I do worry that the Giant's relationship with his fans has been a little stretched thin over the past 9 days. I've loved the new comics, but I feel the enjoyment that comes from participating here on these forums has taken a sharp dive in the same time span. Just got to keep things in perspective - its the internet, and there will always be a vocal minority that will make bizarre claims and critiques. Comes with the territory, unfortunately.

It's sad that the Giant spends so much time dealing with the malcontents on the forum, and so little time answering the really important talking points like 'is Haley truly weak-willed' or 'FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MALACK IS EVIL. HE'S CLEARLY EVIL, HE'S ALWAYS BEEN CLEARLY EVIL.'

The recent spate of malcontent threads are really unfortunate and, in my opinion, represent an extremely tiny minority who don't know when not to use the new thread button. I share your and the Giant's frustration with some of their ludicrous complaints. Sometimes I feel like they try to analyze OOTS as a complete story when it clearly is not over yet.

In any case, I hope that in some small way threads like Thanks for the nine days!, and this one, make up for it, since I think they represent the vast majority of OOTS readers: those who appreciate the quality of the storytelling and happily follow along on the adventure.

Yes, everyone has the right to criticize the comic, but that doesn't shield them from the repercussions of voicing that criticism, which can include me snarkily dismissing them in their own thread.

To be honest, it makes me wish we could vote to lock those kind of threads. It's not like they generate any content worth reading.

I don't know, I've found The Giant smacking them down to be pretty funny. And he's written quite a few insightful things about story composition and whatnot in the process.
