Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall assessed the distance, then pulled out his boltgun and fired off a shot at the right enemy.
SpoilerGood lord, I've totally forgotten how to do this. Um, TN 42 + 10 (Rng) + 10 (Red dot) + 10 (Aim) + x for size? = 72(1d100)[94](unless the size bonus is 22+)
Damage:(2d10)[7][8](15)+9=17 / Pen 8

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Naaman moves to the other side of the intersection, staying behind the cover of the wall as much as possible.
SpoilerThanks to the suspensors, can move and fire with no penalties, and full auto is a half action.
Attack: (1d100)[35] TN 105 (65 + 10 Motion Predictor + 20 Full Auto + 10 Short Range)
Pen 5
Edit: Forgot the +2 for mighty shot...
Damage 1: (1d10+12)[2](14)+2 = 16 or(1d10+12)[2](14)Body
Damage 2:(1d10+12)[2](14)or (1d10+12)[3](15)+2 = 17 Body
Damage 3:(1d10+12)[5](17)or (1d10+12)[9](21)+2 = 23 Arm
Damage 4:(1d10+12)[1](13)or (1d10+12)[2](14)+2 = 16 Head
Damage 5:(1d10+12)[7](19)or (1d10+12)[8](20)+2 = 22 Arm
Damage 6:(1d10+12)[4](16)or (1d10+12)[8](20)+2 = 22 Body
So: 55 to the body, 45 Arm, 16 Head... and should this apply: don't forget the +2 to critical damage chart! (like I would...)

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
At the front of the column of the killer marines Namaan and Conall both shuffle forwards in a slow careful manner. As the hail of fire from the killer mech's assails the fonrt of the corner Conall leans round and fires a quick snap shot that goes wide of the mark before the Dark Angel slides the barrel of the heavy bolter around the corner and depresses the trigger unleashing a 4ft tongue of fire that results in the attack servitor exploding as its arms and body explosively detach sending fragments in a wide arc.
The second wheels round the masive multi-barrelled auto weapons cutting loose with a brutal whine of solid explosive round death that tears the passageway and conduits into steam and fuel leaking shards of twisted metal as Namaan and Conall both vanish into the super heated cloud.

Ivar
"Sorry ah'm late Brothers" the Space Wolf's voice drawls over the vox, "had ta' stop by an' see tha' Librarian 'fore ah' left". The quiet booming of Ivar's silenced rifle accompanies the message, echoing from down the corridor and announcing his presence to the mech in a suitably hostile manner.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
SpoilerSorry for the delay - as you can see in my sig, I'm not at my most efficient!
Looking at the shot and AP12, Conall will take 4 wounds ... which means all his healing is gone!
Conall leaned back as the servitor fired its hail of death, using the corner for cover. Unfortunately, the corner was not enough to completely protect him; he felt a tearing through his calf as a round ripped through the steel and ceremite. The pain barely had time to register when his body started increasing the flow of endorphins to dampen the effects and start the healing process. Grunting to himself, he kept back, knowing that he would do the mission no good if he was dead. For now, he would trust his brothers to deal with the threat.
Besides, there would be plenty of time later to die for the Emperor.Life is ... life. As always bot/cut as necessary.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The leader of the Kill Team arrives soundlessly sliding between his massive armoured brothers to drop to a knee and fire a laserlike shot that dings deep into the robotic superskeleton.
Even as the armorued combat servitor reels from the single shot Namaan unleashes a hail of explosive rounds leaving the Mechanicus droid in shattered pieces.
The sound of combat fading slightly the way clear once more - The choice left through the power storage centre or right through a fuel reclaimation cycler...Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ivar
"Brother Conall, ye still good tae carry on?" the wolf scout asks, laying a reassuring hand on his wounded brother's shoulder, "ye've taken a fair bit o' damage there".
"Ah'll scout ahead Brothers" Ivar declares after hearing Conall's reply, as he vanishes down the left hand path through the power storage centre. "Watch tha vox and be ready tae take up ambush positions". Power storage sounds like a more likely place for the hereteks to be tapping the ships power for their own ends, and an opportunity to take a prisoner unawares for later interrogation would be useful, no doubt.
SpoilerIvar is going to lead the team down the left hand path, with himself scouting ahead of the main group.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The wolf scout vanishes into the shadows as he hops over the conduits and heavy opwer cables - lithe (if small) in his scout armour. The rest of the marines slowly trouped after him banging off the cramped quarters before they held just before the corridor opened up...
As the front Ivar paused at the edge of the large cavern as the pair of massive van de graff generators hang from the ceiling. Each one some 200m in diameter and sheathed in crackling energy.
Generator Room of DOOM
Spoiler
On the other side of the chamber some 300m away underneath one of the main power relays for the entire vessel Ivar could see a red-robed tech priest with long mechandrite stinkering with something as two enormous battle servitors stalk him.
Scattered around the edge of the space underneath the huge rotating electrical space two dozen or so skitarii in battle formation clutching heavy power glaives in their bionic limbs...

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ivar
Ivar crouches behind a nearby barricade, manoeuvring himself into a defensible position. "Brothers, ah've found tha targets" he whispers quietly, "move up, and we'll see what tha element o' surprise gets us. Try tae maintain stealth".
Orders given, he shifts his head over the barricade, studying the Heretek through his scope. The half-machine bastards tend to be tougher than most targets, so he takes his time, picking out a suitable chink in the augmetics, preferably one with some nice fleshy bits for the toxin to do it's work on.
When the time comes to take his shot, he intends to make it count.
SpoilerIvar can use his Tactics (Recon and Stealth) skill in place of the other marines Concealment rolls once they're in Support range via the Ambush special use. Considering that the others are all in power armour, this may well be a good idea.
Tactics (Recon and Stealth) 43 vs (1d100)[50]
Next, he'll try and get some use out of Evaluate. It's a Basic skill, so he can use it untrained. He'll use the Weak Points special use on the heretek.
Evaluate 21 vs (1d100)[86]
And then he'll take a full-round Aim, and ready an action to shoot the heretek if the other marines approach doesn't go as undetected as planned.
I've been reading through all the interesting special uses some of the DW skills have. Can you tell?
EDIT Blargh, failed the tactics roll. And the Evaluate one, but I was expecting that. Guess we've got to hope that everyone else can make a Concealment roll at -30.Last edited by Tome; 2012-09-19 at 06:45 PM.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
With ghostlike stealth and subtlety the wolf scout pads ahead into the sahdows and watches the enemies as they "play" amidst the glowing power conduits under the massive dome of the power reactor.
Even more surpirsing is the awesome stealth of the robotoc techmarine as he hefts his huge servo harness and the claw gently balances the bulky armour. Naamaan follows after - ghosting along with the 60kg bulk of the heavy bolter as he moves into position. Seconds later there is a loud clang as the hilt of the Sacris Claymore bumps into a pipe and the sound echoes alarmingly across the open space...
Spoiler

The instant Ivar hears the clang, he pulls the trigger. Long years working with his fellow sons of Russ had taught him this lesson many times, though he still held out hope that one day he might find a group of his brothers actually capable of executing a stealth mission. Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
In a millisecond its chaos. A silenced shot cracks out a spurt of blood and bionic oils leak from the Hereteks frame before the power field snaps up but much of the power is attenuated by the bionic frame and the creatures hardwired carapace.
The power snaps upa second later activated by the increased heart rate of the heretek that its bonded to. Servitors activate their weapons and Skitarii slide off the safeties but not fast enough...

The thrill of battles courses through the Dark Angel's blood, as he lines his beloved heavy weapon up with the nearest servitor, viewing even the tech enhanced skitarri as the lesser threat. "WITH BLESSED BOLTER AND BLADE WE SHALL CLEANSE THIS DEN OF EVIL!!" he bellows, his voice, harsh with disuse as it is, still proves to be more than a match for the roar of his heavy bolter, with only some help from the built in speaker in his helmet.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall grunted to himself at Naaman's warcry. He knew well the value of a single Marine, and thus knew throwing himself at the enemy, heedless of their firepower, would result in his death. However, knowing and feeling were two different motivators.
Glancing at his brother, he shook his head. He shames me with his valour ... Leaning out, he took aim at one of the large servitors and fired his bolter.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Bullets and bolt shells fly under a hail of fire. The servitors last mere seconds in front of the fury of the marines. The one targetted by the Namann literally disintegrating under the weight of the heavy bolt shells that rip it into tiny pieces under a vast hail of fire. The last few rounds bouncing off the glittering powerfield surrounding the tecvh priest.
A fraction of a second lanter the field shimmers and pings again as the sniper round deflects off the field.
The second servitor is not as lucky - a trio of well placed bolt shells tearing through its delicate internal cranial circuitry. The adamantine penetrators ripping through the armour like paper as it crimples with a dull clang and in a shower of sparks.
The tech priest looks across at the marines. A crackle of binary directing the cybernetically augmented skitarri as he turns to face the marines. An ancient looking and unusual integated plasma blaster in his arms levelled at Namaan as a stream of fire follows...

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall leaned back after having shot one of the servitors. Now the threat was reduced to a huge horde of skitarri and their leader. Leaning out, he fired off another burst, this time focusing on the heretik.

Life is ... life. As always bot/cut as necessary.
DM: "Why do you have so many characters?"
Me: "Because I never embraced the strategic value of running away."
Fare thee well, N_R ... you will missed!y

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ivar
Silently cursing as he sees his shots deflect off the heretek's force field, Ivar voxes orders to the rest of the team. "Brothers, focus ye fire on tha Skitari fer now. It'll need a concentrated assault tae bring down tha' heretek's field".
Ducking down behind the vent, the wolf scout hurls a grenade over his should and into the midst of the skitari to keep them occupied as he readies his heavy bolter for use. At least the blasted thing will finally get some use, he thinks as he disengages the safeties and unhooks the hefty weapon from his back.
SpoilerTime to get some use out of that Heavy Bolter Ivar is always lugging about (Quick Draw apparently does not apply to heavy weapons).
Half-Action: Throw Frag Grenade into the Skitari horde
Half-Action: Ready Heavy Bolter
