Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Hm. Different people prefer different things. The convention center definitely has a better stage, but I'm the type who likes to walk around in cosplay and check out all the stalls.
Speaking of that, it seems Perthnova is going to be held there instead of the Showgrounds this year.
I personally find the people to be the same. I'm just into one event over the other.Click to view my dragons and help them grow!

ROLL CALL!
So, how is everybody doing and what is everybody up to these days?
P.S. I know that this thread was technically past the thread necromancy date, but I asked myself if it would be ok, and I allowed it.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I'm alive. So is Peregrine.
Life is a bit stagnant right now. I am having an extremely hard time finding work (well, paid work, I have a volunteer job on the go at church). Peregrine is still teaching, but is also having a hard time finding anything but short-term contract work. It's a miracle we haven't gone broke yet.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
If you have a cat that loves you, then life can never be too bad.
So... I just applied for a job with St. John of God Healthcare. Can someone please explain to me why they wanted my Skype username to finish the application?
They also asked for my passport number, but I ignored that bit.Last edited by Lady Moreta; 2014-04-03 at 10:23 PM.

That sounds reeeeally strange, Moreta.
I've been in a bit of a bad spot mentally, but I think I'm starting to turn it around. Found a group to play Pokemon cards with, too.Click to view my dragons and help them grow!

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Actually I have a theory as to why they asked. It was part of the question about citizenship and visas and the right to work in Australia. My guess is they asked so they can quickly look up your details and see if you can work. As I am a NZ citizen, I can work without any trouble, and as the question wasn't mandatory I chose to ignore it. It's not government work, therefore I don't have to be a citizen, therefore they don't get those details.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I'm actually still alive! Though that might shock you, what with me having not been here for months and months. But life goes in in leaps and bounds, though only when I'm not looking, because when I am looking it seems that it goes on in an unending swarm of assignments and never quite getting enough sleep.
Having said that, it actually has changed a little bit, I've changed role playing groups, I've made it to my last year of teacher training, I've got a girlfriend, a new job and more work to do in the next week than I can possibly manage (the avoidance of which is what brings me here). So yeah, life is pretty good, all things considered.
Its nice to see that even after I've been away for ages, this tread is still around (if only because of some magic)!

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Wotcha, chief.
In a word: busy. The last few months have been a bit of roller-coaster. It feels like I'm working four full-time jobs: doing my own work, which keeps on piling up; covering for my team leader, who is on leave this week; looking after my wife, who has been suffering with some personal issues; and being dad to my two-and-half year old son and six month old daughter. So, yeah... busy.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I'm, uhh, around. Uni isn't going brilliantly this year, but it hasn't been too bad. I had my wisdom teeth removed today, which is rapidly shaping up to be four kinds of awful. So, uhh, yeah. Great time.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Oooh, wisdom teeth suck. I had just one removed about 6-7 years ago and that was sucky enough. A friend of mine once had three taken out at once and she was out of it for a few days.
You have my sympathies.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Oh, you poor thing.
Didn't they give you more? When my friend got her three out, she got a prescription for codeine to take for a few more days. She didn't, because she's allergic to the stuff, but she had it.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Failure was entirely on my end - I waited too long to take another one, so I'm enjoying the fruits of my bad timing as we speak. It hasn't been a stunning success so far, mind. One of the sutures is loose, and odds are about 70/30 that I have nerve damage, too.
EDIT: But yeah, accepting any and all sympathyLast edited by Elm11; 2014-04-17 at 07:51 AM.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Oooh yeah, that's bad. I remember when the painkiller wore off for my one tooth, it was thoroughly unpleasant. And I can't swallow tablets, so I had to chew the panadol. Try doing that when your whole mouth is aching.
Actually, don't try doing that. It sucks.
Doesn't codeine make you sleepy? (I wouldn't know, I've never needed to take it.) Maybe it'll put you to sleep and you can sleep through the pain.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Alas, poor thread, I knew it, Playground.
I hereby grant myself permission to resurrect this thread.
*casts rise unthread*
Blah blah, I think I've done all of these jokes before.
Anyway, I have a purpose! All of the Playgrounders in Melbourne, would you like to go grab lunch, dinner, and/or watch Les Misérables on one day in October? If you're interested, let me know, and I'll discuss possible dates/times in PM.
