Outside Trog's- Duel

The ranger was waiting for just that. He parries the thrust with surprising speed, ducking to the right to avoid any follow up attack from Despair's shield, and attempts to drive the enchanted blade into Despair's shoulder. All the while, blood drips from the bullet-hole in his side, the warrior's constant moving preventing the healing spell from sealing up the wound.

Riv's Hamlet

Well, either choice of attire could be a valid one. Hamlet, which by the way is the actual name of the village, isn't precisely covered in snow, but it is quite cold year round. Furthermore, the mountains nearby are indeed covered in snow and ice, so really, cold-weather gear wouldn't be that out of place. Well, no more out of place than Warsh is already. Strangers rarely venture to Hamlet, other than the occasional merchant caravan.

Hamlet is a small town, but one that's obviously been through considerable trouble. The western edge of the town is full of burnt out buildings, scorched rubble and ruins, while a tall stone wall topped with razor wire. Depending on whether Warsh chose to scout out the town during the day or not, he might see a few villagers going about their business, but either way, he'll definitely see the guardsmen. There's four of them now, as the guard has been doubled due to the prior incident, all wearing full body armor, helmets, face-obscuring visors, and wielding guass rifles. Two stay at the broken gate at all times, the other two patrolling the walls, making a complete circuit every five minutes.

Unfortunately for Kate, this isn't allowed, as when she tried to roll over Harnel puts more of his weight on her head, to prevent her from moving. Then he swiftly brings his leg up, and then back down, stomping on her head.

"Surrender." From the tone of his voice, he doesn't seem to be enjoying this. That said, it's unlikely he'll stop at all.

Klenkh takes off to Shed 8!
He finds exactly what he saw last time: Tools such a hammers, screwdrivers, nails, wrenches, bolts, locks, broken power tools, an old generator, a couple canisters of gas for the old generator, wood, some sheet metal, broken welding equipment, some empty gas containers, and duct tape!
Every complex needs a repair place...
Klenkh put the nails, a couple hammers, a screwdriver, the duct tape, and a wrench!

"You should surrender Cessie." Ilpholin tells her.
I'm pretty sure that's not only not what she expected to hear, but also not what she wanted to hear.

"What?! No, I'm not going to surrender Ilpholin, you can't trust that monster, whatever she's saying to you." The Cessie elemental replies firmly.

Kate appears to be unconscious. Odd. Wouldn't she be tougher than that?

Actually, Harnel now has a moment to look at their comparative physiques. Kate gained a lot of muscle mass, but she is still about average (maybe a bit below average) build for a half-dragon. Harnel, on the other hand, has a LOT of muscle.

Even if he was a human and she was a half-dragon, he might still be stronger than her.

Harnel thinks at Libra, "Libra, Kate can't fight any longer. I'm the victor. Change her back." He lets out a sigh of relief. hopefully he didn't cause any lasting damage to her when he stomped on her head. He shouldn't have, but then he didn't expect her to get knocked unconscious so easily either.

"To protect the nexus Ilpholin, I fail to see what this have to do with this however? Is this about the wish?" Cessie asks in turn.

"Hrm... fair enough." Libra's voice can be heard. "You won I guess, it was a rather fun fight though wasn't it huh?"

Kate will then return to her normal form and state of mind.

Harnel will reach into a pouch on the back of his waist, drawing out a vial of silvery liquid. Bringing the now human Kate up, He'll put the potion to her mouth to allow her to drink. It's a moderately powerful potion that makes allows recovery over time, but also forces things back into the position they need to be in. If there's a broken bone, for example, it won't heal wrong, as the potion will force the bones back into place. it probably won't be necessary here, but it merits mentioning.

Assuming the concussion she received was the only thing keeping Kate out, she should probably wake up.

What versus Quinn

The lightning ball hits What right in his blood-stained black suit! Hooray! There's no way he-

...Oh gods, he's on fire now. And still coming after Quinn! She'd better move fast, because now What is charging right at her. In fact, he'd started charging before he was hit by the lightning, and if anything the blast has just made his charge all the more critical to him. While there hasn't been any sort of promise that killing Quinn will keep What from being destroyed, I don't think he even needs one. He's just going to charge, regardless of what might happen, and try to bash Quinn's skull with the terrible power of Mjolnir.

Quinn, for her part, waits until the very last second, when What is already swinging -

- and then dives away, rolling clear!

She's hoping he'll be offbalance and knock himself out of his gourd!

"No. This is about THIS." Ilpholin waves with her free hand behind her whip shield to indicate the arena.

"A creature who puts people to fights to death for fun. A person who would threaten your children to do it. You put it most aptly. A monster. A serious threat."

"Don't think for a second that this would stop with this one scenario. Oh no. This will happen time and time again until someone puts a stop to it. Maybe to you, maybe to someone else. And we've been granted a chance to take her out right now. But only if Harnel fights her."

Harnel smiles, looking somewhat rueful, "It's not your fault. Mind telling me what was going through your head though? You seemed all kinds of determined."

"She wouldn't allow Harnel to kill her Ilpholin, this is just another sick play for her. Don't you see? This 'final battle' is nothing but a game. If he wins, he's going to let us go free. But that's it. She isn't going to die. She wouldn't allow it, it would ruin her 'fun'." Cessie counters.

"If she does grant wishes however, we, I could wish her away."

"Because she'll grant such a wish instead? I think the chances of that are FAR less likely. No. Beings like this want to pretend they're invincible, but this is really our best chance. You have to trust Harnel on this. You have to trust me on this." Ilpholin drops a hint and hopes Cessie will catch on.

"Er..."

She thinks a bit.

"I don't know. At first I just thought "I need to beat Harnel," and I didn't really have time to think too much except about the battle."

She shakes her head. "I should have thought harder about that. But, once the adrenaline started going..."

"I'm sorry. I really am. Are you hurt any?"

Harnel will attempt to lift Kate up to set her on her feet, "It's fine. I've been in worse fights, and you barely did anything to me. Chipped a scale on my left arm, but nothing else. I'm glad I was able to end it before anything got too bad. I put in a couple good blows, though; are you alright, or is the potion no taking effect?" it should. They outright healed a gash in Harnel's arm once.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I don't think you hit me too bad... except for the stomp. That was totally justified, I was faking. I-"

Kate turns pale and puts her hands over her mouth.

"I need to sit down. Oh, oh my. I need to sit down."

And sit she does. She seems... scared? Ashamed? Maybe a little nauseous?

Okay... just what are you up to Ilpholin? Cessie asks over a private mental link as the elemental shakes it's head. "I don't think so."

"What?" Harnel asks, "What were you going to say?" He certainly won't stop her from laying down. It's probably a good idea she does so.

A complete circuit every five minutes, eh? That's no good. That doesn't leave much time for Warsh to complete the mission if he were to take the risk of knocking out one of the guardsmen. Hmm. Those walls don't look too safe to scale either. Even if it weren't only late afternoon at this time, elevating oneself that high off of the ground would be rather conspicuous. Let's see here. It would appear as though there is only one way inside: through the front gate. Might as well give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen. Warsh removes all but one of his pistols from his pack and stashes them underneath some natural foliage, if any, doing his best not to disturb the vegetation itself. He'll then strap his (one) 9mm pistol to his side, making no effort to conceal it before attempting to boldly approach the village.

Warsh has a plan. It might not work, but it's better than nothing.

"Shoot you. I was going to shoot you. It was only supposed to be an emergency weapon. A thing to protect me from crazy muggers or hungry things. And I was going to shoot you. Why was I going to shoot you? Why? So stupid. Couldn't I think? Couldn't I think? I was going to shoot you. Oh... oh, I was going to SHOOT you."

Kate is rolled up into a little ball. She is really not happy about this.
