I have to say that the milk thing was probably my favorite visual gag in the entire series so far. Certainly other episodes had more humorous moments but that simple little gag cemented DisQord as forever a boss in my mind.

My opinion of this episode is similar to my opinion of the first episode of this season: The main plot isn't that great, but the characters and jokes make up for it. Some particular thoughts below:
*It still felt a little rushed, but nowhere near the level of the first part.
*Gamerlord to Luna, where are you?
*George Lucas called, he wants his ending back. And he wants his Force Choke back as well
*Who else wants to see an episode where Spike needs to recruit a temporary group of Elements after the girls get captured now?
*I wonder what sort of villains we will be seeing next, if we do see anymore...
*Now that I have seen both episodes, I feel Discord is more like Sheogorath then Q. Anyone else?

I agree with the consensus: it did feel rushed. On the other hand, just like the first episode, once I got into it, I warmed up to it a lot.

Twilight's discording was actually pretty sad...

Poor sick Spike made me sad; I felt his pain.

I'm ok with the unicorn magic helping them recover, because it was at least implied that Twilight was helping them recall the good times, rather than just 'fixing' them.

Balloon chase scene: Awesome! When Pinkie and Rarity got pulled out, I felt a genuine sense of danger, which was good.

Discord drinking milk was great; did anyone else notice that the glass filled from the top down?

Am I the only one that kind of liked the Star Wars reference? It was things like that that got me into the show in the first place...

A little abrupt at the end, I'd like to have seen Discord be something other than a pure villain.

Awesome gags and lines, I loved the buffalo ballerinas and the exploding milk.

Yes, and he didn't drink the milk. He drank the glass.

And I didn't mind the Star Wars-esque ending, and didn't really make a connection between the two when watching it. It was an appropriately fitting ending though, which is why I liked it.

Although looking back at the S1e2 ending next to the S2e2 ending, I can now see the Star Wars references there.

I have had such a situation happen, I still suffer from memories of Sir Stabhappy the Brave's.....antics. My brain went to red alert the moment I noticed his character's portrait was that of a crudely drawn stick figure caving in a goblin's skull. This was supposedly a Good Human Cleric of Pelor. The player personally wasn't that bad, he just went a little overboard with that particular character's rampage antics.
Fun fact:I just read the cast page, RD is Chaotic Evil.

I"ll just echo what everyone else said: character gags were good, pacing was a bit rushed, Y U NO LUNA, Twilight solving a problem with magic should have been satisfying but instead felt cheap. Applejack's worked the best because we got to see how she reacted to realizing what she had done, followed by Rarity's for the "never again" joke (although I was expecting a callback to CMChronicles).

As for the ending, I for one loved it. Mostly because it played it to the hilt, copying the setting, musical tone, and all the little details like camera angles and character glances. I feel a little more justified in thinking S1E2's ending was a parody of Episode 1's ending.

I enjoyed it. Aside from Twilight restoring her friends sans Rainbow Dash, the pacing was much better than in episode 1 (though in the end I think it would've been better as a three parter). I'd have liked there to be a more specific method of restoring the cast to normal than just "Twilight casts a spell" honestly, but this worked okay in that regard.

Plenty of great moments with the main cast, both discord-ed and regular. I expect we'll get a few new memes out of this episode.

Discord was friggin' awesome. I loved all the random crazy stuff he had going on, especially the incident at the end with his glass of chocolate milk. And Big Mac and Granny Smith. That's the kind of zany I love seeing out of these embodiment of chaos types. I'm gonna miss him.

I really enjoyed it. The jokes kept on coming and I found myself physically laughing during many of the parts, which is a rarity (get it, see what I did there? ) for me.

My only problem was I disliked Discord's end. I was hoping the end would be something like an aesop on how too much order or too much chaos can be bad, but a balance of the two is necessary.

Is that something wrong with my writing style or just you don't like it or jus you were too tired for sarcastic omniscient narrator-fail?[/unprovokedparanoia]

I think it was mainly that I was half asleep at that point. In a bit I'm gonna try and go through it again. Not in a reading mood at the moment, plus I feel the need to harass Ronin about his birthday.

Dunno. Draconequus is a really cool spelling though; my tv put it at Draconaquis.
I suspect it's an acknowledgement of him having a different creature type, in the same way there was only one Minotaur, but minotaur was it's species descriptor.

It's possible Celestial and Luna only knew his name because they were same tier, and interacted with him. Having lung with the minotaur, rather than discussing it as an object.

I dunno, if memory serves, the Minotaur was the child of the wife of King Minos of Crete. It wasn't so much its species descriptor as its father's.

That first comic is totally awesome. Just gotta say that.

Oh gods yes. It's hilarious because Spike actually makes a decent replacement Dash considering how loyal he is to Twilight despite getting knocked around all the time.

Alternatively, Spike throws a fit about feeling unappreciated and runs off to assemble his own Elements of Harmony just to show he can be as good as Twilight. Or something like that. Then he gets Trixie for the Element of Magic and some other ponies for the rest. Hmmm... Someone needs to write a fanfic for this now.

Ok, reread [some] of it, here are some thoughts:

One, a mare with a blue coat and a long, vibrantly purple mane, was in fact the shipping queen, the near-goddess known to some as Lixie.

This sentence just seems to jumbled together to me.

“One, a mare with a blue coat and a long, vibrant purple mane, was in fact the shipping queen, the near-goddess known to some as Lixie.”

“Amongst them was demi-goddess Lixie, queen of shipping. She was a mare with a blue coat and a long, vibrant purple mane.”

Remember a day deep in February, when three of the family, still awake at this hour-a dizzying eight-am in the morning-watch the fourth as she timidly sneaks up to a mailpony’s door.

The am isn’t needed, since you already mention the fact that it is in the morning.

Feels disjointed. It comes from one thought to the next. If you are going for the omniscient narrator bringing thoughts to mind, instead of “remember,” perhaps use “think.”

“Think of a day deep in the icy grip of February. Three of the family, still awake at this hour, a dizzying eight in the morning, watch the fourth as she sneaks up to the mailpony’s door.”

Something I’ve noticed from just these two excerpts. You use a good number of adverbs. “Vibrantly”, “timidly” and so on. As I’ve told Esper and Grif, try to cut down on these.

For example, in the more recent quote, you say that she is “timidly sneaking up to a door”. Do we really need the “timidly” there to get that? We know she is sneaking, and we know that the rest of the family is watching her – giving her the morale support, and we also know from earlier in the story and this exact sentence that in terms of time of day, she is well out of her comfort zone.

Long story short, show, don’t tell. Adverbs are like salt and spices, you sprinkle it on and all is well, you empty the container and you end up with a mess.

Ok, heading out to hang with Ronin. I will say this, with some actual sleep under my belt I find myself getting interested in this. I see potential, but a bit of a lack of training. With everything, practice will straighten out those rough edges. Only really read up to the point I quoted, will finish the rest later.
