Ardelan's senses come into focus rapidly, the psyker knowing why he was here as the now hit him like a bolt shell.

His foresight was surely a gift from the Emperor, and he carried a gift from the Emperor-as-Omnissiah due to this.

"I may negate the field, brothers!"

He says as he rockets into the air. True, he disobeyed Ivar's order to focus on the Skitarii, but he had foreseen this earlier...

...the airborne Librarian then drops an EMP grenade onto the heretek as he flies over, attempting to reach cover in the ceiling.

Unfortunately, however, in spite of the blessing of precognition granted to him, the blessed grenade fails him, and only stops the chronometers of those caught in the blast radius.

Bullets flare and and the tech priest staggers as strange oil like fluids drip from his cybernetic limbs. The Skitarri and Heretek priest watch as the librarian soars overhead dropping an ancient device built by the very people that you are attacking. The heresy unveiled as the haywire grenade is fickle and accomplishes nothing.

Even as that happens the devastator opens up and 3 of the skitarri are caught in the open - fragments of bone, bionic and flesh spread over the ground in a vast smear of red gore.

The Heretek growls a deep growl as he reaches down to his feet pulling up a long tubular weapon that is not recognised by any of the marines. A second later a razor sharp crack as the hypersonic projectile zips towards Namaan.

The bolts tearing into him spray the deck below with blood, smashing apart organs and bone, leaving Ardelan horrendously injured.

He grits his teeth as his blood soaks his brothers below, taking cover in the support struts high up as he makes a request of his team leader.

"Brother Ivar? Permission to engage the Skitarii in melee?"

Ivar considers Ardelans request carefully. The Librarian is gravely wounded indeed, but in the midst of the Skitari may well be the safest place for his brother. A lascannon shot blasting past his cover cinches it. "Granted, Brother. Target tha' Lascannons if ye can. Primarchs be with ye".

Heavy Bolter readied for use, Ivar rises from behind the duct, levelling the weapon at the skitari. The noise and force of such a weapon was never his style, but his precision strikes have little place in a battle like this. "For Russ and the Allfather!".

Ardelan advances alongside Conall, taking cover next to his brother, nodding to him that he's ready to attack.

"The Emperor has granted me foresight, brother..." he says, retrieving his Haywire Grenade.

"Misuse of technology can possibly be countered thusly..."

And with that, he grips a grenade in his fist... choosing the EMP grenade not for its non-lethal effects, but because the large amount of cover that could protect against a frag grenade wouldn't prevent a haywire field from breaking their guns.

That, and the psychological damage it could do to hereteks would be phenomenal. Killing their implants might be nice too...

Ardelan stamps several times on the deck, finding a section he can put a hole in, near where the heretek is, then pulls the pins on a pair of krak grenades and places them on the floor, indicating that Conall should do the same, then moves to cover before they blast a hole in the deck.

There is a plume of smoke and fragments of metal rai off the heavy armour of the marines as the deck plating is torn apart leaving a gaping hole down to the next level.

Through the gaping hole in the floor the heavy thunder of machinery can be the heard as the massive shifting drive wheels of the ships primary power systems are visible to the Kill Team. The interior of the huge spinning pistons and wheels a dizzying maze of moving metal. The place engulfed in darkness and devoid of life - only the most hallowed of Tech Magos allowed in here.

In the darkness, in the heart of the spinning metal you can see the Temple to the Omnissah. A collection of cogitators and neural links and a series of heavy stasis pods filled with barely concealed forms and strange fluids.

The enemy magos stands in the heart of it. 2 of his fellows with him. All 3 of them clutching strange weapons of arcane performance. The 3 hereteks barely have time for mechandrites to twitch before the librarian is among them. Crackling electricity arcing and shorting cybernetics and powered armour joints. But the hereteks most sacred holies are hardened with tough and venerable spirits that resist attack.

Even as the Angel staggers back in partially fused armour unleashing a great swathe of destruction it clashes and washes against the fields around two of them in a colossal dishacharge of energy that raises hairs and leaves all sweating from the heat of the energy released - a string of explosions at the hereteks waist as the power of Ardelan's mind overcomes the arcane field technology. THe third heretek rolling sideways out the arcing psych blast.

Conall watched as his brother jumped down and engaged the hereteks with grenade and lightning. But even with being caught by surprise, the foul traffickers in forbidden lore managed to escape the fury of the Encarmine Angel of Death.

    Now it was his turn.

Leaping down into the hole created by their krak grenades, Conall flew into the three hereteks with thunderous force, lashing out with his feet and fists. Then as he gain his balance, he pulled out his huge claymore and laid into the lead heretek.

I'll wait for the results of this one before rolling for his normal attacks.

NOTE: Successful unarmed attacks (i.e., damage >= to Toughness) cause 1 Fatigue level.

EDIT: Wow, the dice still love me, too, Caimheul ... 89, 87, and 91 for attack rolls? Yeesh! I'm guessing these guys don't have +30 size bonuses (and I don't think we get any other bonuses right now) so I'll count those as misses; however the Knockdowns still have a chance at success (added the +10 based on moving first).

EDIT 2: Forgot about the surprise round! So if they have any size bonus, I hit all three; otherwise, I hit the first two.

    Naaman

Naaman moves towards the hole in the floor, changing his heavy bolter load as he moves. While the metal storm rounds are devastating against large groups of enemies, attempting to use them against well protected enemies, particularly those engaged in close combat with his brothers, is ill-advised.

Standing above two of the three downed hereteks, Conall would have smiled grimly ... if he grown a sense of humor during his transformation into a hulking death machine for the Emperor. Instead, he simply raised his mighty blade and swung three times rapidly, trying to end this threat once and for all.

The Space Wolf considers switching back to his sniper rifle now that more suitable targets have presented themselves, but decides in favour of continuing to utilise his venerable heavy bolter.

It's use is slightly less familiar to him than that of his preferred weapon, but age and experience lend him a steady hand none the less.

Blood and cybernetic fluids spray and splatter like a gory display of vivisection. Even as the the lightning fades the massive Storm Warden is amongst them. The leader and his larger ally are both smahes to the ground. The leader's arm being sheared off at the elbow by the massive claymore. The second more lithe heretek nimbly ducks back diving out of te way as an armoured strike breaks ribs even with the carapce plating and mechanical upgrades. Like Lightning the claymore scythes down like an executioners blade as it shears the leader brutally in half. Twitching mechandrites and moving wires jutting out of the severed spine.

The larger of the two is hammered twice on the ground with bonecrushing force. The first narrowly sliding off the powerfield as a blast of energy illuminates the spinning cogs and whirling dark age generators. The second blade is far more brutal as a cybernetic limb skitters across the rusty floor. The heretek twitching and writhing as the sudden loss of blood and oil sends him into shock.

The second one does not survive her fellows long. Her field pulsing once before the 5 heavy bolt shells tear into and through her body. Chunks of flesh ripped and torn off her cybernetic frame before she landed heavily twitching and dying.

Atop the sub level the techmarine stares at the console where the hereteks had been working. Runes and binary flashed across the screen as something twitches and changes on the screen. Cogitator banks in the vessel counting down to something....
