They apparently rename everything to generic terms. When the name is a reference to something specific, it gets changed.

That's why it's only possibly suicidal. Retardant doesn't necessarily mean it will hold out forever, not to mention that all that fire seemed to have overheated his brain for a few moments there...

But then again this is Dan McNinja. The fire might be an indefinite non threat due to the sheer force of his moustache.

    1. Grammar .
    a. the omission from a sentence or other construction of one or more words that would complete or clarify the construction, as the omission of who are, while I am, or while we are from I like to interview people sitting down.
    b. the omission of one or more items from a construction in order to avoid repeating the identical or equivalent items that are in a preceding or following construction, as the omission of been to Paris from the second clause of I've been to Paris, but they haven't.
    2. Printing . a mark or marks as ——, …, or * * *, to indicate an omission or suppression of letters or words.

So how many dots is appropriate before it stops being an ellipsis and starts being the textual representation of "talking...really...slowly...with...long...pauses. ..in...between...the...words..."?

I'm the first to admit that I'm not an expert at at technical english but I was not aware that was actually a rule of grammar.

He was making a post complaining of the grammar mistakes and his own post was a big mess of misused punctuation. Hence the irony.

Smilies aren't a rule of grammar either, but I don't think I've ever seen an ellipsis ever used to skip words or letters outside of a school paper or a quote box. On the internet, it almost always indicates a pause without breaking up a sentence.

    1. Words could be filled in the ... spots that would otherwise be censored on this forum.
    2. In novels, when someone is speaking and they speak slowly, it is sometimes characterized with either ellipsises or... or... I think my English isn't advanced enough to explain it in it.

My point here being that even the speech of a character who sucks at spelling is generally spelling-correct unless it is to denote an accent.

If you want, I can go back to my post and edit all the periods to random non-alphanumerical non-punctuational signs.

Just adding to the consesus: Ellipses officially are used to indicate omission of words while keeping original meaning. However, online and in dialogue they are often inteded to suggest that the speaker is trailing off for some reason, normally from losing their train of thought or some similar interuption, before they then continue.
