The goliath shakes and roars with the explosions and gun battle raging through the corridors as The Sin's crewmen fight in narrow chokepoints and are held at armoured bulkheads within the ship guarded by the strangely strong and resilient enemy crew. Even with Commander Korvin's excellent leadership the brave men and women of The Sin make slow progress and with the bodies strewn in corridors it has been costly...

Near the fore of the ship and mid-decks the Deatwatch Kill team is situated some 400m from the bridge that lies slightly fore and many long twisting decks above them, the sensorioum buried under the prow direcly above them and the vast plasma refining tanks beneath them leading down to the converted launch bays where even now hundreds of enemy crew hurry and bustle loading melta warheads under the wings of void fighters ready to rain destruction down on the Sin.

    Lexicanium Kol, Flesh Tearers

Kol closes his eyes for a moment, savoring the smell and feel of the blood now slicking the corridor, then turns his attention away. "Well, let us quit wasting time," he says. "Techmarine, we shall take the bridge. Naaman and Conall, take the launch bays. Try not to blow up the plasma refinery. Ivar, pace us and cover our flank for the moment, but feel free to take targets of opportunity."

Conall reached down to remove a strip of padding from one of the dead heretics. It took a moment to find a piece that had escaped being drenched in blood, but once he found one, he cleaned his claymore and returned it to its sheath. To Kol's orders, he nodded curtly, glancing at Naaman. "Done."

Checking the route to the bays, he readied his weapons and stepped towards the access shaft. Kol had called for haste, afterall.

The inside of the vast converted terraforming vessel is a maze of conduits, corridors and access hatches all organised in a twisty horrific manner to confuse anyone boarding the ship. Gunfire and the screams of the dying echoed in the smoke filled corridors lit only by the strobing light of emergency lamps and glowing alarms...

Creeping ghostlike down corridors, boltgun snapping occasionally as he encountered lone enemy crewmen who were then brutally dispatched the Space Wolf crept through the maze of wire and conduit filled access crawlways as stealthy as a hunting cat. After some 15 minutes by his reckoning he could see the main access to the sensorium sadly sealed, though a whirring sound above distracted his fopcu for a second as he noted the 6ft diameter air shaft. Minutes later as he sat crouched shrouded in his colour shifting camo cloak in an large air vent, the fan blades whirring an inch beneath his feet he could see vast collection of cogitator banks, hololithic display screens and massed comm-servitors and scribes in the brightly lit circular room beneath him. He counted, heard, smelled and saw some 15 security troops- worthless heretical humans with strange form fitting xeno-mesh body suits and las-weapons- and sitting in a command chair in the centre of the large circular web of displays an arrogant specimen of a man with 3 bars of rank on his shoulder and an immaculate uniform barking orders to the scribes and comm-servitors manning the consoles.

If you're happy with the situation, you're in a large air vent some 4m above the floor of a large circular room housing the sensorium controls. The room is ~40m in diameter with a single set of sealed doors. The room is filled with banks of computers and display screens and some 60 or so unarmoured and unarmed scribes and technicians. In a command throne in the centre of the room is an enemy officer and there are 15 "Heretical guardsman" scattered mainly near the large door (A small horde +10 to hit it)

The Storm warden and Dark Angel leave a trails of dead and dying in their wake as they encounter small groups of enemy crew or the pinned down and confused crewmen from the Sin. The march of the massive marines is inexorable however as they force their way aft literally hacking through massive ceramite and armourplast bulkheads and walls when the maze of cramped corridors and access hatches grows too much.

As they push aft the resistance grows stronger as the enemy seek to protect the valuable launch bays. Soon the heavy bolter glows red hot and the claymore is covered in red gore. A pause allows a moment to regain order and prepare, having been exploring the confusing layout for some 15 minutes... As they scout a corner they have found one of their objectives. Ahead of them, some 20m down the wide if low ceilinged corridor they can see a large set of armoured blast doors. Marked with words in low Gothic that read Hangar Bay Alpha. The corridor widens here from the small maze of narrow crawlways to a vast thoroughfare some 10m wide and crouched behind hastily erected barricades of ammo crates, barrels and other paraphenelia are an entire platoon of some 30 enemy troops in flak armour and face encompassing helmets clutching a motley collection of lascarbines and autoguns. The largest threat however comes from the crew served autocannon perched behind an abandoned metal crate and the murder-servitor laden down with twin-linked heavy bolters.

You have just come down a narrow corridor and at the end it meets the the main thoroughfare. 20m to the right are the main blast doors to the landing bay. To the left at the intersection the large corridor heads up to another set of sealed blast doors. You can see 4 other small corridors branching off to the left and right similar to the small corridor you're currently crouched in.

There is a horde of 30 guardsmen; 1 gun servitor and 1 crew served autocannon.
Due to the noise and chaos you will get the surprise round.

The going is slow as the enemy defenders become more elite as you push forward but encountering them in 2s and 3's they don't even give you pause before being rent asunder or burned to death horribly.

After some 15 minutes of exploring the fore section of the ship the corridors around you change. Instead of bare metal and exposed conduits its more white marble and alblaster busts, of what was once human saints, but are now disturbing alien shapes, heavily cowled yet unmistakably humaniod, they seem almost to move and shift to the eye as they glitter in a disturbing manner.

Your threat registers activate in your helmet HUDs as you can see a large set of double doors ahead. Both doors slightly ajar. Eyes picking out any details you can see that beyond the two doors the corridor opens up into a large meeting chamber that throngs with life. A pair of stairs rise up to the left and right curling around to meet at the top in a large balcony where you can see a heavily armoured secure transport tube. The meeting room has been militarised in the extreme, heavily armoured elite enemy troops lining the balcony, the stairs and crouched behind turned over benches and tables. These you recognise, the all encompassing carpace armour, the energy backpacks and the large bulky hellguns. The more pressing issue as mere me do not matter to the Angels of Death is the Towering enemy Captain standing atop the balcony in the heart of his men clad in a suit of ancient Ignis model power armour. A forearm mounted plasma weapon on his right arm and faintly buzzing powerlongsword, 6ft long clasped in both hands...

Reaching their objective had been tedious work. Fortunately (or unfortunately), it was not difficult enough to take its toll on the legendary Space Marine endurance. Over time, holding the mighty cannon steady as its incessant, deep staccato reverbrated through the hallways of the ship, or continuously swinging the huge blade might wear on the two warriors ... but not yet.

As they approached a T in the cramped quarters, Conall peered carefully around the corners to glance both ways. He caught sight of a group of dug-in troops, ducking his head back before they saw him. The sounds of weapons fire, screams and explosions must have covered their approach, because none of the men seemed intent on the corridor.

Leaning back, he glanced back at Naaman. Holding up a three fingers and a fist, he motioned towards himself. Pointing at his Battle-Brother's heavy bolter, he raised up two fingers, then pointed back at Naaman.

Without missing a beat, Naaman stepped around the corner and unleashed hell on the unsuspecting scum. Conall waited for 20 heart beats of blazing metal, listening to the explosive bolts rip into the servitor, before spinning around the corner and launching himself towards the largest concentration of men.

With his jump pack providing momentum and his shoulder lowered, Conall hit the heretics with his bulk, taking advantage of their suprise as he raised his sword high to attack ...

The librarian's lightning is as impressive a virtual storm of death that crackles along the top the balcony, every carapace clad solider the lightning touching exploding, his body lit with blue light before his skeleton reducing to black ash and the laser capacitors in his backpack igniting adding to the carnage. the enemy captain is blown sideways tumbling backwards as the full force of Kol's mind slams into him. Shockingly he rises! Lightning and smoke streaming off the heavy carapace a veritable storm of electrical energy surging over him as his power field crackles and hisses overloaded entirely by the energy hurled into him by the librarian. He moves to target the Librarian even as the massive marine darts into cover...

The carnage by the sealed hangar doors was horrendous with rent open bodies, burned corpses and so many just crushed by massive punishing blows that it made reaching the door awkward. Though it was obvious that the massive ceramite door was sealed. Though even through the thick metal they could hear the sounds of void jest firing up and heavy machinery moving around...

Rifling through the bodies, or at least breaking them in half and seeing what falls out as a giant hulking marine is wont to do the Dark Angel does find a keypad. An archaic looking thing of precious metals and crackling wire wrapped around the severed head of the platoon leader.

As you hold it daintily in your massive armoured paws you can see strange writing in a language that you don't understand on it. But it seems to be a fairly simple proximity door opening device...

The massive hulking enemy officer ducks backwards raising his own powerblade as it deflects the librarians fast and brutal attack. Ignoring the bolt shell tearing through a balcony support by his feet he goes on the offensive two-handed power blade hacking brutally at the Blood Angel successor.

As it swung down at his face one of Kol's thought's was that the heavy longbladed power longswords were a popular weapon with senior officers of the Brontian Longknives... the thought vanishing as the massive marine's force sword met and blocked the human officer's swings with contemptous ease.

The red locking lights turn green with a faint Ping and the vast airlock doors break their seal with a hiss of gas and retract into the doors revealing a bustling flight deck on the other side.

The cavernous hangar hold is a hive activity, dozens of void fighters in haphazard rows with fuelling trucks and ordinance wagons loading nephium fuel and plasma warheads onto the waiting birds. Dozens more maintenance men stand by every plane fine tuning the aged systems and plugging small leaks as swaggering pilots sit waiting the in cockpits all the action centred around the 4 massive cargo lifts waiting to take the planes down to the lower bay and into the waiting void.

At first no-one notices the doors opening but gradually the panic spreads as the deck crews see the 2 marines standing amidst the piles of dead guards- a red warning klaxon goes off...

Inside the hangar is ~30 void fighters lining the walls ( many with fuelling trucks or holders with melta and plasma warheads beside them.)

there are 2 hordes of maintenance personnel. Both hordes of 120 (so a whopping +60 to hit); one to the left, one to the right. Mostly unarmoured and unarmed.

One horde of maintenance servitors to the right (30 strong)- no guns

One horde of security troops near the middle (so ~100m away)

Standing still for a moment to take stock of the situation, Conall watched as the heretics noticed their arrival and the panic started. Most of those gathered he dismissed - unarmed technicians and workers who would provide little threat and less of a challenge. The security team was another issue, but at one hundred meters, it would take him more than a few moments to cross the open space and engage. At this distance, his bolter would ride them of a scant handful, but nothing appreciable. Glancing at Naaman's huge weapon, he knew his brother was better equipped to deal with the guards.

To the other side, however, was an opponent that might be worth some effort. However, he too was outside an extended jump. Switching weapons faster than the unaugmented eye could follow, Conall pulled for his bolter and leapt forward towards the human in the cargo loader. Landing close to cover, he raised his weapon and fired at the man's head ...

Damage (if nit): (1d10+9)[13]X, Pen 4

Unless we have surprise, or some other bonus for shooting a guy who is otherwise engaged, a 57 is a miss.

    Conall & Naaman

Conall's bolt shell goes wild clanging off one of the heavy struts of the machine as it lumbers towards the 2 marines, a movement matched by the other one as they close on the invading Astartes. The nearest advancing getting very close still clutching the melta missile like a large club. The other breaking into a hesitant run.

The servitors, unware and slow of thought and movement continue their slow building and repairs whilst the crewmen and maintenance workers flee to wards the hangar door on the far side of the great cavern.

THe horde of guardsman dive for cover amidst the struts and fuel lines and void fighters as the metal storm rounds assail them with a welter razor sharp steel. 13 of them fall, limbs ripped off and chests blown clean through leaving bloody streaks on the harsh decking.

The remaining guardsmen return fire, laser fire ripping the air around the two Marines... Conall avoiding the worst of it but Namaan lighting up las fire crackles around him in a halo of superheated air. The ancient heresy armour cracking slightly as the only Namaan's super hardened body stops him being killed outright...
