Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Naaman
The Dark Angel nods in response to the Storm Warden's smile, a rare glimpse of humanity from the otherwise reserved devastator. He quotes from most holy scripture in reply to his brothers comment. "We are the Emperor's wrath." Following the congratulatory speech, he makes his way to his quarters to remove his armour and have his wounds seen to by one of the medical servitors.Last edited by Caimheul; 2011-12-19 at 11:32 PM.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Brother Conall
Upon returning to the Chapel, Conall returned his bolter, ammunition and grenades and made his report. The mission felt somewhat like a failure, but at least the adversary was destroyed before they could escape. He also checked in on the Librarian, saying a brief prayer to the Emperor to protect over the comatose marine.
When he returned to his chamber, Conall removed his gear and put on a simple robe. Over the next few hours, he cleaned his jump pack, sharpened and polished his blade, then set about repairing his armor. The scars he left, knowing it would add to the mystique, but it must be functional. Once he was finished with the gear he used, he moved onto the gear he hadn't used, stripping and cleaning his bolt pistol, checking the teeth and gears on the chainsword, and the like.
Afterwards, he returned the gear to its proper location and he took a moment to meditate on his actions, as well as those of his brothers. Soon, it would be time to martial training, a meal, and further tactical study. Perhaps after that was all done, he would sleep for an hour or two ...
Just another day in the Deathwatch.Life is ... life. As always bot/cut as necessary.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
After the Kill-Team return to their chambers and similar, Brother Ardelan stations himself in the med-bay, maintaining a vigil over the fallen Librarian. He is aware that, not being a Sanguinary Priest, there is little help he can offer, but he reasons that it could do no harm to have another of his lineage watching over him.
He stands, silent for the most part (when not quietly offering traditional prayers of his Chapter), thinking about what happened.
Did Brother Kol acquit himself, his Chapter and the blood of Sanguinius with honour, sacrificing himself for the mission?
Or did his resolve and his steel fail him? Was he bested by a lesser foe? Did he break ranks, giving in to the Beast Within?
Regardless, in strength or in weakness, Ardelan knowing both all too well in himself, he should have a brother watching over him. Who could know what visions were tearing through his mind just now. Sensations of rage, the scent of blood, the pulsing sound of traitorous hearts, the taste of flesh...
Ardelan stands stoically, knowing the torment of his brother-marine all too well.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The bell tolls in the chapel with a mournful sound summoning robed and hooded marines from their prayers, meditations or training. The Watch Captain, a hulking figure garbed in sheer black robes embalzoned with the Deathwatch symbol of that of his old chapter- the Cromson fists on his shoulder stands ready. "Brothers. Stand ready. A xeno infestation has taken hold upon the weak and feeble humans on the ship. They require us to cleanse them.
Who stands ready?
He looks amongst the dozen or so marines in the chapel gauging the worth of each for this particular mission.

Ardelan salutes with his fist to his chestplate, silently indicating that he stands ready. His free hand rests on the hilt of his chainsword, eager to get to grips with the foe. He raises his hand, then removes his helm, nodding to the others, his tanned skin and dark features showing only determination and contempt for the xenos.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ivar
Ivar steps forwards, having changed into his scout armour for this mission. A camo-cloak and rifle supplement the armour, though careful examination of the blurred outline of the cloak, here in the well-lit halls, reveals the bulge created by his heavy bolter. One way or another, fire-support will not be a problem for his brothers.
"Ah' stand ready" he answers. There is no proud gesture from the aged space wolf, just an incline of the head. "Wher'ver they hide, ah'll find them".

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Conall stood when the Watch Captain approached, leaving his helmet on the chair nearby. At the Captain's question, he inclined his head slightly. "I."
Upon hearing the objectives, the Storm Warden began to make a list of things he would need to combat the Xenos filth. Weapons, ammunition, equipment ... but initially he would need information. Information would feed his knowledge. Knowledge would fuel his hatred. Hatred would crush the Xenos beneath his heel.

The Watch Captain looks at marine in turn, eyes narrowing on the Dark Angel slightly "Are you at peak effeciency Brother Namaan?", his eyes boring into you as he assesses the burnt flesh and the cracked armour that seems as much repair cement as ceramite...
"The Inquiistion has requested that we enter the ships hull in the bow area and flush out the leadership of the cult and destroy them. And everything that they have touched.

"Ah'm familiar with this sorta mission, brothers" Ivar announces, looking around at the assembled kill team, "Somethin' of a speciality o' mine, actually. If there's no objections, ah'll lead us for this one".
Should be fine with what I have already, he thinks, going over his equipment, Get in, cut off the head and cause as much damage as I can when I leave. Just like old times, no need for anything fancy.
SpoilerAssuming no objections, Hati will be the leader for this mission. He's got the best stats for it, as far as I know.Last edited by Tome; 2012-01-06 at 03:50 PM.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
As the kill team garb themselves with weapons and armour to prepare to destroy the xeno they can begin to vaguely hear alarms as the sanctioning and the scanning begin for the homo sapiens on board. For the homo Astartes it was a differet manner.
The Kill Team marched through the ship to the forward deployment point, the waves of humanity gathering to view these near Gods walking by, each marine towering some 3ft above each of the crew bearing weapons that could anhiliate them with ease...

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ivar
"We'll go in through the torpedo tubes where tha' Magus was encountered" the Wolf Scout explains in High Gothic as the Kill Team proceeds to the deployment zone, "once there, ah'll pick up it's trail and we'll take the fight to it. When we go in, ah'll take point and feed you data over tha' vox. If we can, ah'd like to avoid alertin' tha' xenos to our presence 'till we've taken out at least one of tha' targets, so we'll be going in quiet. Once we've engaged, we'll drop stealth and move directly to tha' next target. After they're both down, we'll begin the purge of the rest of the scum".
He comes to a halt in front of the bulkheads sealing the torpedo bays, gesturing to a nearby adept for them to be opened. "Any questions brothers?".
SpoilerIvar's going to be scouting a little ahead of the rest of the Kill Team. Far enough, at least, that they won't give him away. He'll be staying hidden and using his tracking skills to try and find the most likely location of the Magus and/or Patriarch. If he can find a lone target, he'll try and snipe them and use his Omophagea implant to get some information.
If possible, he'll try and lead the team around anything he encounters in order to preserve as much stealth as possible.
Obviously, he'll be in Solo Mode in order to use Wolf Senses.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ardelan, still lacking his helmet, nods his head.
"Just one suggestion, Brother Ivar, if that is acceptable?"
Assuming that Ivar gives consent to the Angel Encarmine to give tactical advice, he states the following,
"I would recommend that we utilise the fact that we are on a starship to our advantage. The fact that the vessel has multiple decks should mean that we will have the opportunity to attack from above, giving us numerous offensive and defensive advantages."

"Wouldn't have asked if ah' didn't mean it brother" Ivar replies with a shrug of his shoulders, "what're you thinking?".
He considers Ardelan's suggestion for a moment, before nodding. "It's a good idea" he acknowledges, "partic'ly with so many of us using jump packs. When we move ta' engage, we'll have to keep it in mind". The space wolf casts an expectant eye over the rest of the kill team, looking for any further suggestions or if he should begin the hunt.Last edited by Tome; 2012-01-07 at 12:44 PM.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ooh, did you think you could get away from me that easily? Another fully armored Deathwatch marine says as he makes his approach to the group. He is holding a missile launcher, which appears out of place with the jump back on his back. Though this seems to work in tandem with the two chainswords held onto both his sides. Ardelan may recognize this as the preferred fighting style of a particular Assault Marine he is certain he recognizes the voice of.

Ivar
"Brother Emascus" Ivar greets, "fin'ly finished washing yer hair?". His tone is friendly, his words clearly in jest. "Good ta' have you with us anyway. Brother Ardelan can fill you in as we move" he calls back as he steps past the bulkhead, vanishing into the gloom.
Moving ahead of his battle-brothers, trusting them to follow, Ivar relaxes into his element. Camo-cloak and stummers rendering him virtually undetectable, he moves ahead quickly and quietly, though careful not to draw too far ahead, senses sharp and alert for traces of the xeno infestation. A vox channel lingers open, ready to relay anything he sees back to the rest of the kill team.
SpoilerAs stated before, Ivar's moving a little bit ahead of the group, doing his scout thing.
He's heading for the area the acolytes encountered the Magus in, hoping to pick up the trail there.Last edited by Tome; 2012-01-07 at 05:36 PM.

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
The Deathwatch move out as one, 6 armoured killers, each easily worth an entire regiment of guardsmen each with centuries of of combat experience between them.
The guards stationed around the abandonded torpedo tube wordlessly open up the sealed off section for the Astartes without even consulting the chain of command, such is the reputation that the Black Armoured marines possess.
The torpedo tube hasn't been touched save for the pict recorders and grey light sensors near the metallic tear in the tube. The blood stains from the dead mutants still staining the cold metalwork. Dropping into the dim unlit crawlspaces is difficult for the hulking marines and only the Wolf scout is able to move anything approaching silently, the others scraping their armoured forms of the walls and sending showers of sparks flying as the touch unprotected conduits or old power vessels.
Wordlessly they follow their leader through the underground maze, his sense of smell and genetically enhanced senses guiding him through the same route taken by the acolytes only a day or so earlier. The blood and sweat still thick in the air to his lupine nose.
30 minutes of painstaking movement later leads to the wolf scout to a blast damaged shaft. A massive spray of blood and a disacarded and still gloved left hand all the remains of one of the enforcers. Twisted metal and shattered ladder the way down onto what appears to be a rickety metal walkway opening up into a vast empty space. At the base, in the heart of the blast damage the shredded remains of another enforcer and the strange hunched exoskeletal remains of one of the xenos. The acidic stench of it almost burning Ivar's nose. Even with his senses he couldn't hear anything nearby save for the occasional grinding metal as his Battle Brother slowly moved up to his position...

Basically you're at the top of the stairs that lead down to where you were ambushed as DH acolytes...

Re: The Sin of Pride - Deathwatch
Ivar
"Ah've reached the site of the main encounter" Ivar voxes to his brothers, "moving into tha' bay. Watch when you follow, tha' ladder's wrecked - explosive damage - and tha' walkway below is unstable".
Seeing no live xenos from his vantage point, Ivar jumps down past the ruined ladder. The instant his feet meet the walkway, his rifle is up as he sweeps it across the room. He cycles through possible entry points and hiding spots, peering down the scope of his rifle into each one.
Assuming nothing is found:
With no threats found, Ivar relaxes. Slightly. "Room clear" he relays, "move in. We'll check the xenos remains, then start tracking them back to their lair". Taking his own advice about the walkway, the scout moves for the ladders. No sense in lingering when a battle-brother in ceramite might well be heavy enough to bring the unstable structure down.
Waiting for the other Astartes to catch up, he begins to trace the routes the various traitors and xenos entered the room by, looking to pick up the trail to lead them back to their nest.
