Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
It's fine. Our goal is not to weed out all aspects of human sexuality from our advertising, and objectively speaking, she is fully dressed in a ruffled skirt. I think every human member of the OOTS has shown more skin than that at one time or another. Is the framing fairly Male Gaze-y? Absolutely. And you can take that into account when choosing whether or not to patronize the advertiser. But as I've said many times in this thread, we're not here to police the internet.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
1.) Date and time ad was visible: 9:20 pm EST/GMT-5
2.) Region (Pick one: USA, Canada, Europe, or Rest of the World): USA
3.) Location of ad (Top box or bottom box): Top box
4.) Brief description of objectionable content (including a name or other identifying characteristic): It's an ad for a website called www.speeddate.com, with a "you've got 1 chat request" in facebook-type text and imagery. Not sure if it's something intended to be on here, but it was jarring to see a chatbot ad on here.Last edited by Forrestfire; 2013-11-14 at 09:25 PM.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
Guys, having four posts about the same ad is kinda overkill isn't it?
It's gone now, btw

If, for some reason this ad is not against the rules, it is a bit too pervy in my book.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
I just saw it and blocked it myself before even coming to this thread.
No, you can't advertise your rape how-to guide on my website, thanks. Ugh.
EDIT: Though to be fair, the ad banner did say is should be banned. That was very thoughtful of them to point it out.Rich Burlew

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
Just putting this in for review, since I'm not sure how closely forum rules against prohibited subjects apply to ad content, in this case religion.
1.) Date and time ad was visible: 1/4/14 5:00 am Pacific
2.) Region: USA
3.) Location of ad (Top box or bottom box): Top
4.) Brief description of objectionable content: "Life can be Magick" ad on how to use magic and witchcraft to change your life.
EDIT: VV @Alabenson VV That's a browser behavior that can be triggered by the page simply opening a live form to be filled out (in this case an attempt to get your e-mail for her newsletter), so isn't really an indication of malware, just bad web design, although probably deliberately done.Last edited by Jimorian; 2014-01-04 at 08:15 PM.
I have my own TV show featuring local musicians performing live. YouTube page with full episodes and outtake clips here.
I also have another YouTube page with local live music clips I've filmed on my own.
Then there is my gaming YouTube page with Kerbal Space Program, Minecraft, and others.
Finally, I stream on Twitch, mostly Kerbal Space Program and Minecraft.

4.) Brief description of objectionable content: "iPhoneWINz. Win an iPhone 5s"
I attempted to check out the website myself, because sometimes stuff like this really DOES happen, you know? I stopped at the point where it required me to link my Facebook account to submit my entry. Likely either phishing or an attempt to spam with hijacked accounts. It's been a bit, GitP. If you're reading this, you're either digging through old stuff, or I've posted for the first time in forever.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
Variant of this ad also visible in Rest of the World (in my case, Australia:)
1.) Date and time ad was visible: 5.1.2014, 04:11 gmt +11
2.) Region (Pick one: USA, Canada, Europe, or Rest of the World): Rest of the World
3.) Location of ad (Top box or bottom box): Bottom
4.) Brief description of objectionable content (including a name or other identifying characteristic): Mine says "Build your town and win real CA$H" with a picture of a computer-game town in 2 1/2D. I'm just as iffy about it as the above poster - I suspect it's a scam, but I'll leave that to others to decide.
Edit: Just noticed the mouseover for the ad says "Win Real Gold Playing This Browser Game". Definitely thinking this is either a scam or a malicious site.Last edited by theangelJean; 2014-01-04 at 01:28 PM.
I'm pretty much the opposite of concise. If I fail to get to the point, please ask me and I'm happy to (attempt to) clarify.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
1.) Date and time ad was visible: 5:52 pm, Eastern Standard Time
2.) Region (Pick one: USA, Canada, Europe, or Rest of the World): USA
3.) Location of ad (Top box or bottom box): Top
4.) Brief description of objectionable content (including a name or other identifying characteristic): "Life Can Be Magick", advertising a book claiming to teach real magic. The content of the website itself (which I find a little questionable) aside, when I clicked to close the link it opened a popup asking me if I was sure I wanted to leave the page, which is frequently a sign that the website is harboring malware. If brute force isn't working, that just means you're not using enough of it.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
This same advertisement was visible at:
Date and time: 2139 EST
Region: USA
Location: top
description: "Life can be magick : Health money love power fame fortune. Learn magick now" . Links to this site .
It is objectionable because 1) As lessons in real-life magic, it is religious and therefore out of forum scope.
2) While it may not be a scam per se, I find it hard to believe that anyone purchasing the book is going to get what they want out of it. Unless one of the 'money-making spells' is : "Spell to get money: Write a book promising people the secret of making wealth."
3) Sticking in a pretentious 'k' on the end, which in the sight of many real-life practitioners I know is a sure sign of ... well, forum rules prohibit, but it's frequently indicative of style over substance.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
To add to the previous two posts, this particular ad has been the only ad in the top position for the last five hours or so (US, CST). When clicking the link it takes you to a YouTube link and when attempting to close the page, it has a "are you sure" pop-up.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
Reporting an ad that seems designed to be sexually explicit, along with strongly implied profanity:
1.) Date and time ad was visible: 1-5-14, 11:40 am
2.) Region: USA
3.) Location of ad (Top box or bottom box): Top
4.) Brief description of objectionable content: A rough sketch of two figures in what seems to be an explicit pose, with text that reinforces the impression using an obviously vulgar word, barely masked by "@+%" for key letters but clearly intended to be read as profanity.

I didn't see the Run Freak Run ad, but I have seen the comic. A little dark, But not pornographic. Or at least not the first several pages and a dozen of so "random" pages.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
I'll let The Giant weigh in on the obfuscated swearing and whether that's allowed in the advertisements, but I thought I should mention that I don't see what you're seeing.
I only saw it briefly and it's not the top bidder currently so I can't double check, but to me it seemed more like someone either being pinned or assisted (i.e. not sexual), and the phrase means that "those gosh darn annoying witches are absolutely everywhere" (i.e. also not sexual).

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
That's what it looked like initially to me, and I was a little annoyed to find that after checking here as I habitually do, the picture had flipped like one of those inkblot diagrams. So I'm not sure whether or not it was deliberately intended to be a subtle bit of "haha, we totally didn't mean that thing that a lot of you would have thought, isn't that funny?" Either way, it's not super-great.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
Well... with the text being "Witches f@+%ing everywhere" it's a little more obvious. I know I wouldn't want to browse on public computers with said advert because of the swearing more than the sitting on crotches.

Re: Report Inappropriate Ads Here
It is a comic (which includes swearing, yes) about a witch hunter. The line break is what changes the sentence structure. Given context, Rawhide is right.
