Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Naaman pounds on the door with one of his power armoured fists in frustration.
"Do you see a way to open this bulkhead, brother? There is still hope the heretek is not out of reach."

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall slightly shrugged, glancing at his sacred blade and chainsword. Then he raised his bolter, loaded with kraken rounds, and a krak grenade, eyebrow raised in question.
SpoilerSorry for the long silence on this one ... any chance that 1d10+9 / Pen 8 or 3d10+4 / Pen 6 might put a dent in the bulkhead? WITHOUT killing us all, of course.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The heavy door refuses to give way beneath the large fists of the devastator. As Conall stares at the door, the joins being an obvious weakness he thinks that the anti-tank Krak grenades may have a chance but not much else.
THe rest of the room is clearing out fast as the servitors not destroyed are switched to "safe" mode and collapse lifelessly to the ground. The Magos Engineerum mostly involved in flight. Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall didn't know who to radio in order to open these doors, but given the corruption rife within the technically-minded of this ship, he deemed any request doomed to fail. Resolved to the destruction of ship property, he took a grenade and nodded to Naaman, identifying the joints he thought to be weak points.
Once set, he stood back, letting them detonate.
SpoilerNot sure if I need to set it up w/demolitions, or if I'd be better off tossing the grenade at PB range Either way, trying to use the krak grenades to open this door!Life is ... life. As always bot/cut as necessary.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The crack of the grenade is loud. Echoing around the large generator room and the door vanishing in a cloud of thick acrid metal tanged fog. As the fog clears the door lies shattered - a great rent in the centre of it.
A single wrench by the massive muscled marines sends the pair of 8ft wide metal doors spinning and sliding across the floor revealing the smoke wreathed corridor beyond. But no sign of the heretek....

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The corridor looks empty. A few scuffs and marks of oil near an old grate the only sigh anything has passed this way. Even to the superhuman senses of the marines there apepars nothing....
THe flickering light flashes on and off. Dull alarms still blaring and moments later a security team running to a skidding halt at the appearance of the pair of colossal killing machines. Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The grate flies off the handle as the enhcnaced superhuman strength reds the thin metal revealing a narrow passageway beyond. The scuff marks of heavy boots mar the dust and rust leaving an easy trail to follow.
A trail that is increased by several more footprints as more cultists obviously join the escaping heretek...

Naaman looks at the obvious tracks left behind by the heretek and his followers. "Narrow passageways make for good ambush locations. A cautious advance is likely to be safer, at the cost of potentially allowing our target to escape. What say you brother?"

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The two marines push forward through the dark maze of tunnels, conduits and girders. The flickering sparks and dark lights of no hinderance to the genetically enhanced eyes augmented by the armoured senses.
Sadly though... the marines as they advanced cautiously found nothing of note. A few fragments of cloth and sweat, a fresh oil drop upon the dust... But no vile heretics...Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The chaos within the main chamber housing the colossal genatorium has faded by the time you return. A line of magos deactivating any suspect servitors that may have been subverted. The method of deactivation - a bolt to the back of the skull - swift and sure, if a trifle messy.
As you enter you see a senior magos. The inbuilt rail gun and lightning emblems of a Crimson Guard Centurion approaches and gives a faint salute as befitting one of such rank. "Astartes. Was the traitor apprehended?"Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The Crimson guard gestures meaningfully to the growing pile of dead and destroyed servitors. "Any corruption, and trace of heresy is being expunged Astartes."
He looks again at the growing pile of broken and rapidly executed servitors. "The heretek was stationed to monitor the ventral geller field controls and void shielding. Why Astartes. Are you now versed in the arts of the Mechanicus?"Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall glanced back at the guard. "No. Just purging the unclean ... or those lacking in the faith of the Emperor's own."
Staring down the man, he considered the information, wondering what ills the traitor could cause in fouling with the void shields or geller field controls. "I suggest you see to those systems and ensure there are no signs of sabotage.

One of Naaman's hands begins playing with the hilt of his combat knife. "Perhaps you yourself have fallen to corruption. Perhaps the best course of action is to ask you a few questions in private." Naaman growls threateningly.

The Crimson Guard stares at the two Astartes- not entirely cowed by the hulking marines before slowly answering Namaan. "We Crimson Guard have loyalty beyond reproach. The Ominissah will curse you arms before a single Crimson Guardsmen breaks ranks."
Looking back to Conall he watches the other technicians at the consoles. "The magii will eradicate any traces of corruption or dark machine spirits. Unless you have more technical aptitude than I would expect?"Thanks to Emperor Ing for the nice Avatar

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall simply stared back at the Crimson Guard. "When traitors are on the loose, none are above reproach by virtue of position or markings." Glancing around, he shook his head at the question. "I have no particular skill, except distrust for anything the Traitor has worked on. We will leave you to your efforts."
Glancing back at Naaman, he nodded back the way they had come. "It seems there is little else for us to do, Brother, but report back to Ivar and the Captain.Life is ... life. As always bot/cut as necessary.

"We have recently slain a large number of hereteks on board this very ship, and you did not ferret out the traitor on your own. Clearly your own measures have proven inadequate." Naaman says as he begins heading back to the watch chapel.

Conall saluted the Watch-Captain before responding. "Sir, we divided our forces. Brothers Naaman, Makradon and myself were to find a heretical device, but we were ambushed by a traitor and his forces. The traitor escaped into the bowels of the ship. The Crimson Guard are checking the engines for signs of tampering.
Brothers Ivar and Ardelan departed in stealth mode, searching for signs of the cult. We were under radio silence.
