"FIVE" In Character [PF]

You stand at the shore of the pond, looking out over the squalor; women are beating out clothing made of fetid skins, men are chewing various addictive and destructive drugs, coarse attempts at society languish next to bear-grease fires. The massive men of every race fire off their crude means of humor at random, alternately lazing around or quarreling violently.

Perhaps this suits you: you live for nature, staying near to the land and living off of it, giving back when you can, and eking out your existence here in this motley band of outcasts in a world of traveling outcasts.

Or, maybe, just maybe... you want something more. The power given to you, whether arcane, divine, innate, or martial cannot help but fuel your mind with thoughts of what could be done. Perhaps.... great things await! Discoveries, mysteries, glories, a better existence.

But in another moment, your thoughts come back down to Vengar as a woman throws a heavy, wet, fur coat to you.

"Hold this, ya. Y' all can't swing a sword, you're 'alf cocked anyway, so you might 's well 'old something, mightn't ye?"

You're standing at the edge of a waterhole/pond/muckfest, where all of the women are washing the only OTHER pair of things most of these guys have. (If you guys want to be married, now's the time to mention it!) Out of this tribe, you all are slightly.... watched. Whether it's because of a tragedy, or your preferences as to battle, or your non-proficiency with a martial weapon, people don't think of you as normal.

Alan watches the squalor, looking sad about it, wishing he could do something about it. He looks over everyone around him. He takes the fur when the woman throws it at him. "Yes ma'am, I'll do whatever you need." He says, trying to be personable.

Sarah and Égée

Sarah kindly accepts and holds onto the fur with a smile. She even doesn't complain when the woman's ungraceful toss made all the clothes she was wearing wet. However to the Green Dragon beside her.. "Why you... Don't speak to--" "Oh hush Égée!---My apologies, don't mind him." Defeated, Égée recoils a bit, content to simply glare at the uncouth woman.

The woman starts back with a little bit of fear on her face.

"I didn't see.... the... spirit. Pardon me..." She hurriedly moves back down to the river, taking care to be at least forty or so feet from the large, murky, dragon's form. The whole time, she averts her eyes, extremely cautious, making quite sure that she doesn't so much as glance in its direction.

The banter of the women continues, moving down the bank accordingly... they all seem to fear Egee, no matter how they feel about the rest of you. There are a few whispers, and a young girl asks loudly, "What's wrong with that skinny man?" She points to Alon's stature and wizened frame. Several women at once hush her quickly, but do not offer a word of apology.

You can see a large, shaggy beast approaching, about two hundred feet away from you. The path of the giant creature is very ambling; it seems to wander one way, and then the next, before finally pausing and staring towards the water hole.

Also, as a question: where is your lion? Is it next to you or somewhere else?

Alon, oblivious that anything might be up, continues to hold the fur and continues to try and get Sarah to respond to him. "Do you think the washing will take long to get done?" he asks

"Strange..." commented Rerim, "There appears to be some sort of large creature coming this way..." He motioned to his animal companion, who was lying down a few feet away. The young lion rose and moved to Rerim's side, anticipating further commands.

Melanie looked up upon hearing Rerim call the creature to their attention "Large..." she began to mimic his words in question, stopping upon seeing the shambling creature "Oh, this should be fun." she smirks excitedly toward the thing as she pulls her wrists back, causing both of her daggers to shoot into her hands from their wrist sheaths "Haven't seen any action since I got here and the first of it looks BIG!"

The women seem less afraid of the lion, perhaps, but still quite wary of Rerim and his "companion."

The lumbering hulk coming towards you is most definitely a mammoth, an immense and powerful shaggy elephant with 15-foot horns. Something seems extremely odd, though, in its walk: it had been ambling towards you without any sense of purpose until it reached about 100 feet away...

When it did, it stopped, picked up its head, and charged.

"Incoming!" Alon calls, running towards the mammoth, trying to to shoo it into turning away from the group of women, and trying to put himself between it and them.

On a tangential OOC note, I really should come up with a name for my animal companion. Except I suck at naming things. Anything at all. Ever.

Sarah and Égée

With the sudden appearance of the massive beast Égée quickly moves in front of Sarah. "This one's a beastie. Stay back." With that Sarah finally notices the huge creature and for a moment is in shock, but then her instincts kick in. Shouting towards all the other tribesman she cries "Everyone watch out for that thing! -- I'll try to do something about it!"

If there is sufficient time for a round before the beast arrives, Sarah will cast Mage Armor on Egee and then move back a few feet.

[I don't know for sure when the next time I'll be on will be, so when my turn comes up....]

If he's close enough Alon will try to get about 25 feet away from the mammoth and will cast Charm Animal.

He will then try to convince the Mammoth to turn and leave the area.

He lets out a ferocious roar just as he bites.

Seeing Égée rush out to meet the towering Mammoth Sarah's heart stopped for but a moment as she saw him dodge the initial assault, tearing into the great animal. But then the second wave truly scared her. Luckily the old dragon was still up and kicking after the slam. Greasing her hand with some butter she spoke words of power, conjuring a thick layer of grease beneath the mammoth.
