Tygerlilly jumps on the hand crossbow and starts pulling the string and twanging it. Hey, I wonder if it would sling daggers? Wouldn't that be cool! Putting idea to practice, she pulls out one of her small daggers and sits down to check it out. Kalrin is wondering if that was the smartest thing to do...

Maritta edges into the room, the area does look familiar to her with all of her trips through here. She motions over to the side, (not the one the hobgoblin was trying to escape through), It's this one over here. It leads to the men, there are prisoners in the next room, but I don't know any of them, we're always kept apart.

Pearl is investigating the storeroom. ((PM sent))

After a few moments, Eben follows Pearl, intending to help her out if necessary. Which means that Hector won't be too far behind...

Making sure to stand behind Tigerlilly, Kalrin moves over to the door to the men and sees if he can peer through the keyhole or hear anything.

Kalrin cautiously goes around Tygerlilly and back to the previous room. He tries to peer through the keyhole and listen, but he doesn't hear or see much.

Tygerlilly isn't having much luck with her experiment, but it is entertaining. The others are staying clear of her. Fortunately, she's pointing the daggers to the opposite wall...

    Pearl

    [My apologies for the lag.]

Pearl and Eben walk back to rejoin the others.

Gneiss nods. "I'll take a look real quick. Maritta says we want to go that way, though," nodding to the older woman and pointing toward the other door. Slipping his toolkit from its belt pouch, Gneiss heads into the storeroom and addresses the oaken doors, pausing to listen for movement on the other side and check for traps before essaying the lock itself.

Gneiss ventures into the storeroom and checks out the locked door. He listens, but doesn't hear anything from the other side. He checks the door for traps, doesn't find any and promptly picks the lock and carefully pries it open.

Inside it's dark and gloomy and smells like metal. He can see hundreds of shelves and weapon racks, most of them are empty. There are a few weapons randomly placed.

Back in the long room with the table and the dead enemies, Tygerlilly is poking around the door that Maritta indicated. She's gotten tired of experimenting with her new weapon and it's already vanished into the depths of her small backpack.

Shaking his head, Gneiss closes the door and replaces the lock before returning to Pearl and the others. "Armory, pretty well cleaned out," he says quietly. "Though if we get some more recruits, we could get a few of them partway kitted out." Moving to the door previously pointed out by Maritta, he takes a deep breath and slowly releases it. "Ready?"

The group readies themselves as Maritta stands near the rear. He's opening the next door and he does it with barely a sound. As the light shines in from this room, he can see that it is a huge but mostly featureless chamber. A pair of iron doors is on the far wall. The cavernous chamber stretches far off into darkness on either side, but the number of people crowded into it makes the room seem small. Sitting, standing or lying down, several hundred women fill the room. Most of them ignore the new light source, those closest to the door, turn listlessly and cringe away from the light. They can't see who might be coming through the doorway, and usually it is draconians...

By their clothing, Gneiss determines they are probably from the plains.

To clarify a few points of this, I'm going to paraphrase:

Gneiss looking into a large chamber that is completely dark, but with some light spilling in from our lantern in the open doorway. There are hundreds of women, presumably prisoners, in this large chamber. At the far side of the room, there are other big iron doors. Because we're backlit, the women can't yet tell who or what we are, but are reacting as if we were draconians.

    So far so good?

Yes, or they're unsure of who exactly is at the door, since it opened quietly, some of them don't care at all, they've been there so long.

Tygerlilly is at the rear of the group, she starts poking random people's thighs trying to get their attention, Hey! What's going on up there? I can't see a thing, everyone is in the way! Can we get a move on? Are we going in? Or running somewhere else?

The women in the room have almost decided that Gneiss must be a gully dwarf. He isn't tall enough to be a draconian, or a human like themselves, but who is that crowding in behind him? They aren't quite willing to find out yet.

    Pearl

Pearl blanched at the extra load. How many people could they fit in those tunnels behind them? How many could they scrounge food for in the war-ravaged lands? The sheer mass of problems threatened to overwhelm even the unflaggingly dedicated Pearl.

Glancing at her companions, Pearl murmured.

"Gneiss, Hector, Lorak - could you go check on the door at the other end of the hall? I need to know whether it can be picked or forced from this side. And for all of you - do you think we try to send these women back to the tunnels with the others, or ask them to wait here? Or...something else that I'm too tired to think of right now?"
