air."

"There is also some circular welds. For all I know, it may be the key.

When Alie warns of the unseen threat it vanishes.

The pegs pull out in the right order and the center begins to open like an aperture revealing a large hole in the center the water and cold air grind to a halt and move back into place.


(By the way Niquo how'd you figure out my puzzle?)

(A little bit of guess work, and just a touch of logic does just fine. and mysticism is a tad obvious when you know what to look for. Although I have to say, it's a touch more difficult when I can't explicitly see the puzzle, or know exactly which bit of mythology to use where. D&D can be pretty confusing as to what is does and doesn't use. Particularly this game.)

Miradal ruffles Alie's head. "Never warn prey child. Just pounce."

"Well its gone now. But YOU can pounce, Im more of a backup kind of guy. But lets move on."

[If its dark i can cast danceing lights.]

[Ralasha]

"Don't be a smart ass, and if you can't attack, what good are you? I would also like to point out, arrogant child, that even if you think it is gone, does not mean it is. You stay in the back of the group. If it attacks, on your head be it. Since you want to be an ass."

Miradal steps through the aperture.

After what seems like forever you come to the end of the small tunnel before you is a marvel of architecture for before you in an opening about 300 feet is a tower comprised of driftwood,metal, stone and materials that just don't look right. In most areas instead of walls there is cloth hanging over a rope. The base of the tower is a hundred feet away and submerged in water. The area is round and along the walls are two paths that lead to the water below. The tower doesn't appear to be standing up right but there is light. At the base of the tower there is a small stone wall comprised of stacked up stone road blocks. At the top of the tower is a spot light that is slowly scanning the room.

Miradal crouches down back in the tunnel, and watches the the light, and its surroundings, watching for anything seemingly out of place, or hidden in the shadows surrounding said light. She will slowly creep forwards to just inside the shadows of the tunnel, and look then at the tower to see what the light might illuminate upon its surface. "I can fly up and attempt to destroy the light, but that may raise the alarms. Thoughts?"
