I Wanna Be That Guy, an infamously hard video game.

He's from a game called 'I want to be the Guy'. Essentially, he has to go through a series of ridiculously hard levels trying to do so, fighting a whole lot of over-powered bosses, when so much as brushing against anything will instantly kill him.
He's not a very good character other then exhibiting that some people have a desperate need to succeed from a meta perspective, but Colesign likes putting in silly references (so do I), and Dracula Castle needs some filler.

The year is 2011, and the forced merging of two worlds has caused profound changes in society. Bankers attempt to use oracles for tips from the future; the citizen status of Changelings has become a national debate. The Unseelie Accords have been revised heavily, and now has every First and Second World country as a signatory. Magic is, if not outright encouraged, is now tolerated as part of society...despite the better efforts of various organizations.

In the City of Chicago, crime has taken to magic wholeheartedly; blasting rods can now be found alongside machine pistols, potions alongside narcotics. To counter the surge of mystic crime, organized and otherwise, the Mayor has reformed the Special Investigations Unit of the CPD, authorizing them to deal with the strange, bizarre and metaphysical cases that have flummoxed the more traditional departments.

The system is actually really easy to pick up provided you aren't playing a magician. Then it's slightly more complicated, but I can explain the rules, etc. to you via PM easily enough.

Yes I am, but I'm still working on a concept, and still haven't much idea of the system.

Okay. So, the system has three main components: Skills, Aspects, and Stunts/Powers.

Dice are rolled 4d6; 1-2 is -1, 3-4 is 0, and 5-6 is +1.

Skills: You have 35 skill points from the list above, and each point of bonus costs 1 point (start at +0) but you can't have more skills in a higher bonus than the skills in a lower bonus. So you can't, for example, have 3 +2 skills and 2 +1 skills.

You start out with 10 refresh(+2 if you don't have any supernatural powers). By spending 1 refresh permanently, you can create a stunt with a catchy name, which gives you:

• A new way to use a skill in a different circumstance. Example: "Way of the Gunslinger" - use Guns in place of Alertness for initiative when your first action is to attack with guns
• Gain a +2 to a specific application of a non-attack or defense use of a single skill. Example: "Paranoia Pays Off" - Gain +2 to Alertness for Initiative
• Gain +1 to an attack under a specific circumstance. Example: "Inverse Ninjitsu" - Gain +1 on attacks with Fists when personally outnumbered in a fight.
• Gain +2 to an attack's result if successful under a specific circumstance. Example "Aim for the Weak Point" - Gain +2 to your Gun's Weapon Rating when you hit an armored opponent.
• Gain 2 expendible 2-shift effects (mild consequences) or a persistent 1-shift effect(Armor: 1) against certain types of things. Example "Thick Skin" - Gain Armor: 1 against blunt attacks
• Reduce the time increment needed to do a specific task by 2 Example: "Ear to the Wall" - When searching for information, reduce the time needed for a Contacts roll by 2 increments.
• Combine any of the "2" effects for 2 "1-shift" effects.

Note that you cannot combine stunts so that if circumstances can give you more than one stunt's bonus to the same roll, you merely take the highest bonus.


Aspects: Everybody has a High Concept (their character in Five Words or Less) and a Trouble (their main problem). Their backstory consists of 3 Phases (Background, Rising Conflict, First Adventure), which gives them 3 more Aspects. Each Aspect is a short phrase describing something about your character, from a relationship to an attitude to one of their catchphrases. When you are in a circumstance where the aspect is relevant, you can spend a fate point to "invoke" it, giving you either a +2 bonus or a reroll. Alternatively, I can "compel" the aspect to force you to act to your character's detrament and in return, you receive a fate point.

You start out with 10 refresh, which is reduced by the number of Powers and Stunts you have. For every point of refresh that you don't spend on powers/stunts, you get a fate point, and every time refresh is called for (rest and relaxation), you "default" to that minimum amount of refresh-stunts.

Okay. Just note that the First Adventure should only be one third of the way completed, and should ideally end on a cliff-hanger.

This is because once a party is chosen, everybody exchanges their adventure, and writes their character into another person's adventure for another third, then repeats once more, for a total of 5 Phase Aspects.
