"Fredric, do you have a Read Magic prepared or should I cast it? We can't risk the Scroll failing." he says, clearly worried about the Shaman.

Re: [Group 2] The World's Largest Dungeon - IC
For Malthos':
SpoilerI presume this is a Bardic Scroll of 'Cure Light Wounds'. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
"I do, but this is bard magic... You should probably cast it. I enjoy poetry as much as the next man, but my recititions are likely not as apt as yours." Fredric replies, handing you the scroll.
For Taribo:
SpoilerDeciphering the scroll, you quickly realize that it does not contain a wizard's arcane formulae, or even a sorcerer's description of the ebb and flow of primal forces... Rather, it is a song... The words and syllables, all of some non-language, keyed to invoke feeling or emotion, rather than meaning. You'll need to sing it in order to activate the spell. The melody is laid out quite clearly.
SpoilerPlease make a Performace Check, DC: 16. You may make this check untrained at no penalty. Just add your Charisma Bonus to the roll.
For all:
SpoilerI am making a post in the OOC thread regarding a ruling concerning this situation, and others like it that may(but probably won't) arrise.Last edited by Mr. X; 2011-12-21 at 02:14 AM.

Re: [Group 2] The World's Largest Dungeon - IC
"Huh." he raises a eyebrow. What a strange way to describe magic. There was some of the flow he felt when he used arcane powers, but none of the feeling... the feeling of drawing from a unlimited, barely controllable power. No, this was methodical, in a way similar like a wizards way of describing magic and yet different, less dry... more melodic. A song. "I'll give it a try." he says before clearing his throat before he starts to sing the words described on the scroll.

Re: [Group 2] The World's Largest Dungeon - IC
Taribo begins the song, his voice unpracticed and tinny, but soon he finds his rhythm in the melody, continuing the verse with growing confidence, wavering only slightly from time to time on the strange verse. All who hear him feel the weight of the world eased slightly off their shoulders, and a dim energy surrounds Malthos as the gentle force of the song enfolds him, easing away what the slings and arrows of misfortune have rent upon him...
SpoilerWell done. Cast 'Cure Light Wounds': Malthos heal (1d8+1)[3]
Everyone, please note your Constitution losses, and the effective modifier on your Maximum Hit Points. (i.e. A wizard with a constitution 12 (1d4 hit die +1 constitution modifier= max Hp 5, who then loses 4 constitution (Con=8, -1 modifier) would now have max Hp of 3 (1d4 hit die, -1 constitution modifier.)
Additionally, All gain 300xp.
Malthos wounds close nicely, but he is still deathly pale... He lost a great deal of blood to the insects, and it will be several days, or even weeks, before he recovers fully. Kulkov doesn't look much better as he sags under his own great weight.Last edited by Mr. X; 2011-12-21 at 09:05 PM.

Re: [Group 2] The World's Largest Dungeon - IC
Malthos stands, shuddering from the toll of the insects' poison. I'll have to thank that bard if and when I return home. Many thanks, Taribo. Malthos replaces every spell he had at the ready for additional healing, using the most powerful for him and for Kulkav, and the weaker to help heal Taribo and Fredric.
Spoiler
Cure light wounds on self [ROLL]1d8+1[/ROL1L]
And two on Kulkav (2d8+2)[14]
Cast cure minor wounds on Fredric and Taribo twice each, healing 2hp for the both of them.
My magic is spent. I suggest we rest for the night. Exhausted, Malthos slumps to the floor, his skin still deathly pale.Originally Posted by inuyashaOriginally Posted by Jormengand

"Very well, I'll take the first watch then. Taribo, get some rest, I'll wake you in a few hours for your shift.". Fredric places himself against the wall in the Southwestern corner, resting on his pack, and takes out a stack of parchments, a vial of ink, and a quill pen, and begins noting down arcane formulations.
SpoilerSCRIBE SCROLLS: Mage Hand, Disrupt Undead, Read Magic, Magic Weapon. Expending prepurchased materials, and 4xp. (Note, Disrupt Undead is an added spell, I forgot I had a bonus 0 lv slot when I prepared spells previously, and so was one short.)

"Perhaps I could take the last shift? I have cast a few spells today... and if I don't sleep without interruption for 8 hours, I won't regain my magical strength by tomorrow."

Kulkav nods, his scales' sheen unaffected by the loss of blood, though he still is obviously not as vital as he was a bit ago.
"I should manage, now that the wounds those oversized mosquitoes stole my blood from have been closed."
Kulkav then braces the unexplored door with his sheer bulk, once more beginning his watch.

Re: [Group 2] The World's Largest Dungeon - IC
Here's Constitution Losses and damage for everyone, by round:
Spoiler
Surprise Round:
-Taribo:1con, 2damage
1st Round:
-Kulkv:3con, 3damage
-Malthos:6con, 2damage
2nd Round:
-Kulkov:1con, 1damage
-Malthos:4con
So all together, before healing and rest:
Taribo: -1 Con, 2 Damage
Kulkov: -4 Con, 4 Damage
Malthos: -10 Con, 2 Damage
Damage was dealt by the Insect's attaching to you(1damage), and by skewering in their probosci(1damage). Ripping out the probosci also resulted in 1damage each occasion(Kulkov did it twice).
EDIT: My apologies, that sort of got more and more convoluted as I wrote it, I hope it makes sense.
Cure Spells restore Hit Points, but not Constitution Losses, so note your Max HP totals as a result of Constitution loss(by new Constitution Modifier).
You shall regain 1 Constitution per rest period. (As #Raptor correctly pointe out.)Last edited by Mr. X; 2011-12-24 at 02:22 PM.

The hours of the watch pass. About three hours in, Fredric packs away his scrolls and wakes Kulkov before settling into his own rest.
For Kulkov:
SpoilerAbout an hour into your watch, you are disturbed by a distant ringing that echoes faintly through the dark halls... As though someone was repeatedly beating a gong.
The noise fades after a while.
A short time later, you hear a muffled cry, quickly stiffled, echoing through the warren of holes and spaces where the mortar has decayed, stones fallen away, and the vermin have made their own homes.
It seems to come through the walls to the East, but it's difficult to say for certain.Last edited by Mr. X; 2011-12-24 at 07:51 PM.

Kulkav stares at the walls to the east, before rushing to them, drawing out his morningstar. Then, with a wide windup and a roar of fury, he smashes his titanic bludgeon into the decayed, vermin-infested walls, seemingly seeking to one-up his attacks against the rat swarm, and break through the partition entirely.

Re: [Group 2] The World's Largest Dungeon - IC
In response Kulkavs to first few strikes Taribo rolls around in his sleeping sack, murmuring "No... no... not the molepeople. They are coming to get us..." while pushing his hands against the sleeping sacks inside in a inefficient struggle. After a few more strikes, he jerks up, leaping out of his sleeping back like a mad rabbit. He stands confused, looking at the ground for a short moment as if he were still expecting his nightmare to become real, then he notices the real source of the noise.

It doesn't take long for Kulkov to reduce the partition to rubble, opening a tight passage into the room beyond.
The room is vacant, and as deteriorated as the one you just came from.

Kulkov rushes forward, the rest of the party following behind, bursting through the door with a single massive blow, and emerges into a long, narrow hallway. Down to the south, a Dwarf scrambles away from the southern door, coming up short as he sees you...
When the door behind him explodes off it's hinges, ringing like a gong, and sailing down the hall with lethal force, caved in and crumpled like so much tin foil, clipping the dwarf as he tries to flatten himself against the wall, and sending him sprawling on the floor tearing a large gash across his back.
The stench of rotted flesh fills the air, and some horrid, dead, creature fills the frame the door burst from.

Re: [Group 2] The World's Largest Dungeon - IC
Of all the spirits of the world, undead were probably Malthos's least favorite. They smell, they're absolutely hideous, and they're potentially deadly if you let them come near you.
Rushing before his companions, Malthos mutters a word of prayer, his second-to-last spell remaining, for the success of this battle, and pulls one of the daggers that cross his (currently bare) chest from it's sheath.
Spoiler
Draw one of his daggers as a move action, bless as standard action.
Note to everyone: Remember that our characters are probably not wearing their armor at present, and any weapons will have to be drawn. Also, be sure to remember the bonus from my bless spell.Originally Posted by inuyashaOriginally Posted by Jormengand
