Hello folks, I'm preparing a WW game to hold soonish, and I'd like your input. What would you like to see, how would you like it done and similar suggestions. I'll keep most of the details for myself, but I'll be taking reservations via PMs, if you really think you need to reserve your space . Expect it sometime before/on the weekend. I'll probably have the recruitment process last for 10 days.

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
I'm still planning on running the StarCraft one (probably over the summer), but I had another idea for a WW game: completely blind.
I'm talking the players don't know their own roles. Everyone gets a point and a PM for bane (in case they're the day-baner), and each night everyone sends in a vote for night kill (in case they're a wolf), a scry (in case they're seer/devil), and a bane (in case they're baner). For scry results, everyone but the real seer and devil gets a fool scry. As far as the baner staying secret goes, if the person you baned was ultimately baned, how would you know you're the only one who baned them? And a person's role isn't revealed when they die.
Thoughts people?I follow a general rule: better to ask and be told no than not to ask at all.

I can't say I enjoyed it, I was the first to die and it quickly got boring for me.

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
The result I got back from The Possessed was that a fully blind game needs a ton of information flowing into it (even more than a regular game). The novelty really needs to be based around a race to discover your role, and no, people will not discuss what happens nor will they extrapolate what they could be and act on that.
If the game doesn't have multiple ways for each person to figure out just what they do (conclusively) they'll lose interest pretty quickly. Another thing I think might be worth trying is connecting the wolves at the start, to give the town analysis patterns. In fact, I've pretty much started considering blind wolves to be the biggest boon you can give to team wolf, as strange as that seems at first. The BareFoot Programmer

Yeah, there has to be a way to at least know who's on your side. It's hard to enjoy a game when everything you can say is potentially in direct opposition to your win condition.

As some of you already know, I will be heading out to tour Europe this sunday for 3-4 weeks. While internet access is pretty much ubiquitous, I'll have less time to physically spend on it.
So, I'll be trying to keep up with all of my (few to none) games and obligations, of course. But I might not be able to answer quite so often, I may not be omnipresent on Messenger and so on. I apologize for the inconvenience and will endeavour to alleviate these problems as much as I am able.

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
So, uh...
Vesth and me are coming along in our planning, but we've stalled.
We have most of our ideas gathered, we need to flesh them out still. Although we do have a lot of fleshing out done, there's still work to be done.
Meanwhile, what would the general opinion on a WW about MMORPGs and MUDs be? With respawns for everyone (making everyone immortal) and choice of roles? Except, you don't know what powers your role would grant, nor do you get your powers right away...
It would involve levels and XP. And all win conditions being non-standard. And the narrator hiding behind silly names that don't reflect results. And powers gained so far being revealed, but alignment kept secret, on death. And a lot of making things up on the spot.
It would be called Level Up: Game On. There would be lots of very different choices... most of which I don't expect to be chosen. THIS IS NOT THE GAME VESTH AND I ARE WORKING ON.Demilich avatar by Smuchmuch. Thank you VERY much!

Wait then what game are you and Vesth working on
too lazy at the moment to see/remember if you two talked about it here.
because the one you described sounds awesome, but when would that game end if everyone is 'immortal'?We love plural first person personal pronouns.

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Possible endings could be triggered by:
One major alignment group has completed their win condition
Everyone has completed their condition or had it rendered impossible
Someone reaches max level
Everyone reaches max level
Server wipe or other predefined end game event
Which one (if any) is chosen really depends on how specific mechanics interact, with the first probably being preferable to keep close to the form of a WW game. The BareFoot Programmer

Re: Werewolf Central VIII: Important WW information goes here - READ OPENING POSTS!
Vesth and I are working on a zombie horror/survival game. If he wants to reveal some of the concepts we've explored, or the inspirations we've drawn from, he can.
As to the other game, I have 4 win conditions (5 factions, including neutral) right now: The number of Death Markers (which can disappear if you survive long enough without dieing again) exceeds the number of other players times 3, all members' levels exceed the highest level of the previous faction by 6 or more, all members levels exceed the highest level outside the faction, period, by 4, and all members collect 1000 or more gold.
Players can die, they just come back. Of course, dieing means you get a penalty until you lose your death marker. But just wait a while, and you will lose it (The penalty is related to your faction).
The game ends when a win condition is met. This may take a while, especially for the fourth condition. Or maybe not, depending on what roles they get.Demilich avatar by Smuchmuch. Thank you VERY much!
