Keep on the Shadowfell [IC]

The inn is rather cramped, and you think that it must have once been an old barn, as some walls look much newer than others, and the floor is much newer than the outer walls. A few tables are clustered around a bar, and a few doors lead to various rooms. A fireplace dominates the center of the front room, and a wooden staircase goes to the upper lever. There are a few dozen people in the room, only two of them being employees.

[The Big Orc]

Seth is sitting in the corner, reluctant to communicate with any of the other patrons. Sigh, I need to get started soon anyways, this life could end at any time, might as well make the most of it while it's here, thinks the great Deva. In his past lifes, Seth has been many things, a mighty warrior, a great architect and many an other great figure. This time, he has come back as a wizard. A puny, useless wizard. While the other Devas are always talking about how much they love magic and what it has taught them, Seth has always thought of physical prowess as being the only important prowess. Magic was irrelevant, there wasn't anything that couldn't be done by physical means. And this life, he was forced to use magic. "Magic," Seth cursed. Standing up, Seth walks over to the bar, puts an arm up and leans towards the bartender, "Heard of any mysterious going ons? I'm looking for a job, the pay doesn't have to be great but the work has to be dangerous."

Dralan is sitting at the bar, nursing a drink. He tries to remain social, even though he hates alcohol. When Seth comes up seeking death, it intriques the young cleric.

"Life in all forms is precious, good sir, why would you throw yours away so willingly?"

As he turns towards Seth, the sun disk of Pelor is clearly visible on the chest of his armor, and repeated in a pattern on his white cloak.

"Forgive me for being rude, but I am a healer. To me it is far harder to restore life than have it taken. When one fights on a battlefield such as the one between life and death, it flavors one's judgments."

Lillith, who had been sitting in the back of the tavern with several handsome human gentlemen, slowly meanders up to the bar to order a pint of ale for herself. She taps the bar three times, the Barkeep gives her a nod and pours the ale.

Lillith happens to overhear the wizard and the cleric talking, she pauses for a moment and debates whether to chime in. The Cleric is handsome but he worships Pelor and they're all pacifists (i.e. no fun). The Wizard is a Deva, they can be fun... She looks at the Cleric and says, "Dieing in the pursuit of a just and noble cause is a worthy deed indeed! Let the Wizard strike out and save the innocent and the meek, Bahamut shall watch over him!"

A worthy deed indeed? Obviously the alcohol was to blame. Instinctively, Lillith bites her fingernails - it was a bad habit...

The barkeep slams a pint of ale on the table. Lillith looks over at the pint with wide eyed exuberance - Finally, a PINT! Those cheep bastards in the corner would only order shots of beer. Who does that!?

Zid stands near the bar beside one of the female patrons. She seems uninterested in his advances, but he's persistent and has resorted to more outlandish displays of prowess as the evening has gone on. At the talk of dangerous work, Zid turns his attention towards butting into the conversation. The woman, looking relieved, takes the opportunity to slip away.

Slamming his fist down on the bar he forcefully states, "Hey! If you've got dangerous work old man, I'll do it." Proudly turning around again to see how impressed his "date" is with this display, he grows frustrated to see that she has left. "Hey! String bean!" he says, focusing his attention on the Deva. "What in hell is a wimp like you doing asking for dangerous work. Humph. It looks like walking through a doorway would be dangerous for you, chump. Now look, your stupid talk distracted me from my date, and now she's gone, so I figure you owe me a beer to make up for it." He shoots a glace at the barkeep to signal him for a beer.

Turning to Dralan, "What makes you think I am attempting to throw my life away? Even if I was, as a Deva, does it matter?" Seth then turns to the woman, "How did you know I was a wizard? You have an interesting mind to know what I can do just by looking at me," and finally turning to the rude man, "The only danger walking through a door presents me is the lawsuit when it cracks your nose. Buy your own drinks." Turning back to the woman, "Once I have my answer on the nearby danger, would you care to join me in crushing it?"

[Felhammer]

"Magic surrounds you, it permeates the air every where you go." The shifter sniffs the air and says, "Some females find it intoxicating."

Edouar

I am just sitting here in front of the bar, talking it up with a bunch of locals I met as I was sightseeing. I'm on business as a mercenary, just lending my services for coin.

I had recieved payment from an elven aristocratic lady, who hired me to be her escort on the way to this particular town, riding alongside her in her coach. With the handsome payment that I received from this fine lady, I habitually blew it all on drinks for those locals I was chatting with; we were just starting to be very good friends (happens every time I travel). And I didn't even order any beers at all, but decided to go with something stronger, like some whiskey (that's my favorite).

I hear some fighting words being said from some half-orc, who happens to be picking on a deva just because he is being a bully. Being just lightly drunk, I don't really do much but tell my circle of groupies, "Hey, guys... looky here! I see a fight going on. Two silver, the half-orc's gonna win!" Then everybody in my group just starts placing bets, with maybe 5 or 7 silver pieces added to the pot (I couldn't tell; I was drunk). After this, we watch to see if anything is going to happen from here.

"Dying for the greater good is not a choice one seeks unless suicidal. It is a choice one has thrust upon them. Forgive me if I offend." Dralan smiles at the newcomer as well. "My lady, I pray that all the gods watch out for those that believe in them, may they have mercy on the souls of the fallen. I am Dralan, Cleric of the Great Pelor, may his rays enlighten all in their darkest hour." He bows his head towards Lillith.

[Felhammer]

Lillith blushes for a moment but quickly recovers with a coy smile, "And I am Lillith Drakala Drako, knight-errant in service to Lord Markelhay of Fallcrest and Avenger of the Platinum Dragon Bahamut. Our gods are friends and," Lillith taps the bar once more, smiles at the Cleric and says, "Milord Dralan, I think, we shall be friends as well."

[The Big Orc]

"Magic, you are not the first who has surprised me by calling it intoxicating. I will admit, that once you have used it, it is surprisingly hard to stop," Seth says to Lillith. "And seeking danger is not the same as seeking death," he responds to the Cleric.

[Luck]

"Haha!" Making a rude noise with his tongue and spraying a bit of spittle, Zid accompanies the gesture with a with a thumbs down. "If any of you guys knew anything about danger, you'd know not to let women like her get anywhere near you."

[The Big Orc]

"And what do you know of danger? If you knew anything of danger, you would know that while some women are dangerous, it's usually worth it to let the dangerous ones get close to you."

[tigerusthegreat]

"In my experience, it is keeping them close that is dangerous, not having them close for short periods." The cleric smirks into his mug, belying the stereotype of the celibate priest.

[Felhammer]

"Danger! Why," Lillith thrusts her right arm into the air and points to the sky, then downs the remainder of her ale before exclaiming at the top of her lungs "DANGER IS MY SECOND MIDDLE NAME!"

She then looks around as the whole tavern stairs at her. For a few agonizing moments, Lillith is quite flustered. She then tentatively states "... Well it would be..."

The barkeep scoffs and drops down a pint of ale. Lillith quietly sits down on a nearby stool and tries to look busy as she sips her alcohol.

Well, it was nice chatting, guys, but I gotta check out what is going on here." With that, Edouar leaves his drunken buddies to fantasize amongst themselves, as he walks towards the group the half-orc and the deva were at, and just starts listening into the conversation.

Edouar listens in, and finds that there is mention of danger. "You know what, ladies? You guys wouldn't even know danger if it stared you guys in the face. I was brought here esorting this lady, on a road where highwaymen can steal your money in a pinch. And her last escort didn't notice her pockets being picked, and replaced with a note saying 'Explosive Runes'. And little did she know how that damaged her sweet face to pieces. It's pretty weird how she must have survived that."

"In what language does Drakala translate to danger?" Dralan says with a smirk to Lillith. Turning to the newcomer, he adds, "I remember that lady, took a lot of healing to get her back on her feet."

[Felhammer]

Lillith shakes off her embarrassment and says, "My friend, Drakala means Danger in the passionate language of those who risk their lives to save the helpless and destroy those that threaten the world with evil." Lillith grins, "Perhaps you are fluent in such a language?"

"I have a passing familiarity, though there has been ill use of it lately."

[The Big Orc]

"So, what danger are the rest of you headed too? I am still in the market for a dangerous escapade and I believe that how we react in the face of danger will let us decide who is braver in the face of danger."

[Felhammer]

Lillith stands up and hoists her pint-sized Tankard into the air and proclaims, "To danger!"

"I am surrounded by total fools." Dralan says, but raises his glass anyway.

[SwordScythe]

I raise my glass high, and drink my whiskey with a passionate chug. Then, I say, "Awesome! Now let's go and kick some ass!"

[Luck]

Cupping his hands around his mouth, Zid shouts out over the entire inn, "I'M GUNNA OUT DANGER ALL YOU *******S!"

[SwordScythe]

Edouar just rolls his eyes at the annoying half-orc: "Danger, danger, danger! We have spoken of danger long enough. I just want to get on with the business we are supposed to be doing so we can get a huge reward or something. Who's with me?" On the last statement, I stand up and unsheathe my sword overdramatically.
