Taribo stares in shock for a few moments as the rats just pour through his masterful illusion... "They must be too stupid to realize that such a bunch of snakes would have killed them in a matter of seconds." he thinks before he gets a rude wake-up call from the first group on snakes chewing on his ankles.

Though you never said if I failed that save or not, I assume I failed it... all the diseases saves are in the range of 12-20 and I rolled a 11.
So should I roll it or will you roll it in secret?

Kulkov's mourning star comes crashing down with such force that it shatters the flagstone beneath the blow. The concusive force sends rats flying in all directions as they attempt to bring the Goliath down. A second blow sends them scurrying back to whatever dark holes they crawled out of, in search of more amicable prey.

Also, concerning the snakes, you suddenly realize that the rats are mostly, if not completely blind. The blast of light from your color spray was enough to give some of the deprived sensory organs a shock (thus only a partial effect on the first group), but the more muted and realistic snakes likely didn't register for them at all, as they lacked any real scent (the rat's primary sense in this case.)

@Mr.X: Lol... nasty. Yeah, I was getting a bit nervous about that. Not really that wise of me to loot the corpses just after learning the disease can get transmitted by touching... IRL player wisdom fail.

Also, I think its hard to make tough encounters for a level 1 party... its too random, if the party rolls well/the monsters poorly even a hard encounter will he easy... and the other way around.
So far all our encounters were pretty random. DarkMantle rolled max damage, almost dropped Kulkav. Friendly fire from Taribo and Malthos almost killed Frederic.

@MasterofFates: I think we'll wait with the heals for all of us (except for Kulkav) since we will recover 1 point of health during the night anyways, or what do you say?

He nods appreciatively at Malthos, as some of the scratches that cover his scaled hide are healed over. He then smiles and switches back to his glaive.

"If that is the worst that the remainder of this tomb has for us, I may refrain from destroying the area in our fights. Or at least try."

He then resumes his motion toward the next unopened door along the hall. No sense letting anything that might have heard the scuffle get the drop on them!

Returning along the lavishly decorated hall, the party returns to the nearest of the two Northward facing doors.

Opening the first, you are faced with a wide room. You immediately note a rise in the moisture in the air here... Odd, slightly luminescent fungi dot the area, growing in the cracks and spaces between the laid stones.

A massive carving dominates the Eastern wall. A monsterous, horrid creature, worshiped by droves of small people... Halflings, or Goblins, or perhaps Gnomes, it's difficult to tell... The artwork is clear and meticulous, but the creatures are so horridly mishapen that it is anyone's guess what sort of people they might once have been...

What they are doing, however, is quite clear... Rituals of worship, and sacrifice, battle for glory of their god, farming of the fungi you see growing about... Sergical removal of limbs and flesh, to feed and feralize the growing fungi... And themselves...

You are all suddenly uncomfortably aware of the dark, chunky splotches that spread from the cracks beneath the caps of the fungi.

Shadows cast by the flickering light of your torches lead you to note that many of the stones near the ceiling and have erroded almost completely away, leaving almost a honeycomb of holes a tunnels in the stone walls.

A door sits in the Northern wall.

The next room has deteriorated somewhat further. Many of the flagstones have fallen out of place and broken on the floor, and crumbled mortar and gravel litter the area.

The air here is a little warmer as well as being very moist. Perhaps there's a steam vent or hot spring in the area. The fungus is more prominent here as well. While none grow very large, they clearly enjoy the warmth and moisture.

There is an odd, distant, buzzing sound that breaks in and out, perhaps echoing through the erroded holes and breaks in the stone.

A further door sit's in the northern wall.

    For Malthos:

One, great, compound eye caves in under Taribo's blows, but the thing remains attached, unmindful of the terrible injury.

Suddenly, the hilt of a dagger sprouts from it's carapace... Twisting, you see Fredric, his eyes blindly rolled back, his head cocked at a strange angle, his hand extended in completion of a throw... The thing relinquishes it's grip, and falls sputtering to the floor, attempting to crawl off.

Fredric runs to Malthos' side, digging through his pack in search of the scroll he spoke of, as Kulkov stomps on the remaining insect...

"Making medicines has been part of my practice, but I'm afraid the practice of healing is not one of my specialties..."

Finding the scroll, he unrolls in and gives it a quick once-over...

    "What have we here...?"

How many insects are still alive? Just the one Kulkav is stomping right now? Since Taribo and Kulkav had the same intiative result I'll let him go first... then I can decide if I'll shoot the bug or not. ^^

Taribo looks at the huge wound in his belly and then at Fredric, surprised that the insect dropped so quickly until he notices the dagger in its back.

The one Kulkov is stomping is the last one. One escaped into the walls, and the other four were killed. (2 by Kulkov, 2 by malthos' snakes.)
