Well, if Wolfbane and Alexandrian don't object to Rick showing up in the plot, I don't either. However, there is one small issue;

Due to a huge magical explosion that hit Hamlet ages ago, all of the villagers have magical abilities of some sort, a sort of mutation caused by the wild magic field around Hamlet. Most of these mutations are fairly slight, stuff like being mildly resistant to fire or frost, being surrounded by ghost-lights, basically uncontrollable minor magical effects. Luckily, Riv is supplying them with drugs that suppress magic, and all he asks in return is to rule over the town with an iron fist. Not that he ever actually uses his tyrannous authority, except to install guards at the village gates.

While I have no initial objection to someone else entering the plot, there is the matter of survivability if he goes after Javert. While I'm not saying that the assassin would kill him, I'm just saying there's a chance since at the moment, Javert's goal is to kill as many villagers as possible.

Slii would almost certainly join if such a guild sprung up. Assuming he could do so without Dipsnig finding out. He fancies himself quite the thief since most of his jobs before joining NO were related to thievery.

What I do need is caretakers. Or players willing to play some as npcs. That works too. Otherwise, the orphans will just be running amok and dependant on my energy levels which are very very very low.

I don't think the members of the Order would trust Sigwhite. Or a random storyteller who pops in on occasion. You have to remember that orphanages are pretty common targets for villains, so someone offering to show up occasionally, and built trust... could be just plotting to lure away the kids to sell to vampires or use in evil rituals or the like.

What they're looking for is that rarest of all creatures in the Nexus: Sensible, good, sane, responsible adults.

Can you roleplay a sensible, good, sane, responsible adult? If so, and you give your OOC word that this isn't a plot to be all sneaky and evil, then you can handwave in that you've been there all along.

If you intend to be sneaky and evil, you have to roleplay your way in.

Added clarification: If your character is a member of the Order of Cunningham and follows their precepts and you handwave that you go to their services on a regular basis, then you can be a volunteer who works there part time. Again, this is with the ooc understanding that you're someone who is known to them and has earned trust over time.

Also, anyone who wants to can NPC a caretaker to do general things that would be in character for a caretaker to do, for the purposes of keeping things moving. If it becomes plot like, you'd need a PC to get involved. Or if you play an NPC enough, you could graduate them to PC status and reserve them for yourself.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that if anyone who wants to play a sane, responsible, good, trusted adult caretaker should be able to find a way to do so.

He's sane. That's just it. That was my special thing when I created him as an NPC, he would never break down, he would never freak out. He'd stay normal through it all.

Indeed, Bright linked to one, so I decided to go all out. The Grimoire of Questionable Spells was my inspiration.

Er...no, but that's only because all the situations I've used him in so far have been situations in which I could horribly abuse his whole anti-fear thing. Poor guy.

In that case, he'd need to roleplay his way in rather than handwaving. And I have to warn you, that will be slow both because I feel like rubbish and I hate roleplaying job interviews. But that's not a 'no'. It's a 'maybe, but he has to convince Sister Gertrude that he's good, sane, sensible, etc'.
