Both blows land solidly, cracking bones underneath the sandpaper skin. The brothers arrive too, and lay into the orcs with a special hatred.

    shovel attack - (1d20+1)[21], (1d6+1)[5]
pick attack - (1d20+3)[21], (1d8+3)[10] (they are standing so as to get flanking bonuses, and you also benefit from this).

Fritz and Curf reach you. What is the meaning of this? He holds up your note. Threats on Prince Belmont's life are not take lightly. Can you in any way corroborate this information?

crit confirm - (1d20+1)[6], (1d6+1)[4]. The shovel connects with the first orc's head from behind, crushing it like a melon.

The pick sinks into the side of the second orc, who attempts to break out of the melee. AoO - (1d20+1)[18](1d8+3)[9]. (You can take an AoO if you like) The last orc, seeing his companions dying, also attempts to flee.

Most of my reason to believe it is Argough comes from what I witnessed in the recent border incursion between Fort Nebo and Bushton. It wasn't the Red Valleys idea to cross your borders. Mercenary agents were behind it and while I can't prove he hired them I know he did. I know that those same agents are involved in a plot against the princes life. I can't say how. I do have an associate that may have the proof you need.Let me contact him and see what he has. I realize that what I have said I say constitutes serious allegations. I am prepared to get all the proof you need to take appropriate action, when the time is right.

Jaster will also start looking around for 5,000 gp worth of diamonds, or gold to get Smirnoff a nice Raise Dead spell after the job is done. The job was to make the prince dead and not say a word about red Raven, not to make him stay dead.

Jaster probably doesn't know that a raise dead spell takes 5000 gp of diamonds, but he might know it would take a high level cleric, so he can look for one of those.

I do not like this, mercenary. If you do not have some proof by midday tomorrow, it will go badly for you.

You eventually find a caster capable of sending in a post office, but no one seems to advertise their services as one who can raise the dead.

Be aware, your timelines are not synchronized. After the last time you saw Keiji, he left to consult with the elders of his monastery. In the meantime, Jaster and Curf have remained in the city and ... accepted temporary employment. Keiji's timeline is a week or more ahead of Jaster/Curf's.

    Aye, that's right.

Flashback: before you got more than a day out of Lafierre, you hear in your mind very clearly "I need to find out what we got from our excursion the other night. Name a time and place. You can bring friends." You recognize the voice as Jaster's, and feel that a short reply would be appropriate.

Well crap, that puts a crimp in my style. Better go up to the monastary, collect whatever intelligence we can get and leave Kieji until the timeline can be synchronized. Before I leave, get my horse and then if I can find out where Argough lives quickly, pass his house and see if I can spot a family crest.

So, if Jaster and Curf head to the Monastery of Burning Stones, can we say, for the sake of simplicity, that it takes them longer than expected to get there? After all, it is quite a journey, and they don't really know the way. This allows your timelines to sync without having to roleplay getting lost in the woods.
