Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
I wish I could, but I just don't have the resources to spare at the moment.
In other news, you can turn off most of the Artificial Difficulty which GregTech brings in the config settings and simply bask in being able to use Rubies in Energy Crystals and other alternative recipes which you might find easier.
I'm trying out a custom setup with DirePack + Gregtech, removing Steve's Carts (which I never use) and Factorization (which I also never use), and adding in Simple Guns mod (since I refuse to settle for a bow when I'm decked out in nano-fiber armor).SpoilerQuite possibly, the best rebuttal I have ever witnessed.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
No. Most of the weapons from Balkon's are quite silly. I want to be able to make myself an actual handgun, not just a blunderbuss or musket. If I can make a LAZOR, I should be able to craft myself a decent gun.
Also, I have a blog concerning modded minecraft, and some getting started guides for most of the big mods. Still a work in progress, of course, but it's at least got IC2, TE, BC, RP2, and a couple others. It also has some other guides, quicktips, and will eventually have config packs.Last edited by ShneekeyTheLost; 2013-01-25 at 09:50 AM.

No one has mentioned that Iskandar has started posting videos again. Two as of this post, Episode 20 and Episode 21. He's using the Feed the Beast mod, which is nice, cause for some reason I've never been able to catch the big name LP'ers starting steps.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
Eh, Factorization is worth it for the barrels alone. Mass storage of common stuff is always useful.
Edit: Thanks Crossblade. At this point, I figured anyone who really cares has probably subscribed at this point, and there really wasn't a need for a new thread. Hope everyone enjoys the new stuff, it is a lot of fun on my end. I'm going to try to pace things out a bit, one video a day so I don't overwhelm the viewers too much.
Further edit: I have an off camera world, so I don't have it recorded, but I just had two slimes spawn outside. Since when does that happen?
Further, further edit: Just checked the wiki. 1.4 has slimes spawning in swamps at night. Right, moving my base, then.Last edited by Iskandar; 2013-01-25 at 05:34 PM.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
Not really. It's only 64 stacks (unless you want to blow up a diamond block and spend enderpearls on the upgrades).
By way of contrast, a regular vanilla double-chest has 54 slots, each of which can hold a stack. Which actually costs half as much wood since it is planks rather than logs. Less than half if you use a Carpenter, actually.
It can also only store one item. So you can't have a single, for example, Iron Chest for all your cobble/sand/gravel. Because who needs 64 stacks of that stuff anyways? That's three materials in the same block, versus needing three separate barrels.
So yea... not impressed, personally.SpoilerQuite possibly, the best rebuttal I have ever witnessed.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
Eh, I'm thinking more like storage of your ingots and crafting supplies. Done right, you can tell at a glance where stuff is and how much you have without rooting around in your chests and counting stacks. Yes, it isn't very space efficient, but being able to walk into your storage room and tell at a glance exactly what you have and what you need more of is fairly valuable, to me at least.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
What I find the barrels most handy for is storing things near where you're going to use them. Have a barrel of nikolite and a barrel of redstone next to the alloy furnace, for example. Getting items out and putting them in to a barrel doesn't require opening it and going through the UI. It's just faster.

Right, not to double post, but just found out something funny. Youtube does automatic captioning. If you go to one of my videos, turn captions on, and then turn the sound all the way down, the results are fairly hilarious.

Yeah, it's actually really funny to watch those. Some of mine have turned up some truly amusing things, too. I think there's a comment on one of my old Minecraft videos about it... Jesse Cox, another youtube guy, has some great stuff turn up on his, as well.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
And I'm back. Man that sucked. I would not wish that on my worst enemy.
So, finally getting things accomplished. Another episode or two, and I'll finish my backlog of recorded stuff, and will have an other world upload. And apparently I will need a new thread, after all.
Edit: I was feeling creative, so I'm working on something. For once, I think I may have something decent.
http://imgur.com/ny9YWWu
This was made in creative mode, as a proof of concept. Not finished, but now I know it looks pretty good, I might bring it into my LP as a legit build at some point. Or, if Buildcraft ever gets the Builders working again, I may complete it in Creative, save it as a Blueprint, and have the Builder construct it. I'll still need to gather the raw materials, of course, and a metric ton of Buildcraft power.Last edited by Iskandar; 2013-02-13 at 04:07 AM.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
RE: Underwater Construction Testing
Some options for ya:
One of the things I did for my underwater tunnel for my base was build in a way to get in and out easily, shown here:
The walls are window *panes*. This is actually an important point. The spine is lined with signs, although you can use RP2 microblock panels or even strips if you want.
If you hug the glass pane, you can jump up into the water, and you can sink down into the tunnel. Makes for easy access. Also doubles as a handy squid trap for as many ink sacs as you could ever want.
For that matter, you can set up airlocks in a similar manner around your base, using microblocks or pressure plates or whatever, to give you ready access to outside.
As far as materials, smooth stone would be an easy resource. Build yourself an Igneous Extruder, and you have yourself a one-block cobblegen that outputs to pipes and tubes. It can also crank out smoothstone, but it consumes a bit of lava each time. It can also output Obsidian, which can be very handy for making hardened glass.
There's also the machine from Factorization that will automatically stamp out 2x2 or 3x3 of an item. So you could make stone bricks automatically by feeding the smoothstone into it, then piping the result back out into a chest. It requires a craftpacket stamper and maker to make, and some cobble, so not too bad, the most expensive part are the two pistons. So that's an easy way to make brick blocks, marble brick blocks, basalt brick blocks... and of course all the XYcraft blocks
I like your use of the RP2 inverted lights. It's a great way to light up a room without torches cluttering up the place.SpoilerQuite possibly, the best rebuttal I have ever witnessed.

Re: Iskandar's Travels in Minecraft: The LP and the MP Server Thread MKII
Thanks. Yeah, stamping out the Xycraft blocks will work, I think. Clearing the water will be interesting. Wood, or leaves, plus flint and steel should do the trick.
Working underwater should be... interesting. A scuba helmet plus compressed air should help, I think.
This is my off camera world. I get enough material for a week of vids in, like 5 hours of Minecraft. Since I play about double or triple that in a week, I have a world I am working on in my slack time.
Well, worlds. Last one I restarted because of a misplaced nuke. It was supposed to drop straight down to help hollow out an underground space. Not so much, actually. My youtube channel, featuring LPs of Minecraft and various other indie games: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCa98B36NhE0lWNEn3lGc86Q
