Q 381 Can one craft Wondrous Items with a CL above their own level? (Exemple : can a lvl 9 Sorcerer craft a CL 12 Headband of Mental Prowess?)

    EDIT : Thank you Cieyrin.

A381 If said sorcerer has a CL higher than their level, then yes. You can't just arbitrarily make a higher level CL magic item than they have otherwise, though.

The question you seem to be actually asking, though, is whether the CL of a magic item is a prerequisite, to which the answer is no. You need to be high enough level to cast the necessary spells, which is often not the same as the listed CL. The provided CL is the default for finding one in the wild. If you create an item, its CL is set to your CL or lower, whichever you feel like paying for. For Wondrous Items, making an item at a lower CL doesn't make it cheaper like it would for charged items like scrolls, potions, wands and staves, so there generally isn't a reason to not craft something at the highest CL you can manage.

Everything Cieyrin said is true, but he missed one minor thing I'd like to add. When setting the CL of an item to a lower CL than yours, you can't lower below minimum for whatever spells and such are requisites for the item.

Example: A level 12 Wizard is brewing a Potion of Haste. He could choose to brew the potion at any CL between 5 and 12. 5 is the minimum level needed for him to cast Haste, 12 is his own CL. Making it with a higher CL would lengthen the duration of the spell, while a lower CL would cost less.

You can't in Pathfinder. The feat Quick Draw explicitly rules out wands. It's possible there's some alternative I'm not remembering, but I don't think so.

A 382 Continued You explicitly can't Quick Draw, though you can, if you have a BAB of +1 or higher, draw a wand as part of a move action, as wands fall under the weapon-like object clause. Spring-Loaded Wrist Sheathes can also be used with wands to draw as a Swift action. Tieflings, Griplis and I believe Vanaras all have access to traits/feats that allow them to draw objects as a swift action as well.

    Q 383
A human with the Racial Heritage (Halfling) feat enters the Halfling Opportunist prestige class and progresses to level two, gaining Exceptionally Lucky (Ex):
At 2nd level, a halfling opportunist learns how to squeeze even more from her innate luck. Her halfling racial bonus on saving throws increases to +2. This bonus increases to +3 at 4th level.
Our human, lacking the Halfling Luck trait, doesn't have a racial bonus to saving throws before this (not +0, simply non-existant). Does this ability have no effect, reduced effect, or is +2 to all saves suddenly gained?

Based on the way it's worded, I'd say our human now has a +2 racial bonus on saving throws. To me, the key is this wording: "Her halfling racial bonus on saving throws increases to +2." (emphasis mine.) The prestige class ability sets the bonus at +2, regardless of what it was prior.

That said, I do think an argument could be made that the ability has no effect. This is a question that may not have a 100% RAW answer, in my opinion.

I'm in a campaign and I've got an Alchemist. His skill-set favors smoke bombs, stink bombs, craft(alchemy) poisons and potions. Anyone know the basics on crafting poisons?
I want to know because I'd greatly appreciate the battlefield control aspect of inhale poisons like how Scarecrow, batman's enemy, uses them. Something like sending them into a state of uncontrollable paralyzing fear.

    A 384:
Crafting poisons works the same as other alchemical items. It costs 1/3 the price of the final poison in raw ingredients, and you need to make a Craft(alchemy) check with the DC equal to the save of the poison you're trying to make.

Note while this works for every poison by RAW, it you may draw some raised eyebrows if you somehow create Dragon Bile out of the salts, acids and bases in your alchemy kit. Use common sense.

confused Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I

Hey. I'm looking to take Weapon Finesse as a feat on this next level, and I'm pretty certain that it applies to all light and natural weapons, as well as those listed (Rapier, elven curved etc.) However, a couple of my fellow team mates believe I need to pick a specific weapon for it to apply to, and that's my lot. Do I have it wrong? Or are they thinking of a rule from D&D or something?

    Thanks in advance!

In Pathfinder (and 3.5 for that matter) Weapon Finesse applies to all finessable weapons.

Your friends are likely remembering the rule from 3.0 when Weapon Finesse had to be selected independently for each weapon.

You can't find it because (to the best of my knowledge) no such entry exists anywhere. The equipment table lists a guard dog and a riding dog, but only has descriptive text for the riding dog. Similarly, the Bestiary has stats for the riding dog, but not a guard dog.

My advice, which is decidely not RAW obviously, is to use the stats for the riding dog except remove the ability to use it as a mount. Alternately, you could also take the entry for a standard dog (the Small-sized one) and apply the "giant" simple template to make it Medium. More work, and may not produce different results (I'm too lazy to check it out).

The basic take away is Guard Dogs are Dogs with the Guard purpose. Think of Pit Bull Terriers, who fit neatly within the 20 to 50 lb range talked about, which puts them in the same weight category as halflings and probably able to outwrestle your average one.

The Skirmisher Archetype for the ranger replaces spells with "Hunter's Tricks," for those of us who like their rangers to be more mundane than mystical.

However, there is one bit that confuses me:
"A ranger can use these tricks a total number of times per day equal to 1/2 his ranger level + his Wisdom modifier."
Does that mean he can use any of his tricks that many times each, or is it a cumulative total per day?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if he can use his tricks a total of 6/day does that mean he could use Aiding Attack 6 times and Catfall 6 times? Or can he only use either of them 6 times a day total?

Yes, it also applies to grapples, because grappling uses CMB, which uses an attack roll, which the text of Weapon Focus applies to.

    Q 389

My character just went from medium to large, so her sword's damage went from 1d8 to 2d6.

Therefore, by the chart, if I go from large to huge, the damage goes from 2d6 to 3d6, correct?

    Q 390

Also, in the Giant Bloodline, the Powerful Build power says you grow particularly large and muscular and thus can count as one size larger if it's beneficial.

Does that mean we need to bump the height/weight up to the size limit?

    A 389 Correct.

A 390 That's not something very well covered in the rules, unfortunately. You want to discuss that with your DM and how to go about it. Size increases typically double your height and octuple your weight, if you go by Enlarge Person, so something between norm and that would be nominal.

A391 Continued Most magic items resize to fit the wearer, actually, Haversacks included. The items in the Haversack only resize if they're similarly magical, so you may need to rebuy your sleeping bag and rations, which aren't nearly as filling as they used to be.

I've read recently in a guide for Sorcerers that you could use Mount as a low level long duration "Summon Monster" spell.

However, I couldn't really find anything that either backs or denies this interpretation, so would a horse or pony conjured via Mount instead of Summon Monster fall under the standard rule for summons that they don't truly die when slain, will obey basic commands to the best of their ability and will actually try to attack enemies?

Yes, it functions as a summon since it's a spell of the Summoning subschool. It also attacks and the like since:
