Default Re: Three Goddesses - IC (Thread #2)

    Dot

It was at moments like this that Dot deeply regretted not having her menagerie with her. Not because she particularly needed them, but because they would each have especially enjoyed the opportunity to tear a devil a new one. Instead she would simply have to fight devils with...deviltry.

Dot begins by targeting the furthest devil with magic designed to turn it into a slack-jawed imbecile. If it lost the power of thought, of speech, surely it would also lose the ability to use magic. She then ripped through a summoning in record time, bringing a massive skeletal form into a far corner of the room. On her immediate direction, it sends a green ray towards one of the devils.

    Dot sends to her colleagues.

"The skeletal devil is a friend. Well, at the very least, a useful tool."

    Spoiler

Standard action - cast Feeblemind on the Devil farthest from our entrance to the room. Will DC 27 or Int and Cha are reduced to 1. CL check to beat its Spell Resistance: (1d20+23)[36]

Swift action - using a Major Esoterica use of Quickened on her Summon Monster VII to bring in a Bone Devil in whatever open space she can find in the room, as long as it doesn't block her colleagues from reaching the Barbed devils. She mentally instructs it to use Dimensional Anchor on a Barbed Devil. If Dot senses that the most distant devil made its save against the Feeblemind, she'll have the bone devil target him. Otherwise, it will be the next most distant.

Move action - pull out her rod of quicken from her pack.

Bone Devil - use Dimensional Anchor SLA. Touch attack: (1d20+14)[26]. Spell resistance check: (1d20+12)[17]

Bone Devil is more or less as standard but with HP 138.

The devil that Dot targets with the Feeblemind appears to resist the magical attack, as its countenance and stance do not change. Her dimensional anchor and the same spell from her summoned bone devil are more effective as two of the devils are now bathed in a greenish light, a sure sign that they can no longer teleport or whatever, away.

Tallesin's complex attack series against the barbed devil leaves the beast completely befuddled. He manages 3 hits, but between the drain of CON, the vampiric effect, and ordinary damage is enough to finish the beast off. Of course, attacking a barbed devil is always a painful experience, and Tallesin takes damage from the porcupine like body.

    Ireth

While the nymph continues to sing her inspirational song, it appears that sweat is beginning to bead on her brow with the apparent mental effort she is undergoing. With a quick flick of her hand and curling of her fingers a massive plume of impossibly white flame envelops the devil that was covered (ineffectively) in webbing.

Ireth brings a flame strike down on the uninjured devil. While the flame part of the spell is ineffective, the divine part strikes the devil, burning him with its holy damage.

Having finished off his foe, Tallesin flies back to join Atareth's combat, leaving the casting devil alone for now. Taking up a flanking position (if possible), he swings at the already wounded fiend as he coolly states, "Terrible you may be, but love knows no fear."

Tallesin's attack is not nearly as successful this time around as his scimitar misses the target. The bad news is that this attack still causes him to be poked by the devils barbs.
    (1d8+6)[9]
The devils continue their counter attack. The devil menacing Atarath strikes at her with his claws.
    (1d20+27)[40] attack & (2d8+17)[26] damage
    (1d20+22)[31] attack & (2d8+17)[29] damage
    (1d20+17)[26] attack & (2d8+17)[27] damage
The other devil chooses (probably foolishly) to rush at Taleira and attempt claw her.

    (1d20+22)[34] attack & (2d8+17)[22] damage
    (1d20+17)[21] attack & (2d8+17)[25] damage
Of course, the really bad news for the devils is now they get to take damage because of these attacks.

Atareth is hit by only one claw, and takes 26 points of damage for his trouble.
Once again, Sword rears up and strikes out with his front hooves, however slightly wiser to the tactic, the devil manages to avoid the powerful hoof blows.
    Atareth up.

Atareth changes style, but not tactics. She focuses much more on overall defense, but especially against her current opponent, and wails away with her hammer.

Atareth's focus on defense costs her, and she is only able to score one hit against the devil. She is wearing it down for sure, but the barb damage is piling up on her as well.
